So I'm pretty overwhelmed by all the new stuff int his update, though in a good way. New level, content, and a crazy lot of gear. Basically I needed to write this out for my own purposes rather than anyone elses, or else I'd have a difficult time maximizing my own builds. Figured it'd be a good thing to share it. And that way, if anyone wants to pitch in since this isn't a comprehensive sets (I'm missing various DE/EV sets, for example), you can post what you think is the new ideal set in a given build.

Still though even though I didn't write it all down, these sets cover a lot of ground. I feel both happy and irked by how many pieces I think are going to get replaced. And personally, I'm wondering if SE will follow through and add Magian Trials for select pieces of our current 'treasured equipment', though they were quite vague about what might happen.

I may have made a few mistakes down there, so feel free to correct me.

===========New Equipment Listing===========

nice guide (even though I have to look up the stats myself lol). But definitely gives me a good basis as to what I want to go after...

But in saying that...is anyone else on the fence about spending a lot of time on the new gear? I mean I want to be the best I can for right now...but we still have 19 levels to go....

Don't focus too hard on the new gear Kalisa. Like you said we still have a long way to go and what is good now might be replaced in the next patch. SE seems to have gone a new way with gear. Instead of making side-grade after side-grade they now actually have moved on to making better gear.

Having that said if you can get your hands on the new stuff by all means go for it.

and rate up for the guide Shamaya.

Aurore Brais look like pink Noct pants, and Ocelot gear is all leopard skin print.

@#%^ SE why don't you just add an ACC+5 Haste+5% hat using the jester cap model to complete the clown suit.

While you're ranking equip, lets talk daggers for a sec. (in other words, I suck at damage calcs and I want you to do the work for me XD)

Flame Kila: DMG 38 delay 190 STR 6 att 16

Thunder Kila: DMG 38 delay 190 DEX 6 acc 12

Twashtar: DMG 42 delay 176 (obvious winner if you have capped acc?)

Parazonium: DMG 33 delay 211 OAT

Parazonium: DMG 20 delay 211 OA 2-3

Parazonium: DMG 41 delay 211 DA+7

Auric dagger: DMG 39 delay 201 SB+10 Enhances DW

And most importantly...is it time to say goodbye to DMG 33 delay 178 att 16 acc 5 for one of these?

I'm definitely getting my Kila's either way, but I have no idea which 2 of the above would be the best combo.

Took awhile to format, but I updated it so now you can look at two things,
-The current "best" gearsets possible
-Listing of all the new gear and possible applications

That's the pink noct set? And it seems like only yesterday I graduated from cobra unit subligar...

Totally not a thf, by the way. What color does blu + pink make?

Kubira is still best

Hecatomb Harness +1; > ~Loki's Kaftan

1 STR is worth 1.5 DEX on MS. Unless the "increases critical hit damage" doesn't suck then no.

Quote:
Hecatomb Mittens +1; > ~Heafoc Mitts

Heafoc is worth 19.5 DEX, heca+1 is worth 17 DEX but doesn't have -10 ACC (-2 ACC from -4DEX). your offhand hit and multi procs can miss. I wouldn't replace even NQ heca with these.

Quote:
Cerberus Mantle +1; > ~Cavaros Mantle

Entirely dependent on "increases critical hit damage" not sucking. And after the Brave Grip sucking we can't know untill testing.

Quote:
Warwolf Belt; > ~Bobcat Belt

Bobcat belt is worth 12 dex for MS. Warwolf belt is worth 12.5 dex and doesn't have -6 Attack.

Quote:
Hecatomb Subligar +1; > ~Teutates Subligar

This isn't even a question. STR+8 -10 ACC is not better than DEX+8 Attack+20

Quote:
Hecatomb Leggings +1; > ~Clout Boots

Heca+1 is worth 14.5 DEX, Clout is worth 13.5 DEX It is slightly better than NQ heca. As in 13.5 DEX vs 12 DEX.

I can't wait for the work week to be over so I have time to sit down and digest this update. Thanks Shamaya for giving me a good place to start!

One item I noticed for mention in an absolute high ACC TP build is:
Lucky Coin

This is the only reason I still come to Allakhazam, e.g., the excellence of the few elite players that do the real research.

Shamaya - fantastic job, gives us all something to shoot for.

Might want to include Setanta's Ledelsens in your hybrid evasion sets because it has haste + evasion in the same piece.

If it's being given out as a mog bonanza prize chances are it's going to be upgradable via a magian trial at some point.

Glad you guys are finding the reference useful. If possible I suppose it'd always be nice to have a listing of "bests" as a good point of reference for gearsets, so this list could always be remade in the future.
I'm gonna change the list around surely based on mistakes or whatever math I or someone else does.

Some mistakes already ehh, quick draw. TBH my Cor is 72 but I've never used the ability lol. I don't even have AF. I just come to the party naked and roll if I'm asked to use it, since I just leveled it up in East Ronafure [S] and haven't really used it, lol. So, looking at wiki and assuming it's not nerfed as a sub, thf/cor quick draw should have no lack of magic accuracy from AGI. Given that, I totally forgot you could use elemental staves, so that'd be better than those daggers. But per DMG, I don't think the DMG values on the weapons affect quick draw if that's what you meant Barrister. On another note, it looks like this update added a lot of magic attack gear that we can use.
Definitely going to add Setanta's though. As for the lucky coin, everybody seems to be eyeballing it quite a bit but... I just look at it and think Fire Bomblet. Even for my high acc set, imo 6 attack > 2 accuracy. Mehh it can be a tossup but I'd rather adjust some other part of my build before making that adjustment. My high acc+ build is not like my max evasion build at least in terms of maxing. If everyone thinks lucky coin is great tho I can add it.

Lobi, about absolute virtue. I do think so, and the reason is here: Special Talk Session 1 is where they comment on AV & the level cap increase, I believe, and you can read it in subtitles. Fortunately I sold my Mars's Ring already, along with my speed belt xD. But yeah. Even if AV is still unkillable, you can still buy AV items; they're expensive but hey I bought one, and they're getting cheaper. As for the mercy stroke pieces, I definitely plan to do the math on that as I am a stroking addict. But I don't think measuring it in terms of the first hit and base damage alone is enough, and I also feel that attack > accuracy for mercy. I'm not sure about any of those pieces but I do think that Ire+1>Kubira for sa+ms at least, and of course definitely for ta+ms.

Also I'm pretty interested in seeing what the best Shark Bite and Mandalic Stab builds are, but I don't wanna write it (´Д`;)ヾ

Yes, we need this. I agree there should be a "best" list of sets for everything because at this point I think that is what a lot of long time players are striving for - complete maximization in every situation.

This is the formula for QD damage:

Damage formula: [2 * (Gun base DMG + bullet base DMG + Corsair's Tricorne bonus)] * (1 + (MAB / 100))] * (Elemental Staff bonus) * (Day/Weather Bonus)

Definitely affected by Gun Base Damage. In fact, Gun Base Damage and Bullet Base Damage (assuming everyone will have AF Head) are the two biggest factors affecting QD, since they get mutiplied by a whopping 2! (whereas MAB gets divided by 100, added to 1 and then multiplied, so it's always going to be 1.xx, where Max "xx" would likely never be more than 30 to 50). This is why most Cor main want Magnatus over any other Magian gun.

To be fair though I have not used corsair out of a ronafure [s] party or a meripo that I was too low level to do more than roll and co-pull w/ darts/utsuichi. But the weapon you pointed out was a mainhand/offhand weapon. I read that formula too, but it doesn't look like non-ranged weapons affect QD dmg through B.D. at least.

I knew it had high damage but I didn't see the delay until today. Holy @#%^ do want. Scrapped the Acc dakini Iw as working on (first trial w) and am 2/3 on the evil weapon nm lol, hopefully I can just afk and go to sleep for next pop and they wont kick me w

Edit: Also Sham I think you missed some Aurore stuff from your SA sets. Hat has dex/agi+4 haste+4, 1% more than skadi, but no +attack.

And the feet look to be either better or equal to setantas.

quick (and possibly stupid since I think I already know the answer) question: what do you guys really think about the nifty mantle? One just popped up on the ah on my sever and I was considering on grabbing it, but unsure if the 9 dex would outweigh the 3 STR/6 attack of foragers. Gut is telling me yes but wanted to get a bit of insight on it before I laid down the cash.

I think the Nifty mantle is the new best solo sneak attack piece in the game, however you erred with that bolded part. The nifty mantle has 5 dex and 9 attack, NOT 9 dex. Because of this I would think carefully about how much I was willing to pay for it, because I'd only use it in a sneak attack macro and nothing more. There are several items that fit this category which I'm watching but will not be buying until the price drops (and you can be sure that it will).

Berasil cap -- 8 agi + 8 R acc
Furgacity Beret -- 12 evasion, physical damage taken - 1%
Arctier's Torque -- 6 agility
Slither Gloves -- 9 attack, 9 evasion
Jupiter's/Auster's Rings -- 6 dex/agi
Nifty Mantle -- 5 dex, 9 attack
Tumbler's Trunks -- 5 dex, 18 attack
Missile Boots -- 3 agility , 8 ranged accuracy, -3 dex
Lithe Boots -- 6 Dex, 6 Agi

Each one of these items is an upgrade to my current equipment in a variety of my "lesser" builds. My solo trick attack, solo sneak attack, evasion, and ranged accuracy sets would become a bit stronger with various pieces listed. However the increase over my current items is marginal so I'm not willing to pay too much because these all have niche uses and will be going down in price given time. There is a person in my social shell who paid 1 million gil for the Pearle Hauberk about a week after Abyssea was released despite me (and others) having told him it was NOT worth that much. Sure enough three days later he was throwing a sh*t fit when the price crashed down to 300k. There are times when a little bit of patience goes a long way, and my level of gil/equipment comes not only from farming and crafting but also making what I consider the best economic decisions to obtain my gear. If you think you can get a good deal on your nifty mantle it would be a better sneak attack piece than alternatives. Just use discretion, as none of the non rare/ex abyssean items come from the higher tier NMs so they're relatively easier to get in contrast to the REALLY GOOD stuff s-e added last update. Given that we have 4 more updates and 19 more levels to go to hit the final cap I'm trying to be spend thrifty with my auction house bought upgrades while still upgrading nevertheless.

*Maybe* SA ManStab on that nifty mantle as well.

Forager's - 75% chance for +1 dmg, then 24 attack after the multiplier

Vs.

Nifty Mantle - 6 damage (5 from SA DEX, 30% DEX on Man Stab itself) and 14 attack? So arguably 10 att vs 5 straight damage. If it comes out ahead though it won't be by much at all and it's +1 inventory. :\

If SE ever makes r/e equipment not count towards your inventory total, I would definitely tote it for that as well as praise their name about it.

Gah, that's what I get from posting something just after getting off of work lol. I knew the stats, I looked at them before posting...and yet somehow I got 9 DEX in my head and ran with it.

In that case, I'll probably pass on buying one. My current shell does quite a few abyssea NMs as it is so if I come across one I'll grab it just for solo SA macro.

Something of note with all these AHable (all?) drops from the new zones... they drop like candy. None of this camping a 1-72 hour true lottery pop with a 0.00000000001% drop rate on a level 7 item. This **** drops. A lot. I fully expect 90% of this crap to be NPCed in the future, the drop rates are that high.

Exactly why I said I wouldn't pay much for it >.>. I just got out of a pickup la thiene abyssea run and we saw about 20 nm triggers drop and got 7 charisma belts. This isn't rare stuff at all, so there's no way I'll be paying 1 mil for any of it. It'll all be going the way of the cruor gear very soon (IE: cheap).

I have been a bit impatient myself. So far I've bought: Sharpeye Mantle for 300k, Arctier's Torque for 600k, Aurore Brais for 180k, Nifty Mantle for 500k, 2 Chukwa's eggs for 250k each and then 2 more for 200k each, and lastly a very unwise purchase of Auster's Ring for 1.8m.

Don't really know what I was thinking on the ring. I know it will go down in price. Currently the stones for these rings are a bit rare though. But I think the agi ring will be quite cheap in comparison to the str one (the gem of which is also used to make the HQ earring) just based on the supply/demand.
But yeah, if anyone is upgrading OAT Parazonium, it looks like Chukwa is a highly desired NM for reasons that have nothing to do with the eggs. So I can see those selling fairly cheap in the future.

I'd definitely wait on the other items too. Tumbler trunks should be tasty. Even for me, I can use them for solo sneak attack. And I'm thinking they'll beat my Desultor Tassets for solo trick attack too, but I don't know yet. So I might have to turn my Shantotto Pants into something else... maybe evasion and -dmg or +enmity.
The thew bomblets are definitely going to crash. Abyssea "EXP Alliances" are getting more popular and we're slowly understanding how they work. Mandies in Tahrongi are a popular mob and I hear the pop item drops like crazy.

As Melphina said, patience is key to fortune ;X. So is sacrifice, I think; selling big items b4 key updates, and the like.

My first linkshell run was a 60 minute Abyssea-Konstant Shadow Lizard farming run. We grabbed a good 12-15 people and wrecked lizzards tp burn style. We had 3-4 mobs going simultaneously with some mage support for buffs, cures, and crowd control. My social linkshell has a lot of the NA Fenrir ballista locals in it and some of them have some wicked gear and skills. There are some high end DD which are played very well here and our rampage brought our chain to that of our bodies emitting a "gold aura" and 220 exp per kill alliance wide before we got booted. With 3-4 mobs dying per minute at 200-220 exp each our later kills were averaging upwards of 40k exp/hr, it was growing the chain to that point which ate into the overall exp. But I can confirm abyssea can be some SERIOUS exp and it does so for everyone in the alliance.

We aggroed a glowing mob at the end and just slept it until we were about to get kicked out. I believe my shell said killing glowy mobs will break the chain. Furthermore, we didn't pop any nms that run. I also seem to recall my shell saying exp per kill can cap in the range of 300 or 350 a kill?? If that would be the case we could have continued growing the chain if we had done a 90 minute run. We'll be doing this again in the future, that's for sure!!!

I try to be patient with purchases every big update, and I try to foresee future economic changes. I was given some ridicule from Noodles in the accomplishment thread when I said I sold my oily trousers a month and a half or so before I bought my N Legs but I sold them for 2.3 mil before they began to crash hard just after the ASA legs were released. I knew the desultor tassets augment of 7 attack/7 accuracy would cut into them. Sure enough today they're down to 800k and continue to plummet, so I conserved 1.5 mil by selling them when I did. It was a sacrifice I was willing to make for the gil. Making economic cost/benefit analysis's like these really helps you get the most "bang for your buck" as they say. I also have not bought any of the new items yet, but I will when the price is right. I upgrade hardcore when I can, but there are some instances where I'm frugal on my purchases. I always try to analyze my markets and it's a large reason I continue to thrive despite reduced playtime. I always do research to find out how an item is obtained first to get an idea of its rarity, and I will never buy new items the day of an update. People paying 1-1.5 million gil for cruor items (IE: pearle armor) the first day it went on auction is an example of impatience, and those who did ended up taking an unnecessary (and large) hit to their gil. Every auction transaction you make (buying and selling) adds up over time, and a difference of a mere 5k saved each day will result in 1.8 million gil saved per year (this is just a basic albeit effective economical example to get the point across). Upgrading is always good, but if you do it intelligently you can upgrade a lot more with the same gil/time resources if you're willing to do it slightly slower. The end results can really add up.

For those wanted to try /COR, don't forget that you have access to Kila dagger with MAB+8, which could boost your damage in the condition that elemental staffs are not under consideration.
