Yeah, I was mostly aiming for a more "this is what I think everyone with middle end gear should be wearing..." type post.

I do have some interesting questions for when I get some polearm merits under my belt though.

First, my TP set isn't going to change much from where it is, I feel I have a very solid understanding on how it works.. I will probably try to get a few things to tweak it a little. Askar Zucchetto, Askar Korazin, Homam Manopolas, Eventually Homam Cosciales, but I will probably try to get Barbarossa's Zerehs in the mean time.

But I have some serious questions regarding my WS gear for penta. I am thinking about getting a Wyvern Helm or Wyvern Helm +1 after I get some merits, because I will be pretty good on acc on WS. Also, I would probably switch out the spinel Ring for a Flame/Ruby +1 ring also. What other recommendations besides the obvious Hecatomb Subligar/Cap could I do to improve my WS set? Would you use Paluhwan Legs over Drachen Brais +1 or stick with the massive acc on the Drachen Brais +1?

Honestly I think Drachen Brias +1 will beat Pln pretty soundly... Pln is generally slightly better than Dusk, and the DB+1 beats that easily. However, what I currently use is a piece I would suggest: Aurum Cuisses. They are slightly worse than DB+1(for me anyway) for TP, and for Penta it may be similar or just very close, but when you eventually get Drakesbane, it should be the better choice imo. It also doubles as a very good ws leg for Wheeling Thrust also.

I think WS leg gear works something like: Ares>Heca>Askar>=Drachen Brais+1=Aurum>Pln>Dusk=Barone.

Conte and other such random +1 in there somewhere around where dusk and Pln is probably. There may have been gear I missed too.

hi everyone, got drg75 just a week ago, this is my first 75 DD job. here are my stuffs:

main: Thalassocrat
sub: Mythril grip +1 (get DA grip? or something else?)
ammo: Smart gernade (get Tiphia Sting?)
head: Optical hat / Wyvern helm (usually ohat for WS)
body: Pahluwan khazagand / Assault Jerkin (usually AJ for WS)
hands: Tarasque Mitts +1 (don't know any other good options)
legs: Pahluwan seraweels / Barone Cosciales / Aurum Cuisses
feet: Marine F boots (i guess i should work on Amir boots? any other good options?)

neck: Chivalrous Chain (PCC would be nice... but I am happy with chivy)
ear: Fowling earring / Assault earring (working on Brutal)
ring: Woodsman ring + Rajas ring (fulltime them for both TP and WS)
waist: Lifebelt / Warwolf belt (i think these 2 works pretty well? no need for upgrade?)
back: Amemet mantle +1 (good enough?)

Polearm skill not capped yet, but have 4/8 merits from PLD, also have STR5/5 and crit4/4

TP in haste gear: Walahra turban + Dusk gloves + Dusk ledelsens + accuracy gear

- What I do with my WS gear is... first I make sure I can land all 5 hits of penta regularly, then I start swapping out acc gear for att gear after I am comfortable with penta's accuracy. the order I switch them is:
1. Pahluwan seraweels -> Barone Cosciales
2. Lifebelt -> Warwolf belt
3. Optical hat -> Wyvern helm (but I haven't gone this far yet)
am I doing it right?


- Aurum Cuisses looks great for ws, so should I just ignore their att-4 because acc+7 and STR+4 totally make up for loss of 4 att?

- do I really have to replace Smart Grenade with Tiphia Sting? takes like 3 hours to kill Demonic Tiphia solo.. >_<

- Planning on getting Nuevogeon soon, and should I wear that for both TP and WS? (Actually I'd be really happy to know Pahluwan/AJ can cover TP and WS because that means I can get Royal Redingote for my SMN...)

- Working on getting Asuka.. which pieces are good? head body and legs?

- For 6hit build you need total of STP+35?

With a weaponskill like Drakesbane (and even Penta Thrust) would the +5 dex on Askar hands, or the +5 acc on af2 hands be better? Or would it not really matter too much? My Dex for weaponskills is 65+12 (+17 with Askar Hands) if it matters

Ideally Heca or AF+1...but uh, Tarasque+1 instead of either of the two you mentioned? Maybe? Neither of those really come to mind when I think of WS hands. :\

A little confused here, is this what you're using? Or the above listing? I made notes on the above listing assuming that's what you were using as TP gear.

Since you're using Penta Thrust you should be gearing primarily Acc and Att. Don't bother swapping Acc for STR out unless you're capping it, in which case you should be swapping out the extra Acc in TP gear too. STR in general doesn't do much for Penta Thrust, don't worry about putting on STR gear unless you're using Drakesbane or Wheeling Thrust. I'd say put on your Tarasque Mitts - in general take off any Haste gear you're using and try to stack in +Att in its place.

I'm honestly not 100% certain, but Aurum has always struck me more as TP gear. I don't think the trade off is worth it for Penta Thrust at all. Again with Penta Thrust you really want to be stacking acc and att. It only has a 20% STR mod.

If you want the Royal Redingote, go for the Askar/Aurum body. Aurum is the better of the two. Again, you can fulltime your AJ.

He means Askar.

As for STP, it's 26 you need for a Delay:492 lance, counting /SAM as 15, and 29 for a Delay:480 lance (Cletine). If for some reason it's a Delay:478 lance then it goes to STP+30.

So acc > att > str for penta.. and haste/acc > att for tp. It's good to know AJ is much more valuable than I thought it is, which makes me really happy.

I like to use Aurum Cuisses more often too but it's so ugly..

Yeah, thats pretty much the right idea.

Taking a second look at leg options I'd say it probably goes something like this Homam > Askar > Aurum.

Wyvern Armet = Wyrm Armet or Wyvern Helm? Nah, I'd stick with O-Hat. Maaaaaybe Wyvern Helm, or better, Askar, for Drakesbane if your acc is ok.
N. hands - Yes!
Smilodon mantle - Nope! Amemet +1/Forager's/Cerberus for Drakesbane/Penta. Smilodon +1 is ok for wheeling Thrust, given the cRatio bonus for 1-hit WS.
Warwolf - Ok If your acc is keeping up. I personally do use it over Life/Potent with my less-than-stellar gear.
Barone Cosciales - Only for offensive SJ-dependent Jumps, imo. I'd use something like Heca/Ares/Askar/Pahluwan (i.e something with acc/DEX).
Askar Feet - If nothing better, sure. Something as simple as Rutters would be better. Heca is wonderful. Amir is good too. Aurum also a solid option.

Maybe he meant Wyrm Armet because it has the 4 str? I use it for Wheeling Thrust but anything with acc would be better for the multi-hit weaponskills of course.

First of all, I'd suggest using a Scorpion Harness till you can get your AJ.

Second of all, what ws are you using? If you're using Penta Thrust don't get rid of any +Acc gear, *ESPECIALLY* not for STR gear. Instead just trade out Haste gear for +Att gear.

For Drakesbane put on as much STR as you can without sacrificing so much acc that you have trouble landing all 4 hits.

For Wheeling Thrust stack as much STR as you can.

-First of all sell the Potent Belt, get a Life Belt. Potent is at best a sidegrade from Life, not worth near the amount of gil it costs.

-Get a Tiphia Sting, or at least a smart grenade for your ammo slot

-Get a Pole Grip already

-For Legs best choice you have currently availible is Tabin Boots +1. If you can get the Assault points, Amir Boots at 72. Alternately Dusk Boots at 72.

-For hands you could go for Tarasque Mitts +1 possibly, or maybe hold out till dusk gloves at 72.

I was thinking about Tiphia, but I'm getting consistent hits with the gear I have atm, on Imps, birds, Jnun, etc. Is it worth getting more Acc+ if I'm hitting prolly... 8/10, somewhere in that range? I was wondering what Att+ and Str+ gear might be good if my acc+ is good enough.

Also, Pole Grip for /Sam?

Also, I'm using Mithkabobs, no sushi.

1) Alright my current set up has the following: +34 Acc, +8% Haste. I usually parse around 90% on birds. I just got my Swift Belt, which using gives me +27 Acc, +12% Haste. Should I always be using the Swift Belt?

2) Trying to figure out what the ideal Drakesbane setup I can put together is. I have the following Victory Rings x2, Warwolf Belt, Wyvern Helm, Wyrm Finger Gauntlets. Currently I'm swapping in all of that in for Drakesbane. Should I be giving up less Acc? Against birds I'm averaging between 900-1k with Minuet up.

Yes, try to use the swift belt for tp if you can. You have 8/8 polearm merits so I would think you should be able to do it with no problems. If you still have acc problems because of this you might consider a DRG Hauby from the ACP mission or other acc gear to fill out the remaining slots for tp gain (PCC, Amir Boots, Drachen Brais +1, etc).

Unfortunately I can't give advice on Drakesbane since I still don't have it.

I have faced it that I won't be doing much in the way of endgame since I'm still stuck on promys and some other missions. So basicly I'll my meriting with my drg. I know that I'll be meriting Angon first but what after that? I'll be lvling rdm sam and blm in my spare time. I would like to get the most out of what is available to me with the gear from endgame atm. Put 1 merit into Angon first just to get it. Then go 8/8 in polearm. Those will be the best merits you will ever get for DRG. You mention you also want to level sam so they will help that as well when you get to the level your sam can use Penta. The rest is really depending on your playstyle and what you do ingame.

As for gear, get a Wyvern Helm for WSs. If you have money then buy Dusk Gloves and Feet to TP in. The rest of the gear is solo for a new 75 DRG. Stuff to work on for later, Homam of course. Askar gear is really good. Amir boots are pretty easy to get and very good until you get Homam.

Ok, so I'm level 30 DRG/BLU at the moment,I have /WAR leveled for those party invites, but have found that I solo'd 28 of my levels so far. Here's my setup:

Minor upgrades for you.

Change the rings to Mighty Rings. These will last you until you get your accy rings in the 40s.

You may or may not want to change your weapon. Lance gives extra TP when you jump. Might also want to consider doing the quest for the Sachets that's all. Everything else is minor upgrades to HQ versions.

I wouldn't recommend selling Utsusemi: Ichi. Chances are more likely than not you're going to want, or be forced to use /nin at some point. However, once you hit 40 you can always do Royal Jelly to make some money - Utsusemi: Ni and Archer's Rings being the big ticket items. If you know how to /mage, and have another DRG friend that can as well it can be duo'd, otherwise you can do it as a trio of drg, drg, healer pretty easy. You can always farm another Uts: Ni scroll, you only get one Ichi scroll. If you're short on money you can get a Woodsman ring, and an Ecphoria Ring.

Don't listen to the advice to change your weapon, the Military Spear is better than the Platoon Lance. At your level the extra TP from the lower delay isn't going to mean anything. Also, you *DON'T* get extra TP on Jumps with Lances, this is absolutely BS. You do get more TP/hit with Lances because they tend to have higher Delay than other Polearms though (Higher Delay = More TP/hit). Only thing that gives TP to Jumps is equipment that says it does, such as Barone Legs/Body and Skystrider.

You'll want to get a Lance or Lance +1 at 34, from this point on you'll generally want to use whatever the best 'Lance' at your level is for your weapon. As long as you make sure to get your Accuracy rings you're doing fine.

Don't use Platoon Lance, use RS Halberd. The extra TP/Hit doesn't make up for the slower attack speed.

Stop trolling. "Doesn't seem right still," is a bunch of BS.

If you really want advice, lose Homam Body for Aurum, lose W. That for B. Tath or Smart Grenade, and lose Mythril +1 [lolwtf] for Pole Grip or Brave. Keep the 6 hit, still maintaining 401 ACC to cap on birds [-15 Homam, -2 lolmythrilgrip+1, +4 B. Tath, +6 Aurum body,] and get more STR/ATK. Honestly with that gear you should know better before giving advice to others.

okay I am looking for a little help with my tp and ws gear last night i finally got my hecatomb harness :D so I am now deciding to get serious with my gear. My main question is which body should i be tping in?

First of all ... you'll type out "Thallasso" but are too lazy to to type "crat"? Really? O.o

Next, lose the bibiki shell. Get a Tiphia sting, or if you're too cheap a Smart Grenade. Other than that your gear is respectable.

Nothing wrong with the AJ. The most accessible upgrade is probably going to be the Nuevo Coselete Haub-style. The best thing you could probably get is the Aurum body. Askar body is decent if it gets you to a 6hit build (hint: you'll likely need a Rajas Ring for that). You could also go for the Homam body, but unless you're having acc problems you should be better off with the other choices. Plenty of other places you can pick up Acc.

For your feet: Dusk, Homam, or Aurum are all good choices.

Just wanted to see if I'm on the right path with my setups for TP and Weaponskill. Currently working on CoP so I should have a Raja's Ring and
Brutal Earring before long, this also means no Homam. Working on Nyzul farm runs so gear from there should be coming soon. Also doing ZNM (working to multiple AG pops and a Tyger pop) so I'm hoping to get lucky there.

Neck: PCC, C.Chain, Light / Shadow Gorget

Homam Manopolas are just what you're looking for. Askar Manopolas would work too, but aren't as good. Use Dusk until you can get them, and run around in WS gear to avoid the -Movement (since unlike mages it doesn't really make sense for melee jobs to have idle sets, although more power to you if you macro in Regen gear for running around).

Actually, Homam in general for Hands/Legs/Feet would be the next improvement I'd shoot for, unless you're up for Aurum Sabatons soon, or manage to get lucky and get the +DEX +Haste Barone Manopolas from Scythefang Liger, or hacked SE's servers to get some Barbarossa's Zerehs (which I'm beginning to become convinced aren't actually a real item at this point).

Just the idle thoughts of a RDM (who screws around on his brother's DRG sometimes) passing through.

As far as Cletine goes, you have a 6hit with Askar, Brutal, Chiv, Ecph, Rajas and /sam with the gear you have. Cletine is 480 delay, I dont believe a true "6hit" will be possible with that delay. It is very good for Drakesbane, and arguably better for solo than Thal. Again, for most situations Thal will beat it.

Again, Homam. You have sea, work towards it. Hands, Legs, and Feet will be your best peices for TP (barring Dusk, Dusk+1 gloves, and Dusk+1 feet when you hit the ACC cap, and BZerehs at ACC cap). Homam Body will be a great addition to a jump macro. Sure dusk slows you down, but take it off. I use spellcast, so I instantly swap dusk for homam when I am not engaged.

Also, WS set...look into Hecatomb. Aurum has a few decent pieces as well... body, legs, and feet are decent. WS is definately a huge part of your DMG as DRG with 6hit. Being able to WS every 30seconds for 1200dmg is fun.

I'm currently at 2/8 Polearm merits and since I run on 360 I can't run a parser, but I think my accuracy still needs improvement. My questions: Should I be using Wyrm hands full time until I can get either AF+1 or more polearm merits? I have Drakesbane, I'm just looking towards getting it to be a little more consistant (as much as a 4 hit skill is going to be, anyways.) At what point should I be losing acc in favor of haste?

I've been 75 for a week and a half or so now, coming off being a career mage for many years so I hope I'm doing alright. Thanks for the help, everyone. :)

WS set currently sits at 411.6 = 411 Acc, 3Acc over Lv82 colibri cap (408).

Uses Scorp Harness and Aurum Sabatons. Considering swapping one to either AJ or Rutters.
Changing to Rutters would mean losing 4Acc (7Acc, but 3 already lost to cap) and gaining 5Att+3Str. Changing SH to AJ would again lose 4Acc but gain 18Att.

So 4Acc vs 5Att 3Str vs 18Att.
I'm leaning towards AJ+Aurum for 93% hit rate on penta, but still not sure.

Replace with Heca feet when they drop etc.

Been a long time since I last asked about my gear so thought I'd ask again. It's in my sig. I don't do HNMs or anything like that. I mainly do nyzul, limbus, ein, etc. Most of it is lowman stuff I just do with friends.

Upgrades in the works:

Homam pants - I run a Limbus shell and I am currently 4th in line. 0/6 on pants dropping for us since we started.
V.Fork - Next one to drop is mine.
Ares's - We're 1 Askar Helm from being done with Nyzul. Salvage will be replacing it.
WS Necks - Looking to get a PCC for TP and Fire Gorget for Drakes. I have a WS gorget for Penta but I rarely use Penta anymore.
Heca Feet - I don't do sky regularly anymore but some friend's are setting up some God runs. Supply the pop, get 1 item of your choice so I'll be praying they drop on my pop set.
Ethereal Earring - LS is doing the final fight this Friday.

Things I'm unsure about:

I WS in a NC body that has 10acc/3% crit I made just to use with Drakesbane. At the time it made sense and I've had good results with it but I'll be running the last ACP fight again in a few weeks and I wanted to know if there's a better setup to use with Drakesbane. I'm happy with having an Askar body for TP and I do use a 6hit build. I don't stress over it too much but I use it right now.

I don't do or plan on doing ZNMs so Aurum is out of the question. Besides that, I'm open to any other suggestions people might have.

I know they aren't hard but I just don't want to do them for various reasons. With RL and LS events I currently do now I pretty much have no time at all to fit in something new. My LS has had to hold on doing salvage because we weren't done with nyzul. Everyone in the LS plays only a little bit at night so we replace events as we finish them.

Now, can anyone give some insight on my ACP body dilemma?

If you don't have time to do ZNMs then you must not have time to do anything at all and must log on purely for events.

Farming Zeni you can do in your own time very easilly. Then just ask them if they can stay on for an extra 30mins or something while you kill the ZNM.

You do not need to set time aside, ZNM is not a proper event that needs schedualing, it's something very casual you can farm in your own time (instead of meriting or whatever) then ask friends or even shout for help to kill.

The "various reasons" is purely that you haven't dont it befor and don't think you can. Maybe if you actually tried you'd see how easy they are.

Seems like you're needlessly being stubborn.

If you'd said "I don't have the resources/gil to do T4 for Aurum body and the other pieces aren't worthwhile for me" then I'd say fair enough.

And you could post now and say exactly that, but it'd only because I said it. That's not the reason you haven't done them otherwise you would have said already. Nor is it whatever cock reasons people give about time/resources.

It's casual, it's easy, and it drops arguably the best DD feet for your Bst, even if you don't need them for Drg. I really don't see a reason not to try unless you don't care about Bst.

But then I'm seeing an Askar Body/Feet on it so maybe you don't w.
