FFXI and ATI cataclyst driversFollow

Hi,

I have a Radeon 9000 pro 128MB with cataclyst drivers 4.2 installed and FFXI works great. When 4.3 came out i tried installing them and the update went fine but when i ran the POL viewer the rendering of the graphics werent working good. I decide to try and start the game anyways and i got a msg that the Direct3D couldnt be detected. I did the Dxdiag on my Pc and tried again but still nothing. Thinking it was this driver version that was causing the problem, I rolled back to 4.2 and it started to work again(this happend the day after the release of 4.3). Now yesterday i decided to try the new 4.5 drivers and now i have the same prob..... :( I did all the updates possible to my system(chipset, network card, sound, windows) and i ran Dxdiag hopping it would fix the prob...but nope its still the same. I need some advise.... and as for POL.com tech support....it's not worth crap!!!(sorry for my foulness).

After numerous test and uninstalling 4.5 using ATI uninstal tool and even trying the Omega Ati drivers i still have the same problem. But i found out that when i change the resolution to 800X600 or 1152X864 the game graphics are normal again. so the problem only happens when the res is in 1024X768....I wonder what it could be....?

the new drivers change the way the card handles hardware texture and lighting and memory allocation. the drivers are faster and more stable, but they do not allow you to run at the same resolution. Either wait for an update to fix the issue, or roll back to 4.2
