FFXI NOT working with GeforceFX 5200 CardFollow

#1 Feb 15 2006 at 2:33 PM Rating: Decent
Okay, i've never had this problem before, but I just recentlly tried to setup my account and play again and now this problem occurs.
I'm temporarily using a friends GeforceFX 5200 card because my Radeon x800 is away at RMA being fixed (isn't ATI reliable?). Anyway, Everytime I try to start the game, I just get a black screen...I can see the ingame mouse pointer and hear the music but I don't get anything on the screen. I tried turning off AA and AF but it doesn't work. I tried changing the resolution and that doesn't work either. I downloaded the FFXI windower and tried using that and when I hit ctrl+alt+del I got some sort of message about Direct3D not initializing...which is strange cuz' every other game that uses Direct3D that I have works. Any idea what's causing this? I'd really like to play...Oh and yes I have the newest drivers and directX versions of course.

Here's the rest of my system..
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice
Abit UL8 Socket939 AGP8X motherboard
3x 512 sticks Kingston HyperX pc2700
2x 80GB Western Digital Caviar
Sound Blaster Audigy2
520watt Aspire PSU

You might want to try cleaning out your ATI and Nvidia drivers with driver cleaner and then re-installing your NVidia ones.
