Since you've realised not to feed the trolls, I'll award you with some actual drops from this last week:

Homam Corazza get
Denali Legs get
N.Abj Hands get
Agrona's Leggings get

Denali is just town/idle gear now though. In fact so's homam. It's only used whre I would use Mirke when not /Nin.

pretty good week or so. I managed to get through my Acc Daikini trials with little resistance, and earned several merits in the process just from the exp gained :) (not to mention all the seals i got o.O)

couple weeks ago, I finally (after 4+ years of trying) I obtained my first piece of homam, the pants :D It's one of those incredible, long-term goals you never think you'll actually achieve for me. (ty WickedEntity!)

pretty good stuff overall^^

I, too, got pants as my first homam piece years ago.

My previous shell was capped on homam pants when my THF hit 75, and they were nearly going free-lot.

Hands refused to drop; i think we only had about 2 pairs of hands and over 23 pairs of cosciales.

Got outlotted, passed over (THF didn't always get priority on homam, depending on the shell) or just unlucky. Whenever it was "my turn", head dropped, or shells broke. Was a miserable road!

Skadi's Bazubands O! (WTF is a Bazuband!? most rediculous name for 'armor' ever :P)

I am now 14/15 on entire skadi set pieces. Damn that body 35! Years of salvage and its still the only piece i dont have and the one i want the (2nd) most (I like legs more). But still, my rng is very happy and im 1 step closer to full set!

Finished trial 20 and trial 30 on my Fire and Thunder Dakini's respectively this weekend. My Fire dakini actually has respectable damage now at 32 damage +2 str and +5 atk. Not looking forward to this last trial though, although blms in my LS say it is impossible to level on flans right now because of all the thieves out there.

On the trial for thunder dakini for the 150 arcana, not sure how I am going to do that one yet either.

I was finishing up my BRD merits and decided to update my Skillup/Merit listing on the jobs that I had old images for. I took a while on the dagger, but have it prepped for next patch.

Screenshot

I always take comments for the Hide merits (listed as a 0% population choice on the old census), but it was honestly the only skill I used to chain check in my /ja listing via CNTL-J. I don't regret it at all and love having an offensive/defensive ability on 4:10.

If they jack up our tier I and II to 10+, the additional choices might make our overall merit plan easier to accomplish.

I give wolf bonus points for the line: "IS THE SOUND OF A BLET"
But then I have to take those bonus points away for using Mercy Stoke in tp gear. Still looks pretty though.

This is an accomplishment which has taken me four years to complete. After all this time I finally own the full high quality hecatomb set. Today I was finally able to buy my neptunal abjuration legs from a shell in the aery. I've killed Nidhogg and Odin myself countless times, crafted many heca subligars -1, and spent more time and energy than I could begin to tell you about camping/crafting/waiting for this. The abjuration itself cost me 17 million gil but I have never felt more satisfied in my gaming life. I never thought this day would come. I've waited so long that I actually forgot where I had to go to uncurse it and zoned into the chateau instead of the cathedral at first.

With that said I made a short video of the uncursing process to remember this day forever and hosted it on youtube. I equip all 5 pieces for the set at the end of the vid. I like the look <3. And of course My full weaponskill stats with it on. No food, no buffs in that screenshot. That's my weaponskill set in its rawest form. I am EXTREMELY proud of this accomplishment. Despite terrible luck with the abjuration I never gave up. Today all my efforts have finally been made worthwhile.

Wow!!! Very big congratulations Melphina!!!

Also, you might want to look at your set a bit, I think you can lose 4 DEX and still maintain the same WSC for both Evisceration and Mandalic Stab due to the way the WSC calc is floored. If I remember correctly, the dead zone is from 137-143 DEX.

Edit: Yeah, that is it, 136 DEX is WSC 33, 137-143 DEX is 34, and 144 DEX is 35.

I'm using my X's/blau in that screenshot. I'm going to fiddle with the setup a little. Dancing edge wsc comes out to 63.9 so it too loses out. I have a a full exp buffer and 10 merits saved up so I can change my 2 str 3 dex around if I want (and there's also thunder dakini to consider as well). I'll see what I can do with it. Atm I wanna try and augment a few forager's mantles and see if I can get a point of dex or two. I've seen that aug several times but aside from that it's up in the air. The version update is due later this month so I don't need to make any real decisions yet... I can wait a few weeks to see what happens. And before somebody brings up the version update and possible upgrades forthcoming which might make the N legs obsolete... don't. I set a personal goal to complete this armor set when I dinged to level 75 in summer of 2005, naive as I was to end game at the time. Completing this piece has taken more effort and caused me more grief than the other 4 pieces did combined. Completing the full skadi's cuirie leather armor set was far easier for me than getting that hell borne piece of paper. I've had this goal in my mind for over four years and refused to give up on it so I just wanted it that badly. I don't care about the gil I paid or the setback it means to finishing my Mandau. This goal meant so much to me that I was finishing my subligar no matter what the cost and that was that. Nothing can ever take this day from me. I'm literally walking on the stars.

The great thing about Strigoi Ring is, if you have Rdm/Nin, you can solo all the triggers. And if you get another Rdm/Nin and a couple friends that have Smn or Rng, Lord Ruthven is a joke. Ire Torque +1 gettin pretty cheap too, just yet to transfer it from the server I bought it on.

Well I have another accomplishment, although nothing like heca subligar +1 (then again not much is). Today I finally got my Llwyd's Charm for my trick attack set. With my af +1 hands this brings my total TA agility bonus to (76 + 47) x 1.15 == 141. Mind Hoarder isn't camped much and is a really easy solo but he wouldn't drop the charm for me until now. I think I killed him about 10-15 times but I lost track of the exact number. At any rate I like my new neck item. It's a pretty nice alternative for those who don't have a hope torque.

Grats on HQ hecatomb Mel.

Shamaya I am disappointed no Zilant Ring yet? Only an easy to get Strigoi Ring. That is no accomplishment........j/k. Grats on ring and Torque. What server you got the torque from?

For my own accomplishment I have this Odin parse from yesterday (19-6-2010) level 75.

1. Breaze 20636, 15.5.......thf/nin, Vajra/X's (+4 base damage)
2. Iwfym 17213, 13............sam/drg, Hagun
3. Visan 14782, 11.1.........war/sam, Perdu GA
4. Castonell 13130, 9.9......rng/sam, Fay Gendawa (+4str,+10 ratt, +5%ws dmg)
5. Brook 11321, 8.5...........sam/drg, Hagun
6. Mikeh 9292, 7...............pld/nin, Joyeuse
7. Nonakin 8969, 6.7..........rng/sam, E-bow
8. Chiefbootron 7735, 5.8....rng/sam, Cerberus bow+1
9. Anarki 6660, 5...............pld/nin, Joyeuse (d/c during fight)

No idea what happened in the rng party. Normally all rng parse a bit higher then that.

Looks like I got it on Ragnarok. That's a really impressive parse. I bet you'd do really good on Ixion too. I wonder what your way of fighting is on Odin? I've never really gotten to fight it :(

When you mention it, Strigoi in a sense isn't nearly so much of an accomplishment as it would be without using the now controversial pinning tactics. I did my Ruthven fights with 6-7. But afterwards when a friend wanted to do it using pinning as well, we killed it Rdm+Rng in just as much time and fewer blunders than full-party style. I don't know about you guys but for me Zilant is likely impossible w/out mercing or buying. Or I suppose waiting on the cap increase and then trying a friend/PuG.

I honestly hope they just keep coming out with new gear instead of adding things to TotM. At the moment I'm working on 5 daggers and 2 guns which is making me spend more time on trials than I am actually using the weapons. Throwing in diff trials for each piece of gear and that pretty much becomes the entire game, even if it were just for things like homam or skadi.

Sure if you only have a couple of things to upgrade as it is it wouldn't be so bad, but for me and most of the people I know already have their plates full with trials.

Almost exactly 1 week ago I began my journey to Twashtar (Trial#1). I must say considering the full time job i started last week i am EXCEPTIONALLY proud of my rapid progress. I just finished Feurenke(sp) path so the dagger is actually not sucky anymore xD (D38/ Delay201) P.Harpe+1 go!

Very happy with this progress this week. 1 more trial before i hit the big fat wall (probably permanently :P) for the last stage for twashtar!

Also capped dagger today for level 80!

(on a VNM related note, i am also now 8/10 of the Blob trophies for my OAT lance ive been on since the week of release xD)

Suprisingly productive week also coinciding with my 1st week of "real" job since graduation! Very pleased with myself in general ^_^

I love my sirocco and i feel slow as molasses, but I believe considering that Pharpe was in the same ballpark (though ultimately lost to B/S) -9 delay and +2 damage ought to seal the deal. That and a combo of its NEW and I feel more accomplished since i 'created' the dagger myself. (The Epeen bonus for SA/TA/WS with D39 is nice too ^^b) I just have to get used to the slowness of it.

Now I am ONE step away from Twashtar! (Well.....50x steps away..../cry!)

But I guess to counter the slowness, i have finished my OAT Magian lance for drg, so it just got a speed increase. So net gain for my char overall speedyness is probably the same :P

- Homam Manopolas 5/5 Homam set(big thanks ChaosReigns)
- Kila +6STR +16att
- Parazonium Occ. atk. 2-3 times

love the kila, using it mainhand instead of the 39dmg Kartika. loose one base dmg, but gain the str/att and 11delay.
the parazonium i did mostly for /dnc ~ solo stuffs and plain 'ol fun (that's gotta count for something).

I know it's "Your Thief's Latest and Greatest", but I figure I'm enough of a veteran to get away with straying. :P If not, then oh well. Burn me at the stake later.

As some of you may have noticed, I haven't been around very much in the last six months or so. In fact, some of you may even have noticed I've been on-again/off-again with FFXI in general for over two years now. That being said, I still hold an academic interest in the game, so I browse Alla occasionally. Specifically, this forum as it was once a damn good home to me.

Reasons of retiring aside, I do have quite the laundry list of real life accomplishments this ex-thief has managed. I graduated college with a BS in Engineering over a year ago, I was hired into my first career-level job two months ago, I have my own place and my girlfriend of more than 5 years is now living with me, and that's just the tip of the proverbial ice-berg. Even if I wanted to come back now, I'm far too busy with the 'other side' to manage it.

I was in the mood to mostly say "Hi THF Forums, I'm alive and this is what I've been up to". This seemed the thread for doing such. I'll be around every now and again, as I do like to browse. :) Glad to see a few regulars still around.

And as it hits pretty close to what I've been up to, a big congratulations to you, Aanalaty, on your first real job. :) It's an amazing feeling, I know. Now I see why Mel was so pumped a few years back when she managed to land hers.

I have had a really good week. I have gotten to 80 finally, which is a great achievement for me. I have finished both the Qutrub trial on my thunder dakini and the Flan trial on my flame dakini. I have purchased a cuchulain's belt for SA and WS. I also was able to get a yovra organ after about 3 years of needing one. Instead of getting breeze gorget, I went for a flame gorget for Mandalic Stab and Drakesbane.

Tomorrow I go back to work and stuff, so this stuff should slow down a bit.

tangent ramble go!:

Welcome back Chanchan! It is always interesting to see how our perspectives on things change over the years with life revolving around the game to the other way around. Particularly interesting as most of us have actually been playing this game long enough for our lives to significantly change. I know I am not the only one who started in college but is now out in the 'real world' trying to find space for Vanadiel to coexist. It is strange to have a piece of entertainment live longer in my life than significant actual time periods like college, high school, single to married life or whatever the case is for various people around here.

Looking back its strange how much has changed. I started this game the summer before my sophomore year in college back in summer '04. I had never played a real MMO, but I was(am) a huge blizzard fan (Picking up Starcraft 2 after work today OMGOMGOMGOMG!) and was patiently waiting for WoW to come out. My buddy (long since quit) was playing FFXI and got me started in it (He saved me! I have never touched WoW, but i still love blizzard RTS games). Id go to his house for days that summer and we played together (because my house was still on dial up LOLZ!) staying up to all ours and taking silly summer school college classes. It was awesome. Went back to school in teh fall and continued playing (way to much) for the next 3 years until I graduated with my bachelors. I continued to play all through grad school (FAAR to much, i should have graduated in spring 09......then summer 09.....finally made it fall 09 (This game probably had something to do with it xD). Now im in my own office (no windows though :P) in slacks and a button up shirt pretending like im a professional, but I still go home to play the same game I was playing over 6 years ago with my best bud since middle school. So much has changed, it is odd to think that FFXI has been one of the parts of my life that hasnt. Odd that a game has been a constant longer than almost any phase of my life and bridged multiple phases.

Certain zones or game music bring me back to a different time in my life. Everytime I hear yuhtunga/yhoater music I am brought back to sitting on my bed in my dorm room as a sophomore eating goldfish because i spent weeks leveling jobs through the 20s/30s back to back there. When I hear Ronfuare music I am back to my friends room where we spent weeks that summer as newbs trying to 'dodge' sheep attacks because we thought if we ran around it the moment it attacked, we would evade it. So much experience of my adult life have ties to FFXI. The game has changed drastically, the things I do in game/goals/way i play the game has changed. Funny to think i used to 'dodge' sheep attacks or 'run at the gob to make it drop the bomb!' and even used to be anti haste gear. Now im working out if its better do 0.5% more damage or have 1.2% more TP gain. I guess the way I play the game has matured just as I have. It is just strange taht I have done it so long that i actually HAVE changed.
