my comp. has an intergrated card that i would like to upgrade.
I have 3 empty pci slots but no agp.
speaking to a friend at work about the problems we are having with eq, I mentioned I was considering buying a pci card to upgrade.
it seems i had spoken the ultimate blaspheme.
he could not tell me why due to ranting every time i said pci.

what is wrong with pci?
agp i figure is better as computer manufacturers seem to use that as default but what is so wrong with pci?

thank you for your time

AGP is designed specifically to accellerate video graphics. A PCI card is approximatly 20 times slower than even a first generation AGP card for video graphics. PCI is better for cards transmitting normal card type data.

Honestly, your best bet, if you can afford it, will be tor grab a new motherboard (making sure not to get one with an integrated video card this time, and a decent AGP 8x slot. Try the intel 875 chipset boards, Asus makes a good one, as does Intel), Ram, Processor, and Video card, then pull your existing drives and put them all together in a new case.

thank you for the reply
it seems that i will have to either work around an intergrated card or fork out for a new system as 20% is quite a margin.

i can understand rants now lol.
have a friend who likes to build systems for a hobby(and make a few pp) so will let him loose and see how it goes.

if he in my budget then rock on.
if not its back to the drawing board with pci getting more attractive.

any eq is better than no eq
