NIN AF3 +1 Low-man?Follow

Hi there,

I somewhat recently pushed my NIN to 90 and now I'm in the process of getting all the seals it needs for AF3 armor. I've finished the Legs and Hands so far, but now I'm stuck on what to kill for the Head and Feet pieces, as I have generally not tried killing(my LS is not very helpful in terms of seal-farming) or low-man any of the NMs that drop it before.

I mostly pair up with a RDM for duoing, what do you guys suggest is the best course to take for Head and Feet seals?

Also, a side-question...is it feasible to attempt to farm amber lights with just 2 players for the purposes of getting the Feet armor pieces from Gold boxes? Or is this something I'm going to have to find a full group for?

Thanks in advance.

I can't comment much on seals, because I did them with a WHM and I tanked on my RDM/NIN. We mostly did Lord Varney, he dropped a NIN seal almost every time. It was awesome. The only dangerous thing about Varney is Aeroga III followed by a TP move. I don't know if Cure IV would be enough. You should most likely be fine, though. We did the crawler a handful of times too, and got grellow a ton, and it rarely ever dropped NIN seals...I'm not sure about the kraken.

Feet seals is a joke. Do the slug (Can't recall the name, Berstuk? I think...). Just grab a Regen atma and Cure IV keeps you up easily. In fact I rarely even needed Cure IV, was a pretty relaxing NM, and had a good rate on nin seals.

Yes, it is feasible. Most of my AF feet that I own (I'd say 80% or better) came from 2-3 man groups. Although everytime I run lowman all of us are DDing (Even the WHM goes /nin and hexa spams) so i'm not sure if your rdm duo partner is a good nuker/melee'r or not. Cap azure first, and catch up in time before you start capping amber. You generally wont have a problem with TE's if your killspeed is decent enough but sometimes you'll go in long spree's without getting them. The law of averages works itself out though *usually*.

Head: Berstuk looks easier than the other two options. He's so easy that the last time I went to fight him with a few friends from my LS, we found two other groups also there trying to do Berstuk.

Feet: Lord Varney and Pascerpot both look doable for solo or duo. Perhaps Iku-Turso as well (I see one testimonial of a THF duoing it with a mage for backup).

I solo farmed my WAR and BLM boots recently as NIN/DNC. My friend came to leech his lvl 45ish WHM, and it actually sped things up since he could keep me hasted and he took care of popping chests, which freed me up to just keep killing. It could take a while to get the boots for a specific job (I wound up getting numerous MNK, RDM, WHM and WAR pieces that went to people in my LS before I finally got BLM). But it's definitely doable solo/small group.

Berstuk and Blazing Eruca are both duo'able for head seals. For Blazing Eruca, his spikes kind of suck, so your healer will basically have to spam cures on you non-stop.

Feet I haven't done yet but I plan on doing Iku-Turso since he drops DNC as well. Should also be a trivial duo... most NMs of this "tier" in Abyssea are pretty easy to duo on NIN + healer if you have some good atma and a few HP+ abyssite.

You really shouldn't need +HP atma, I do just about everything with GH/RR/AoA. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't solo most of these. But for the sake of procs, make friends with a BLM that can sub BRD, and a BLU. BLU should be able to proc/heal too. And if they can't, get a WHM.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I had pretty much thought it would be Berstuk and Pascerpot, but I wanted to confirm here before I tried it. I guess I'll have to make a night of it to farm ambers and kill Pascerpot in Vunk.

I said HP+ abyssite, not atma. Don't waste an atma slot for HP, obviously, except for maybe Sanguine Scythe since it has crit damage on it as well.

The HP/MP+ abyssites of merits are so great to have though. Most are relatively painless to get. The only real annoying one is the one in Konschtat you need level 6 rep for.

Touche, my apologies for reading incorrectly. But once again, even SS shouldn't be necessary. Any NIN that has had Abyssea for longer than a week should have Kamome and Q. Tathlum, making SS pretty much crap. Give em another week and they should have a Lokis, thus making it completely worthless.

Can you explain why SS is worthless? I'm not seeing it, maybe I'm just missing something... The critical hit damage bonus caps at 50%, according to wiki.

Kamome +10%
Qirmiz +3-4%
Lokis +5%
Iga neck +2%
Cavaros +3%

At best you're sitting at maybe +25%. I think I saw a number for SS once that was +30% (wiki says unknown value, currently). If that's the case, sure you're not getting the full benefit, but you're pretty close to it.

The HP+20% and Enmity+20 are just icing on the cake.

If you have Razed Ruins, you'll hit that cap without Sanguine Scythe. If you don't have Kamome/Qirmiz/that other stuff, then SS will give you another 20% before the cap kicks in. If you use any of that gear regularly, then it cuts into even that partial benefit.

If you don't have Razed Ruins yet, then maybe Sanguine Scythe has a place, depending on how many Lunar Abyssites you own.

Oh, duh, RR. Forgot that had crit potency on it, and not just crit rate.

You can farm the Iga Kyahan solo if you like by getting Amber lights on Ephemerals and Pearl lights from Vu'zdeis (if you have a Clear Demilune Abyssite) and whacking away at Devegetators. The process is much faster, though, if you team up with a group that's also farming boots.

I fought Blazing Eruca for the head seals, but this was in a group of 4 or 5 so I cannot say whether it is doable with 2. That Blaze Spikes effect gets really bad after a while, making a BLM almost invaluable.

Pascerpot's a tricky one sometimes. It almost always seems to go to Banishga III just as you're casting something else. Tanking it isn't so bad on NIN, though, if you have /DNC (Violent Flourish makes things a lot easier). Drop rate stinks without Yellow !!, however.

I duoed THF+WHM on Blazing Eruca a lot. Its definitely duoable and very easy. No reason why NIN couldn't duo it with a mage as well.

Every NIN Seal NM (if you go the Audumbla/Tiger route for hands/body) can be duo'd and some solo'd. Legs and hands srping to mind for NIN/DNC solo's.

pascerpot tends to drop TONS of mnk seals, i killed it many times and i say lord varney is way better for iga seal
iku-turso shouldn't be a problem if u can reduce magic damage, which he usually spams, waterja and maelstorm are no joke
i'd definitely go for pascerpot or lord varney, but the vampire is often heavily camped, so if that camp is budy just switch to crawlers
berstuk for head seals is great, the camp is not that safe, but the nm is quite easy and has an average drop rate
for legs i went for minax bugard, which has no particularly good drop rate, but being it part of the sobek path you'll find the KI usefull
