I d/l the Auto Profile Updater and open the software, I open EQ patcher, log onto my character, minimize EQ, click on the profile tab of the APU program, and there my character is with all of his gear, I click upload, but then...

"You've chosen to upload a profile, but a session cookie for allakhazam.com was not found. Do you want to log in now?"

I'm already logged into Allah, I've got it up and running in Netscape...I'm guessing that somehow the APU software is set to retrieve this needed cookie from an IExplorer directory, but the problem is my IExplorer doesn't work (long long story, many hours on the telephone with people who are probably in India trying to fix it, bottom line it doesn't work, everything else is fine, I like Netscape better, and I'm not rewriting my drive)

So... Is there a way for me to use Auto Profile Updater?

I guess I should be even more clear, this is the Auto Profile Updater program offered to premium members of Allakhazam.com, it allows me to upload all of my characters w/ current gear onto allah so that I can easily search for possible new gear...should have cleared this up the first time, wasn't aware that the tech forum covered multiple sites/games...

yeah, you need to be logged into allakhazam with an Internet explorer cookie to have it work. If you can give me a few details on your Internet explorer issue, and I might be able to help out there.

Bummer...

When I try to open IE a box immediately opens that says IE has encountered a problem and needs to close, do you want to send an bug report, etc...I'm not a tech guy, so thats about all I know...During my multiple hours of telephone time with Gateway they had me try a ton of things, deleting and redownloading certain portions of IE, its been awhile since it hasn't work and I initially called them...

They told me that IE is somehow integrated into WinXP (I don't see the benefit of doing this) so I can't just delete the program and download anew...I didn't have the time to take it in and let the Gateway people look at it b/c I use it regularly for school, was going to do it this summer, but now Gateway is half bankrupt and I'd have to mail it off, I don't think I can go that long w/o EQ, I think Gateway was in trouble for using bad hardware, thats probably why I'm having problems, though like I said everything else works fine, and I had to use Netscape which it turns out I actually like much better than IE...

I'm getting way off topic here, but its funny I've only had the computer for a year, it was the best Gateway had to offer, 512mb RAM, I was looking at dell the other day and they've got 4GB RAM pc's now, and EQ2 recommends to have 1GB, I'm gonna save up and get a new computer at the end of this year and use the gateway to play my music, so if you want to recommend a good gaming PC that'd work just as well, I'd really be surprised (and pissed at Gateway) if you were able to tell me how to fix my IE problem after just reading my very vague and lengthy off-topic explanation of that problem...

Ok, sounds like you have a corrupted internet explorer installation alright, try this:

(have your windows XP cd or system restore disc handy)
Step 1: go to Start: Run. In the box that opens, type sfc /scannow

let that run. restart, see if it fixed the issue. If not, try this:

go to Start: Run.
In the box that opens type regedit

Locate the appropriate registry subkey, right-click the

To reinstall Internet Explorer 6, use the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}

Find the
IsInstalled (REG_DWORD) value, and then click Modify.

Change the value data from 1 to 0, and then click OK.
Quit Registry Editor, and then install Internet Explorer 6. using the download from the Microsoft website.

I finally found my WinXP disc and followed your directions...

First thing didn't work...

Second thing - I followed your directions and I right clicked on the correct file and hit modify, and the value was already set to 0...

I think this was one of the things the tech from Gateway had me try, I still an IE icon, so I don't think downloading it again would help as I remember doing that already...

This really sucks now as the EQII beta requires IE to retrieve my PC information...

I went through the application process and submitted my address and what not and it ended on a screen that said "EQII Beta requires IE to blah blah.... click here for more information on the system requirements for the beta...", so I guess I'm still registered for the beta and if I'm accepted they'll want to gather my information at that time...

So I still have some time to try to get IE working before the beta, if you have any other suggestions, I'd like to give them a try...

Thanks for helping
