hi, just wondering if anyone can help me on a little problem i'm having.

the last couple weeks i've been having trouble with my internet connection. receiveing email sometimes would timeout or takes a long time. going to websites like 1UP or Alla (and pretty much any site else) would be the same way also. when i'm playing FF11 my S is normal but R keeps going from normal to 0 then to normal again every minute or 2. when i try WoW, it's the same, takes a long time to receive charactor information and always hit lag spike in game.

since i've been busy lately i didn't do much about it. but today i called my cable company and with their tech support (which is more helpful then i expected) i found out that it's something on my side of the PC that's filtering incoming data. he also said that it doesn't seem like there's any spyware or anything, it's just a filter that's blocking incoming data. i tried turning off firewall and Norton and disconnecting the router and it's still the same... >n<

anyone know what this "filter" would be? thanks for any useful help ahead /bow

ps: i don't have BT or anything running at all, ever

Are you talking about a software firewall package such as Norton Internet Security? If so you should uninstall it and try again. You really don't need a software firewall if you're running behind a router.
