New Theif Looking For HelpFollow

I just joined ffxi and i have all expansions I'm just wondering as I'm leveling my theif he is extremely weak with his dagger as there are no level 7 or 11 daggers in the ah I'm forced to use the beginning Onion Dagger I recently bought a sword but don't know if i should stick with my dagger which is already level 36. I have been getting a lot of help from 2 friends who heal me as i kill tough or even matched monsters as i can not solo them cause how weak i am. I was just wondering if their is any advice any experienced theifs can give me I am also a tarutaru this may be why I'm missing out of 1-2 damage i could potentially be doing but it shouldn't matter to much? I tried finding dune parties but no one was there so I soloed to 11 in the fields before dunes I am on the server Bahmut and my ingame name is MooRoo if anyone want's to add me

Strangely enough, a sword will be one of your best weapons until level 33, where daggers become a much stronger option again. If you can afford it: Buy a Royal Archer's Sword from the AH. If you have friends helping you out, have them check the Jeuno Auction House if you can't find one yourself.
As for leveling: People still party, but getting Fields of Valor pages and soloing ends up being about the same speed as the average pickup party. Just put up your party flag while soloing. Partying before level 15 or so tends to be rare these days, though.

Thanks once I will be training my sword and hopefully will be able to match up and finally kill evenly matched monsters I don't want to constantly rely on my friends to heal me as I go into 5 minute fights that take others 1-2? So hopefully this sword option will take me up a notch and I've decided to solo till 15 as a lot say is smart so thanks for the help and ill ask about that sword.
A quick tip on the /check feature at low levels. An "even match" mob just means it has the same level as you. For a lot of jobs, that means it will kill you easily if soloing. Given that your evasion isn't capped, and you have no way to heal yourself, I would stay away from them if alone. Best bet for making progress is to get a Fields of Valor page and fight Easy Prey / Decent challenge targets.
Also, always keep signet on. It gives you a huge defense bonus on anything your level or lower.

Dont forget to use food while you level also. Always, always always use food. At your level , if your missing alot you can use Jack O lanterns which have +10accuracy and +10evasion. I used them alot during the lower levels and each one will last you 3 hours, not bad at all.
As mentioned by the others above, sword will be your highest dmg Weapon skill for a while. (Sneak attack+ Fast Blade) But try to keep your daggers capped as much as possible. After level 33 you will be using daggers for the rest of your Thief career usually. Good luck on Thief, its an amazing job, and one of my favorites by far. :)

Another fun combo I tried when I was lving thf sub way back was Thf/Mnk. I used this combo till the jungles (pre lv sync). Boosts+SA+Combo was quite deadly. May want to avoid this if you dont have dagger or sword leveled up previously.
Thinking of lving thf again on my 2nd char for TH2 and maybe eventually 75. How are thf invites these days?
