You're really limiting yourself if you don't do sky/sea/salvage, for a basic idea though:

tp
earring: fowling, minuet
ring: sniper/woodsman/ecphoria
belt: headlong?(new 3% haste belt)
legs: (this is your biggest hit) barbossa, dusk
feet: fulltime hachiman if you don't have rajas

WS
head: wyvern+1
earring: triumph+1, fowling
neck: bull
legs: fourth
feet: hachiman
ring: flamex2

Yeh i guessed i would be limiting myself but no longer have a sky/dynamis ls still on cop 2.5 and never done any of the other areas T-T

A lot of good SAM gear can be bought from the AH or bazaar, you just have to spend the time farming up the gil for items like Hagun, Hauby+1 etc.

For your TP build, center it around making a 6HIT build (so after you ws, it takes you 5 hits to reach 100% tp again) with haste and as much ACC as you can aqueeze in.

attack and STR are not important at all for your TP builds.

for your WS build, just put STR into every slot. I'll list a basic ws bulid for a new SAM that finds himself struggling in Vanadiel.

Thats STR + 49 and a very basic ws set. Theres not many earrings SAM uses for WS, I can think of 4 of the top of my head - Brutal > Bushi = Triumph > Fowling

SAM gets big upgrades from finishing CoP (Rajas ring + Brutal), Ark Angels (Bushi) and spending hours upon hours in sky going after Byakko's Haidate, Osode and Shura Haidate.

You need to really focus on CoP - once your half way through, you can do the swift belt and Soboro NM's - both those pieces are huge pieces of gear for SAM.

I'm not going to lie - you have a huge up-hill battle to make your SAM good. With max sTP merits, you just need 11 sTP to make your 6HIT work, but without Rajas, your limited there too. You'll have to build TP in Hachi hands and feet until you get your Rajas ring.

You need to work on finishing mission story lines and making lots of gil for now. Once you have CoP, Ark Angels and mini-expansion's done - you'll be in a much better position




EDIT: for the latest mini-expansion ASA, ACC+7 Haste+3% would be an ideal option for you.

For the first mini expansion ACP, ACC+10 sTP+4 would be a great body piece for you. Remember - you can swap your rewards from those mini-expansions with relative ease if you ever needed to. But that body would allow you to wear Fuma's on your feet for TP build, meaning its a solid upgrade..

What level should i start having a ws and tp build?

I know this is probably a dumb question. Am i supposed to have a tp set and then switch to a ws set when i use a ws, or do i need to have 2 different sets to use in different situations.

I've got at ton of sets XD

1) Yuki/Gekko WS
2) Kasha WS
3) Archery WS
4) Polearm WS
5) acc focus set
6) normal set (Hagun)
7) normal set (soboro)
8) all haste set
9) tanking parry/eva/-dmg set
10) Carbonara set
11) -hp set
12) +hp set (campaign cures)
13) /DNC cure set
14) +VIT Jump set
15) /DRG (soboro)
16) /DRG (not-soboro)
17) polearm tp
18) Town set

etcetc

minimally you need 2, when you get enough tp switch to WS set, then after you WS switch to tp set.
