For the past year or so, I haven't played XI much. I did play in October and a little of November, and maybe a little in the beginning of the year, but not a whole lot. About a week ago, I came back to XI yet again.
My SAM and SCH were already 85, so I got them caught up first. After that, I did some SJ work, got my magian GKT caught up, and started gathering atmas. Needless to say, in addition to a lot of playing, my past few days have involved a lot of reading as I struggle to learn everything I've missed.
Finally, this brings me to my THF. I got an Abyssea exp pt for my THF last night, and upon arriving at camp it occurred to me that I don't know what to do as far as daggers go. I have a Blau, a Att magian dagger that's on the 6th of 10 (flans) trial, and an Acc magian dagger that's also 6/10 (qutrub). However, I'm unsure if these two magian daggers are worth the effort atm, particularly the Acc dagger.
For my GKT I went with the obvious choice of 100% TP bonus. The Fusetto+2 options intrigue me, and I wonder if my time would be better spent working on one of those. I would really like to know what the general consensus is regarding magian daggers these days.
Oh and I also have a Kartika in the VNM phase that I plan to complete (no doubt into the lesser +2 Daka since I don't have any LS at all atm), but that's something that I'll tackle as I can, as opposed to something I can really focus on knocking out solo/duo.
(Also I did see a few other threads dealing with the same sort of topics, but they all seemed to be from before the last update, and I was hoping for the most up to date opinions).

My opinion for this is definately finish the atk Kila - even with atmas, thf's atk is low, and if you have good atmas, you probably aren't using atk ones, so the STR may be moot, but the 24-25 atk on them is not. I have stopped working on my dex kila for now, I may finish it just to complete it, but I am not going out of my way to do it. If you solo as a thf, or tank, an agi kila or 2 is a good idea, I am looking at starting these right now, as it seems I am going to have to solo most of my seals for my AF upgrades. I will probably work on a sTP fusetto too for situations where I only minimally TP on mobs.
Also, there are some good non magican daggers to go for. AHable if you don't want to do the magican trials you can get a Verus Knife +1 for pretty decent DoT in teh mean time, they aren't too expensive.

Thanks a lot. It's a bit overwhelming to try to figure out all the new stuff, how to gear, etc. It really helps to be able to set some goals for myself.
Another cheap option if you have done any dominion ops is the Yataghan that you can get from the Dominion Tactician in Abyssea -Grauberg. Its a bit of a crap shoot getting good augments ('I've done about 30 now and best are a D+7 with some useless elemental stuff and a D+5 with Crit damage +4% and Resist Stun +3. Can get up to D+8 apparently though, and I've found both of the ones I've gotten to be nice additions if I want that tiny bit of EVA. I'm pretty sure that if you could get a D+8 Crit+6 if could hold its own against some of the other mainhand daggers out there (the crit damage is really nice especially when you are using something like RR and crit pretty much 90% of the time lol).
Of course other options will trump these eventually, but if you get lucky after a few tries, it will tide you over until you can finish you att Kila.

Wish I was even half lucky to get close to that.... tried about 40 times and only got D+3 on 1 dagger and crit4% on another...never had dmg and crit on the same dagger ; f
...but then again all my elemental magian daggers are done =P

Sadly I don't have anything else to spend dominion notes on, and we have been doing them a lot to work on subs/merits (one day I'll go THF or DRG and she'll be on a sub, the next she'll go on DNC and I'll go on subs). She has probably done the same amount at this point, and her best has been a D+6 and a D+4 with 5% crit. Definitely luck of the draw though... but when you get a 7k gil return on each wasted try... its not really all that wasted :)

At least they're npcable.
Also Auric dagger is still a good dagger, high drop rate and the NM is an easy duo with 2 Rdm or Blm

I do not play THF that much anymore, its mostly BLM and MNK in Abyssea at the moment
to get seals for AF3. I have however finished my Fire and Thunder Kila trials, so
am currently using dual wielding these.
I am not going to start any Empyrian trials yet, but have access to Shinryu now so
can get a Twilight Knife. Also, from what I have read, Rapidus is fairly easy to obtain too.
If I get the Twilight Knife and Rapidus, do I go Fire/Twilight, or Fire/Rapidus
or Twilight/Rapidus?

Most everything you can mnk and kill you can thf and kill just about as fast but have TH. Seal farming partys for me are almost always thf blm whm + whatever.

Agreed, Mnk is for proccing blue, or for tanking a monster that can still OHKO you on thief with HP buffs/atma.

Does TH affect seals drops? I thought it was yellow proc that increased seal drop rate?

NM's we are fighting right now.
As for my original question, when not tanking, which combo of daggers would be best when I
get Twilight and Rapidus? When tanking I assume I would swap one (or possibly both) of the daggers out
with an evasion Kila (I still need to start this trial).
