Sup Kao, long time no post on my end.
Anyway here's my problem. Last weekend I zoned into BB and everything but the other PC mobs where either A) invisible-such as the trees and walls, or B) grey. I zoned into BB from the Gfay zone and I could actually see the toon at the brotherhood camp through the wall of the tunnel. Logged out, rebooted comp and started EQ back up everything OK.
Next time it was post patch on Wednesday night (3-24) I'm running around in Gunthak trying to get an old spell and all of a sudden the screen acts like my clip plane goes to zero, I get some intense lag in any open area and all of a sudden my UI starts flickering on and off. not even all the UI boxes either. I use the standard UI with some modifications with various windows but pretty much I'm default on that. Playing with the clip plane and other video settings did not effect the lag or it acting like my clip plane was turned down to 0. The lag seemed to be on the sending side rather then EQ flooding my computer with information if I have the send/recieve sides correct on the display. Currently I'm running an AMD 2400 with WinXP Pro with an Asus brand Nvidia Ti-4800SE video card and 1.250 Gig of ram. Updated video card drivers and Dx9b. Power supply is at 500 watts.

Any thoughts on where to look?

Did you upgrade to the new nvidia detonator drivers recently? 56. something I think? They are having some graphics issues with it, there is a new driver in the works set to be released in the next few days. If not, it could be that tecture caching got turned on in everquest and somehot was corrupted. Delete any *.txc files, and turn of texture caching if it is on and see if that solves the issue. I think it is the video driver though. You might want to try rolling back to a 53.0 driver if you can find it for now.

yeah, I updated all my drivers like EQ was ******** for. including 5664. Fortunately this has only happened twice and at nonimportant times. I'll definitely look into the texture caching. Thanks.

Hey Kao, hope you get this among the flood of posts about other problems. I rolled back the drivers and everything seemed to be working alright till I set up the ol bazaar mule over night. Now EQ is crashing when I zone. I do get the request to update the drivers to the 5664 version but I was running fine last night except for going to windows mode and minimizing while in bazaar with clip plane up (tends to freeze with a black screen at that instance, but if I remember to turn the clip down to 0 it works ok). Should I just continue to play with the drivers to see what works or check something else?

OK, as an update, I deleted the usual eqgame.exe, eqclient.ini and userdata folder just to see if that helped. yes it helped with the zoning crashes. Now to figure out why EQ crashes when I try to go to windowed mode.
