I usually never ever have problems with FFXI never get d/c can always get online etc...

But today I was soloing Imps in Caedire Mire & while resting I got d/c & I can no longer get on FFXI it just gets stuck on the "Downloading Data" screen after I pick my char. So I then checked File on FFXI & Playonline no problems there. Then I thought it could be my laptop some file corupted or something so I tried to log in on my PC & exact same happened. Then I thought maybe its an account problem so I tried logging in with my friends account & same happens.

I really dont have a clue what has happened I cant work it out at all. Anyone have any similar or same problems I would appreciate any feedback as I am clueless at this point :(

/sigh I have posted this on other forums too & also no reply I am so stuck I dont have a clue what to do I have literally tried everything.

1. I reinstalled FFXI
2. Checked on my other computer just in case it was that.
3. Tried logging into friends account from my house & same results nothing happening so not an account problem
4. Contacted a GM who was no help at all.(Referred me to the Service & Support number you can call Mon-Fri).
5. Referred to the official playonline site & made sure the right ports were open on my router as stated on site.

& still nothing I log in everything is fine till I pick my char then it gets stuck on the "Downloading Data" screen is there anyone out there who has had this problem it must be a connection problem of some kind but I cant work out what it could be I have tried everything I can think of & all the crappy info from SE & the GM. If anyone has any feedback or info to help me it would be greatly appreciated.

It's either your modem having isues, or your router. What model of router are you running? You'll probably just have to open a few ports, though most of the newer routers work with FFXI right out of the box. Your ISP may also be blocking FFXI ports if you are on a college campus or in the military by any chance. i didn't check your ISP

Edit: I see you are in the U.K. You didn't end up with a U.S. only copy of FFXi by any chance did you?

I have got the EU version of the game have had it bout 18months now & this is the first problem I have had I know it must be a connection problem as have tried reinstalling the game & tried logging on the friends account & it is the same.

I referred to the official POL site for help & made sure the right ports were open on my router. The thing that is confusing me the most is I was playing the game while it happened all of a sudden I got d/c & aint been able to come back since before this I have never had any problems & I know I aint changed nothing it is very confusing :(

I have also contacted a GM(Twice) & all they do is try to get rid of you giving the number you can call for Technical Assistance but I know when I call they aint gonna be able to help as I feel like I have tried everything. I usually would be more patient but got stuff orgnaised on the game for today that been organising for ages :(

I just dont now what to do have tried everything!!! Well that I can think of & evrything that I have seen suggested on the net.
