Whenever i go onto a japanese/chinese/website-that-uses-radicals/characters, I get boxes with numbers/letters.

Other than not going to these websites, how do I resolve this issue?

I think you need to install the East Asian languages in your Regional and Language Options.

Go to your control panel, click on regional and language options, then click the language tab. Check the "Install East Asian Languages" box. You may need your windows install CDs for this, I'm not sure.

Edit:
Looks like you probably won't need your CDs.

I don't think you need the CDs.

I hadn't install them on my new computer, so I just did right now, and it did not ask me for the CDs. It just installed the files and told me to restart.

So try it without the CDs.

Are you using Windows XP, or an earlier version? (Or not windows at all?)

Use this wiki page on Rendering Support.

I'm on XP. It's too late to look for the CD now, I'll do that tomorrow after work.

I'm going to look through the microsoft downloads though.
