Your stat merit choices?Follow

I left changing my stat merits or adding to them until the last thing, and because they requre so many merit points you kinda want to get them correct. Stat merits in abyssea are worth next to nothing due to all the stats we get from atma and furtherence but out-side abyssea and post abyssea I want to make sure I have the stat merits correct. I also want to make sure I have capped crit rate from dDEX for practically everything. That meaning my crit rate should be 30% on everything from dDEX, merits and Iga body.

Our Iga set and Rajas ring gives us +42 DEX on our +2 gear so making sure dDEX is capped shouldn't be difficult as our best gears have chunky DEX on them. As we know, we need to be +50 Dex over the mobs AGL with the real gains comming from the final 10DEX it takes to get to +50 DEX over mobs AGL.

My stat merits are currently 5/8 STR, and I realise how important fSTR is, especially for ninja as our weapons are low damage so fSTR will curently cap at 13 for most of us main-handing either a Sekka+2 or a 85 Kanagi. 2fSTR for a WAR using a Widowmaker might be worth 1.6% dmg more at most, but 2fSTR using an EVA Sekka+2 is worth more than 4% DMG.

I know the main is to just go 8/8 STR, but after Abyssea I want to make sure my crit rate is capped, and some of the tougher mobs might need the additional 8DEX from the merits. Hoping to get some nice augments on Byakko Haidate too so the huge chunk of DEX is there incase I need it on tougher mobs.

looking at it in writing has kinda made me feel the 8/8 STR is the best option, would like some other opinions though. It takes some 72 merit points to go 8/8 stats so want to make sure I get them right for after abyssea - maybe 4/8 of each?

Im guess STR is the likely way, I just want to make sure I have capped crit rate. I'mbetting ACC will become an issue again in the future so that always helps. MNK could arguably benefit in a similar way to nin in 8/8dex, but unfortunately theres nothing like the DEX there is on Iga set. Ninja is pretty much my main now, I just hope SE keep the job current because it has so much versatality. Getting an additional shadow to Ichi and Ni was icing on the cake too. The problem at 75 was there was little distinguishing between nin and /nin, SE's done a good job at sorting that out. Unfortunately with how relitively weak our weapons are (although incredibly fast hitting) we're going to need a decent crit rate still else we'll just be poking mobs most likely like we were before.

I was considering 8/8 CHR for landing /BRD songs .....
