FFXI Music StutterFollow

Recently I have been having probs with the background music in FFXI. It doesn't seem to matter what area I am in. The game functions normally but the background music will randomly quit, repeat notes, or stutter. No problem on any other game

Sound drivers have been updated and restored game files from backup. Only thing I can think of is that I had to reduce hardware sound acceleration when I installed WOW to prevent random loud noises.

That is what is causing the problems you are now experiancing. The stuttering and repeats are the system having difficulties processing teh sound without that acceleration your sound card provides.

What sound card do you have? if it is a soundblaster X-fi, the updated drivers should fix the random loud noise issue.

Its mobo sound and uses C-media drivers on Nvidia chipset. When I started playing WOW i would get loud BLAAAAAP randomly. FAQ said to use Dirext X panel and reduce sound hardware acceleration. That fixed WOW, but now I am having random probs with FF sound.

Cpu : Athelon XP 2Ghz
Memory DDR 1024 meg

Do you have the latest chipset drivers installed? CMedea does have some issues, I'm not a big fan of that chipset component personally.

Funny thing. Yes I think I have the most recent driver. Had a problem. when I uploaded the drivers I lost sound completely and used the windows updater to get things going again.

Windows updater uses the older drivers. You are going to have to get the correct driver from the motherboard manufacturer.
