Byakko's <--> Shura?Follow

I recently got a D.Legs abjuration in Sky, and I'm wanting some opinions on the priority Shura legs would hold against Byakko legs (which I feel like I should still want/need) in various situations.

I know the 15 DEX on Byakko's makes it a must-have piece for my polearm build (at the very least, macro'd in for Penta) but I'd assume the 7ACC on Shuras would outweigh Byakko's for TP...are Byakko's Haidate a piece that SAM should even consider wearing full-time?

for GK build, I feel like the line is a little more blurry, if only because I'm not sure if I'd be "overdoing" the ACC for TP build. Here's my current gear:

Weap: Onimaru/Tomoe
Sub: Pole grip (I also have Mythril +1)
Range:
Ammo: Bibiki Seashell (I need to get around to getting a Tiphia Sting, it's not ranking high-priority against other gear that I need/want right now)
Head: Walahra Turban (Wyvern Helm macroed in for Y/G/K)
Neck: Chiv chain
Ear1: Coral Earring
Ear2: Fowling Earring
Body: Hauby
Hands: Dusk Gloves (macro in Pallas hands for Y/G/K. I also have Hachiman hands, but since I don't have a Rajas yet I haven't focused too much on sTP gear or merits.)
Rings: Woodsman x2 (macro in Rubys for Y/G/K)
Back: Amemet +1
Waist: Life Belt (Warwolf for WS; Y/G/K as well as Penta)
Legs: AF (and I'm sick of looking at em...lol...I'm saving up now for a Cursed Haidate)
Feet: Fuma sune-ate

My GK is fully capped/merited, sitting at 292 skill...for Polearm, I'm still working on those merits-- 4/8, capped at 248 skill right now. Any advice/opinions?

Im actually upset my shura legs have become obsolebte with my obtaining usukane legs ; ; (wasted gilz = me upset!)

Your on the same server as me, and the names familiar, so i'm guessing the question is serious, especially if SAM's your first job to 75 and your learning how to play it properly.

Haidate - Yes, its the best TP piece available to SAM, and its the combination of 11acc + 5% Haste that does it, both stats increase your DoT by more than 5% each, The 5% Haste can boost your DoT by more than 10% in certain situations.

Shura - Use for WS, simple as that (use as both tp/ws until you get haidate if you get lucky enough.

For your 6HIT: 5/5stp merits + Job traits = 35stp, Hachi hands + feet are enough for your 6HIT. When you get your Rajas, you can change your build as required.

Other things: you seem like a career SAM atm, grab yourself a Bushi from DM, (unless your wanting a suppa for your blu). Work hard on CoP, Rajas + Brutal are both seriously ITG pieces of armor and never come off for SAM. Get those Stp + Overwhelm merits maxed (u can finish Polearm after, making a good working GKT build should be first and foremost).

orz, i realized this thread was one of those "you should already know the answer" threads once I got the first reply. Yes I made a couple of gross oversights and shoulda checked some more things out before posting. Major orz for that.

I wasn't asking if Shura is BETTER than Byakko's; i should have rephrased to be more clear that I was wondering just where Shura rank against them, because I very rarely even see them mentioned around these parts anymore. I'd rather sit thru the "LOLYOUASKEDABOUTBYAKKOSINSAMFORUM" stigma than the "LOLYOUWASTEDGILZONTEHlolSHURA" one...

It honestly depends on what else you have available if Shura is a waste or not. Also how much you like the looks.
If you don't have Byakko's or Usukane, it's not a waste.
If you have Byakko's but not Usu and not AF +1, it's not a waste.
If you have or can have relatively quickly either AF+1 or Usu legs, then it's pretty much up to you... you might like the way Shura looks better.

Personally, I don't plan to get it, but it doesn't mean I think people who have it wasted their gil.

Oh and, yeah, you're going to have to endure the ribbing(though some might be worse). You're taking it pretty well atleast :P

I used to do this:

Tp in hachi hands + Ecphoria ( Since you dont have Rajas anyway ) + Chiv. Chain, WS in hachi feet + body + Chiv Chain + Ecphoria.


Comparing the relevant pieces from what you said above:

TP
Hands Equal
Feet: +2 STR on your, vs +3% Haste on mine
Rings #1: +5 acc on your vs +4 acc on mine
Neck: +10 Acc on your, +3 STR on mine

Total:
Your set
+6 acc

Mine
+3% Haste
+1 STR


WS
Body: +2 STR on your
Hands: +7 STR on mine
Ring: +5 STR on your

Total: Equal

There are minor differences, and the WS set has the same STR pre-rajas. Your set does seem a bit more expensive than what i used, including Osode and Flame, while the big expense on mine is Alkys. I do use more inventory though.

Either way, its a difference from 6 acc to 3% haste and 1 STR on the tp set. Go with whatever suits your needs.


The op will realize that nowhere legs have been mentioned. Tp in Byakkos, WS in Shura. Thats a definite until you get Usukane legs for WS, Full Usukane for TP or Hachiryu for WS.

Honestly? The one we have is only around a year old and nobody seems to check it anyways (as seen here). If you're really bored go ahead, but there have only been a handful of new pieces/changes.

Actually if wanna bug an admin, take the old one->reply to this-> quote original-> make the minor changes it needs-> cite Bleam as primary author-> Have Admin post your updated version and remove the old one would work well with minimal effort.

I used usukane hizayoroi for penta for I spam crab sushi and has usu feet :x
