Ok, I know this sounds like a retarded question but I keep getting told by LS that Rudra's Storm is not that good and Ukon would be better, blah blah blah.

I am pretty determined to prove them wrong but I would feel better hearing my-Twashtar-is-so-awesome-zomg! stories from you guys. Thanks.

The honest non-sugar-coated truth is that yes, Ukon would be better. It's one of the strongest, if not the strongest Empyrean(s) out there.

That said, I have THF, DNC and WAR at 95+ and I chose Twash without even thinking twice and I haven't regretted it at all. I'm on THF most of my time in-game and DNC is amazingly fun so it wasn't a rough decision for me at all.

Twashtar itself is a double-edged sword dagger. On one hand, Rudra's is not the be-all end-all WS that some of the more popular Empies give you - you can't just auto-attack and spam Rudra Rudra Rudra like you can with Smite or Ukko's. Rudra's is amazing stacked but loses to Evisceration in Abyssea and DE/Evis/Exenterator outside unstacked most of the time (there are a few times when it's beneficial to Rudra's instead to take advantage of the Amtermath but that's up to you). On the other hand, it gives the job a lot more flexibility with our WS choices and opens up a whole new level of fun and variety. Plus it looks bad **** in a My Little Pony way and next to Mandau it's the best dagger we have access to.

Random thought, but Bully was also a godsend to Rudra's (Mercy as well), especially in solo/duo situations. Where before we had to chose between unstacked Rudra's and aftermath or a stronger WS, now we can have the best of both worlds every three minutes. I also like to TA the **** outta my mule, but that's neither here nor there Smiley: lol

Twashtar is great. For thf.
Ukko is great. For war.

If your LS is telling you a Ukko war will out damage a Twash thf, they are right. But that has little to do with Ukko being better than Twash. It has to do with War having all the tools to destroy planets and thf not having that raw power natively.

War is just designed to dish out far more damage than (an equivalent) thf ever will. We cant get a 5hit build with absurd amounts of DA combined with retaliation and max haste+hasso 80% cap easily to be able to have 100TP before the WS animation finishes. We dont get all the JAs to directly enhance our damage. We dont get 2hander stat boosts for free atk/acc. We dont get everything from zerk to blood rage to boost our damage out of the water.

War is just a stronger DD than thf. Put a good weapon on (arguably) the strongest DD class in the game, of course its going to win compared to the sneaky/hate control/TH/Support DD Thf.

It really has nothing to do with Ukko being stronger than twash. Its comparing war to thf. In raw damage potential, war>Thf.

You dont play thf to KillAllTheThings!.jpg

This so many times.

I have a twash, i love my twash. Am i a war? Nope. Will i out DD a ukko war? nope. Will i beat all the thfs? Yup. I wuv my thf, but im not delusional about fighting for the #1/2 slot for best DD in the whole world :P (thats what my Ryunohige drg is for!!! >:D)

Painfully worked on my Twashtar from May until December and finished it. No second guessing myself, even when the war in our LS finished his Ukon a few weeks before me and I saw how devastating the weapon can be and what I potentially missed out on.

No regrets though. I use mine mostly on Dancer and really changes the way the job can be played, taking a more much aggressive and busier style and drastically increasing damage potential.

Ukkon's getting hit with the nerf bat. The base crit rate is being brought in line with other crit based WS and some of the WAR abilities that made it so overpowered are getting a nerf too. It was just too good to last.

I don't have a twashtar (nor will I ever) but I did get the WoE dagger with Rudra's on it (I know there's not much comparison when you factor in the aftermath) I also play more with DNC than THF. But I love the WS, stacked with JAs it's pretty good. On DNC with climactic and building flourish it will utterly destroy evisceration inside and outside of abyssea, especially if you chain two of them together for a self-darkness and use a TP bonus dagger offhand. On THF it will sometimes spike higher than evisceration inside of abyssea depending on double/triple procs, and usually beat or at least equal dmg of other WSs outside when stacked with JAs, unstacked it's a bit disappointing. Mostly I just love the SC properties, and the fact that it is a single hit which makes it pretty devastating with my DNC JAs, it makes for a lot of mind-bending DMG combos when you mix it with all that DNC can do. On THF, sadly, It's still fun to have, but not as useful imo, however, the high base dmg on twash will definitely increase the damage of your other WSs. I imagine the aftermath from Twash would make it a lot more awesome and practical to use on THF, but Im not doing Glavoid again, the three Ukons we did for my LS were more than enough for me to know I never wanna set foot in tahrongi again.
