Black Belt or what?Follow

Hey guys, my GF is taking up MNK for the same reasons as everyone else. Anyways, is a Black Belt still a good thing to aspire towards, or would one do well to work around all that effort with a Brown/Twilight Belt?

Also, since I'm pretty sure the answer is still "get and use a BB however you can," how does one get one? Still just Bonanzas, three kings, or BCNM?

Brown Belt, AF3+2 hands, legs and head gives you 24% haste, which makes it worth it to use AF3+2 feet over haste shoes. Black belt would top you off easily. The real benefit of BB will probably come as new gear is released. If you have BB, you won't be locked into AF3+2 hands/legs/head to maintain capped haste. I have heard SE plans to release something superior to BB, but I haven't seen that officially and who knows if you would need BB in order to trigger a quest or something (like brown belt for black). Like has been said, I would make BB a priority after finishing AF3+2.

BB items do still drop from KS99, they have only been removed from NQ kings.

Wrong wrong wrong! I have seen this said and it's apalling that people would spread this false information.
I just did The Hills Are Alive KSNM 99 last week. The alliance I was in defeated this KSNM 15 times. Out of those 15 runs we got 4 Adamantoise Eggs. Blue Pondweed (the pop item for Adamantoise) drops 100% of the time.
If you want to get the Adamantoise Egg, you can try your luck with the KSNM 99 fight. If you don't get it, you can use your blue pondweed to pop Adamantoise. Killing him will get you a red pondweed which you can then use to spawn Aspidochelone. Aspidochelone can drop an Adamantoise Egg but I don't know the drop rate for that.
Depending on your situation, you may be able to go about this differently. If you have friends that are willing to use their Kindred Seals for you, then perhaps you can eventually get an egg from the KSNM.
Also, you can bazaar your blue pondweed if you want. I sold mine on the Sylph server for 500k because I was lucky enough to get an Adamantoise Egg on my 2nd attempt.

SE recently changed the system the Kings were on, and as a result, the black belt items. As a result of the update, doing one of the KS99 fights (let's say behemoth) grants you an item for the win, a Beastly Shank. Trading that item to a ??? will pop normal quality behemoth. Defeating him has a small chance to provide you with the item to pop King Behemoth.

And yes, the normal qualities no longer drop BB items and the HQ version is no longer 100%. Not sure the thought process behind it; SE might even think this increases the amount of BB items in circulation, for all I know.

Meh my bad. I did 10 runs of Hills are Alive for no BB item drops. I also talked to people from other LS and they had not see any BB items from any of the KS99's after the update. Even now weeks later no one I know has gotten a BB item from the KS99's.

Nah, you should come back. I need another MNK who has taken a longer break than I have, and therefore will be even more gimped than me by today's standards >.>
