Just installed my new radeon 9800xt. The graphics are stunning until about 20 mins into game when my armor tuens grey plants around me turn into white shapes and the ground detial switchs arouns and I start to LAG HEAVILY. WHat gives? I am running a p4 2.4 and a gig of ram plus a brand new Abit IC7-G. Ther eis no reason this should be happening. I am sure ther eis a topic in this forum about it already, but I see no search option. Thanks

Search is currently a premium subscriber only feature, but it is there, and actually, that is a new error here at least. What driver version are you currently running? Is your video card sharing an IRQ with anything?

I'll see if I can find anything that may cause that

Does it happen with every game you use it with? If so, then it could be a memory management problem.

Is anything overclocked?

Also try increasing the AGP aperture size to 128MB or higher in the bios. Default is 64 if I'm not mistaken.

well I have the new drivers. I do notice a loss in frame rate in lineage after 30 mins or so of play. restarting makes it smooth again.

Other games that have problems:
Operation Flashpoint is a mess.
IL2 forgotten battles runs well, but has some issues.

I will do a double check on my Bios. This card is 256 and check if itis still set to 8x agp

I checked my Bios and all seems to be in order. 256 and x8 AGP.
nothing overclocked from what I can tell.

My system is
P4 2.4 processor
Abit IC7-G motherboard
1 gig ram
using my on board sound ac97

is it better for me to use the onboard sound or the Audigy Gamer I have? I don't know the stats on the on-board card and I just got the motherboard installed yesterday. Could this be a problem? I will happily put the Audigy in if it would help.

amazed that operation flashpoint is such a mess. It takes aminute to start up, then the intro laggs out and is choppy. Mouse cursor barly moves and jumps around. If I start a game it crashes

ok wait...
you just got the motherboard installed yesterday?
Did you re-install Windows? If not, that's your problem I think. Windows XP will operate ok on a base level when you swap motherboards, but most things will not work properly.

I swapped motherboards back when Dungeon Seige was new and I remember it played at about 8 FPS until I re-installed Windows fresh and used the proper drivers from the start. Then I was getting my max of 24FPS.

EDIT: And yes, the Audigy will be better. Disable the onboard sound and pop the card in before you do your format.
