Looking to buy a new pcFollow

As the subject says, its time for a new home pc. I'm looking to get a gaming rig of some kind, but towards the modest end of the budget range...like say 700$ ish?

I have two shops near me that provide custom computer builds:

http://www.anitec.ca/ and http://www.ncix.com/

I pretty much just play WoW (with the recent expansion), but also use it for running Autodesk Inventor (a 3d CAD modeling program).

I have no idea, aside from the recommended system specs, of what, or how to piece together a machine. I would prefer to stick to windows XP as well instead of Vista.

I know there are other sites available, but for now I'd prefer something I can just drive over and pick up vs. mailing.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

This looks to be the best bang for the buck http://www.anitec.ca/systemconfig/52/ , after upgrading a few optional components anyways, such as 2 GB ram, (add another 2gb is only 15$), video card change to 256 MB (I'd prefer a 512), and with a 22" lcd option ( I could use a new moniter as well) it comes in at 880$.

Overkill perhaps?

The 8500 GT is certaintly not an overkill card its rather bland.

Since youre close to NCIX its possible to have pretty much anything assembled and pick it up (I usually buy parts from them and have them shipped)

But for 800$ considering you get a 22 inch screen its an ok computer, will be ok for MMOs and othe rgames, recent games at medium medium-low quality though.

If you buy it now, Id look for a graphic card upgrade come this boxing day, Im sure you could grab a 9800 GT for under 100$ (or around that price)

Greetings Xizervexius!

You could definitely build a modest rig for $700, and run almost any game extremely well, especially WoW as it is less demanding than most.

Take a look at our performance guide, as it will give you some component choices to put together. If you have any questions after that, please let me know!
