1. It's free.

2. It includes an integrated pop-up blocker better than Googles or whatever other slap on IE bandaid you're ussing currently.

3. It doesn't use MJVM which eliminates ninety percent of the "My homepage is now blahblahblah" problems.

4. It's faster. I know, broadband, who cares, but why would you intentionally use a slower browser.

5. It uses less resources than IE. Lots less.

6. It'll annoy Microsoft.

7. Tabs instead of new windows for diffrent pages.

8. It's standards compliant.

I mentioned that it was free?

Yep, what he said. Great browser. Just wish it would work on this POS Mac I use at work.

I've been using Mozilla since 1.3 on my desktops & started using Firefox on my notebook when it debuted.

Nice is all I have to say.

Works fine for me, of course I don't have anyone's messaging adress, but the page loads and functions fine. Looking at the source, I don't see anything that;s driven by J++ hooks or anything else that would cause problems.

Have you tried re-installing (or installing) the Sun Java plug in?

http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

I have the J2SE 1.5 beta installed so it's a little hard for me to judge where you're breaking down, but looking at the source for the page you linked I'd think it has to be the J-script somewhere. There's a little routine to check for browser type and builds a text array from what you type in. I'd imagine that's where you get hung up.

Again, though, works completely fine for me. I believe the current distro of sun java is 1.4.2, that's what you should see in the help about or properties of javaws.exe

Lol. The only bad thing about Avant is that it's just running on top of the same sloppy IE code. But go with what you like best, naturally. That's the important thing.

Avant can't run our ticketing system here either. It works fine at first... then (due to bugs completely within the system itself and avant's handling of some windows,) it gets stuck in an infinite loop. It all boils down to the fact that the ticketing system here is utter [:crap:]

More likely, the ticketing system was writen on/for IE. MS apps (IE in particular) just loooove to use custom "extra" java calls and functions that dont appear in anyone else's standard code.

Have you looked at wreq for your ticketing system? Works beautifully, is completely customizable, and uses actual honest to god standard perl and/or cgi to do everything on the back end. Heh. We had our corp group spend about 2 years and many millions of dollars purchasing and customizing a trouble ticket system for IT. We got sick of it, and put one senior engineer on the job and he had a more functional, stable and scalable system built off of wreq in about 3 days. It's realy that good.
