As a taru i struggle to keep up and i wonder how much str you put in your gear.
127 str as taru and not much i can improve except leg piece for another 5 str and merits for another 5.
Asking more those elvaan who seems to break 1k ws more often than i do, how much do you have in?

I theoretically could pick up 2 from head, 1 from bow, 5 from legs, a couple from better food, and a handful of others that wouldn't actually be beneficial b/c I have more +fTP/+DA in those slots than STR could make up. Elvaan also has 11STR base on taru though.

As a mithra with 5/5 STR merits i got 141 (base+merits, Hasso, mithkabob). Elvaan got 8 more base STR and Taru 3 less than a mithra as far as I know, so there is your difference. However with standard gear you should be able to break 1k frequently depending on the mob.
The more aggressive you play the more dmg you'll do and in most cases it is allright to do so, even more if you're backed up by some competent healers, who don't sit an on their MP.
I don't intend to boast but as of now I have met about 2 or 3 other SAMs playing as aggressively as I do, not saying the others had bad gear or merits or anything like that, but the difference between an aggressive and a defensive stance is pretty big.

Well if i put hasso+food i have 142 wich is 1 more than you have Wolle, i still feel short, i only have 3/5 overwhelm but i dont think 4% gonna do something big.
I avg around 800 most of the time with lolaugmented hagun but i get better results on hard stuff where i break 1k easy. On low lv mob i just use soboro lately for 500-600 avg.

I think you are fine with 142. Just think of the maximum STR you can get w/o sacrificing neck/gorget ear/brutal grip/pole or augmenting.
It would be
Ifrits bow(3) +
Maats cap(7) +
Str earring(2) +
Osode (10) +
Alkys (11) +
Rings (10) +
smilodon+1(5) +
Warwolf(5) +
H.haidate(10) +
taru feet(4) +
Hasso (10) +
Red Curry Bun (7, should be the most you can get of food) +
merits(5)
= +90 STR you can get (excluding etudes/firestorm) w/o sacrificing gorget/brutal/grip or aumenting equip
Just pick what you miss aka merits, better food and H.haidate + whatever else. After that it is just race difference since there is not much space for improvement left apart from augments and maybe Tales of the Magian.
I don't know whether you parse your exact WS numbers against others, but if you don't I suggest you do that. You'll see that there is not much difference between you and others (playing aggressively that is).

Ifrit's bow is 3STR, smilo is better for 5, since he's taru he can get 4 in feet, and red curry is +7.
Biggest change you can make to increase overall dmg output though is definitely to be more aggressive though.

I see usu legs coming soon for another +5, 20mil haidate out of the question, next step will be an augmented bow.

The thing about this 1k average stuff is that it really just doesn't exist. A lot of SAM's just like to boast that they average 1.2k or whatever, but it really just doesn't happen. Your build is fine, about the same as mine. I like my Myochin Haidate+1 though for legs.
But don't feel depressed about your damage output because you aren't averaging 1k's, it doesn't happen. People lie to make themselves look better, simple as that.

you can avg higher than 1k if you're lazy with tp, and/or using poor subs/buffs lol

Looks pretty solid imo. For "cheap" buyable upgrades I'd say some STR+5 ring, str+2 earring, alky bracelets and rutter sabatons for ws (maybe I'm blind and just don't see why, but Hachiman feet b/c you don't have rutters/STP merits yet?) and a Foragers for tp.

i have the hachi feet in there to overload the store tp on the ws cause i'm a lil short on tp build (want to keep 6 hit and i know i need usukane feet but i HATE salvage) and i need the acc so that's why i opted for the fowling earring over a str+2 earring
i do know i should quit being cheap and get the alkys and the flame ring so i'll probably do that soon

What you might want to look at is Carbonara for Tping. Doesn't work very well at Colibri but everyone else its like SAM super food. It has +6 sTP +175 HP 65 attack and 4 STR. Lets you use full haste build and very little else.
