Any tips for the best spot for Spiders under light/fire/wind/thunder conditions. Thinking maybe kuftal has weather most often, or maybe boyahda.

There's no best spot. Your best bet is to constantly check the weather NPC's and try to find the best place at the moment.

What we did was having a mule in Jeuno to check Zi'tah, one in Rabao to check Kuftal; and just ask random lsmates in whitegate to check Bhaf/Wajoam for us.

If all 4 show sunny x3, it's better to just go do something else for 2-3 hours.

Also, make sure you have a way of quickly killing them. Weather can last as short as 5 minutes for a whole day. Doing it solo could take upwards of a week like that.

Is there even anywhere with light weather and spiders? All three of the others come up (assuming that you don't get hit with the "not the right subspecies" thing going after spiders in, say, Wajaom or Bhaflau), but I don't think that one does.

I understand why (light based elements) but the spiders/weather is not much fun. Kuftal seems more reliable than Boyada as Boyada spams water weather.

A good spot for the treants by the way are the 4 easily accessible ones in Caerdarva Mire to the west of Nashmau. EP and Mire has Thunder/Water/Dark weather a lot.

I wrote down a list of the "best" places to farm these mobs, however did not take into consideration level sync.

As for Treants/Saplings you can farm in Caedarva Mire, Dark, Lightning and Water Weather. In Woodlands or Thuckets, only Wind Weather is available, and not that frequently.

You can also find a Sync, level 15-~20 is suffucuent and kill saplings in the Canyon, These die a lot faster then the higher ones, and there is wind and earth weather there fairly frequently.

As far as spiders, we need Lightning, Wind, Fire or Light weather. So far as i am aware there are no sliders that roam in an Area with Light weather (barring Nyzul) so the Options are as follows:
Boyhada Tree when Lightning Weather is out, but as said, Water is the more common element there.

Thickets or Woodlands with Wind weather, the only weather available there, however, this is also not too common.

Kuftal Tunnel has both Fire and Wind weather, which is possibly the best bet.

The final Place is Quicksand caves, but Earth weather is Very common there, as opposed to fire, however its a possibility.

As far as the next step, its limited to Light weather or day, so picking the day is the best bet here. I plan to ride that and the following step (arcana) out in RoMaeve, while doing FoV for some Quite good exp. Wether its Lightsday or not, 1300 exp /page + normal killing will not be bad exp.

The final stap is 150 Beast type mobs, killed with Banish/Holy. For this im poanning on going to U Range. There are a variety of Beast type mobs here, all yielding exp, and not too hard to fight.

Thats what my path looks like, the treants and spiders will be the hardest part, as they are weather mobs. The Lightday ones, will take a while, but at least you can be certain of when a Lightsday is, so i think it will be easier.

Good Luck :D

Treants are best done in Grauberg [S]. There are plenty there and frequent weather. Just watch out for chigoes.

Spiders, I don't know. On them right now for my wife's WHM and it is sucking.

You need to keep in mind that Vanadiel actually has seasons, and weather depends greatly on those.
The first 3 months of a Vanadiel year are winter, and the next 3 spring, then summer, then autumn and so on.

Right now we're exiting winter and entering spring, so rain should be more common in the tree. When I did it however (during winter); it didn't rain a single time. But while thunder was predominant in the tree, kuftal rarely had weather up; same for bhaflau. This is why it's important to know what seasons you're on and pay close attention to the weather NPC's.

As for the trees; I really really recommend going to Grauberg instead. Weather very common there, to the point some quest require it (SCH AF). Also, the trees are abundant and there is also plenty of people killing them right now. Can easily finish it under 2 hours if you party up with the others.

As for that, I actually just finished 828 in grauberg. Went there to 1-shot chigoes on my SCH (They can't insta-die from abi/ws/crit or it doesn't count!) and ended up partying with the people doing the crook. Only took me two lightsdays this way.

Thanks Jax and Drak! Per your suggestions, I just moved from the Mire after waiting 2 hours for weather. I got to Grauberg, and it's been weather here for almost 2 hours straight, with the exception of a few min here and there.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. When i first went to kuftal (as brd/bst), I stumbled onto a Jpn Manaburn group with 5 blms and knocked down about 40 spiders in 2 rounds of Wind over an hour period. Then sadly they left since they completed there 100. Since then i've only finished about 12-15 more.

Wind seems to come about once an hour for maybe 10-20 min at a time.....Sooooooo Frustrating.

I did my treants (saplings) in the crag areas--all three have saplings, and weather is fairly common. Just bring your sync and port around.

For spiders, I did Bhaflau in a party. You can check the chance of weather in Whitegate, and the exit is right next to the boat to Nashmau. The weather in Whitegate is also the same, so you don't even have to leave town to check the current weather. There's a dagger, katana, and sword trial that all use spiders / vermin, so it shouldn't be too hard to get a party going. Monk also needs vermin for spharai upgrade.

Light day/weather (100, any mob), you can try Nyzul assault (always light weather), though that's inconsistent on how many kills you'll get. I'd recommend getting a level sync and hitting a crag area or outside a starter city on lightsday. The low level mobs are so much faster than high level mobs. (I was helping a linkshell mate with his hippogryphs on lightsday, so I have 47 left here).

Light day/weather (100, arcana), I'd agree with Ro'maeve unless you can get some blm burning at despot going (5 or 6 can take out an entire side in a round of -ga nukes). Lightsday is the way to go, as the weather is just too inconsistent. Nyzul is again inconsistent, though there can be arcana there.

For the last trial...just stick through it, you'll get there eventually. I don't think a synced banish / banishga will be enough damage, and it'd be hard on the mp. I guess I should check it out while at the crag for my 828, as that would speed it up if I can stick with lowbie mobs.

These are all about patience, except for 828, which should be the fastest by far.

After finishing the 100 arcana, I now recommend doing both lightsday ones in Ro'Maeve.

There's just so much people there and an abundance of mobs (And people doing trails) that you can party up and finish each in less than two lightsdays. I almost finished 100 arcana in a single day (100->19); so that's pretty **** decent. Had 12 people allianced at some point.

Also, I'm now glad I actually bother to skillup staff. Spirit taker was useful for roaming around smacking stuff with the staff. Mostly, just to get my people cured/hasted to rack in more kills.

Its just one of the multitude of options from the new Trial of the Magians questline.

Also, one final note on the **** of spiders, since I finally finished it. If you can't put together some sort of manaburn pt to kill 20 or so at once in Kuftal (I got really lucky stumbling into one a few days ago), then just stick around WG and do your killing in Wajaom or Bhafta..... Spiders o'plenty, lots of people to help, and lots of wind.

The staff is Cure Potency +15% and obtainable from the newly introduced Trial of the Magians quest. You have to undertake a series of trials, which is what these are all talking about.

Basically you get a free base weapon, complete a series of trials - each one upgrades your staff in a different way and once complete, you get Cure potency +15% . Staff is called a Teiwaz.

I would like to note, in case others didn't think of this, this is also not so much a Whm issue, as the only beneficial staff for us is the Cure Potancy one, However to the point; All of the Elemental final Staves are called Tiewaz, so to the Smns who wanted one for each element, you'll be Manually switching those.

I believe there is no Distinction in which is witch with Marcos.

Just a heads up in case anyone wanted to get a diff element one for any particular reason.

I had a good experience in Lufaise Meadows. There is a section in the north that has Treants and Saplings. They are mostly in the 50's so I had to bring my brother along and we synced to his level 60 Paladin.

Weather is pretty consistent for the most part.. Going between Wind, Lightning, and Dark weather conditions.

I initially came as White Mage, but after a few rounds I changed to Black Mage which I also have at level 75. I would needle away the HP of some of the mobs while the area was not affected by a weather status till they had a sliver of HP left. Then I would sleep them, and once the weather returned I would just do an -aga spell to finish them off.. At one point I got four points at once..

That was my experience on the first trial. I have yet to start killin' spiders.. I will probably try Kuftal Tunnel.

Good luck to everyone!

Well I'm up to the arcana trial now. Not been pushing super hard for this, much as I want it. Looking forward to getting this trial done fairly fast though as Ro'Maeve is never empty and I can pick up some much needed tags from FoV.

Has anyone done/started the light damage trial yet? The one where the killing blow has to be light damage of at least 50? If so, do you know whether Carby's meteor works? I have SMN at my disposal so it might help. Otherwise I'm assuming it's Banish all the way?

According to Enilanerda over on the Summoner forums, pet kills count as long as it's your pet.

I finished my Teiwaz yesterday morning, and I'll share my experiences with everyone, hopefully it helps someone a little bit. I'll preemptively note that I have access to a friend's account and used it for nearly all of my trials, take that into account.

Trial 790: After wasting a lot of time in Wajaom, I decided to abuse Level Sync for this one, along with my friend's level 12 Scholar. Ported us to Tahrongi and went down to the Southern portion of the map, I was able to knock out 10-15 Saplings each round of weather and observed weather 3-4 times per hour. Easily completed in two hours of activity there.

Trial 791: Again, wasted a substantial amount of time in Kuftal Tunnel, while reassuring to find out that many of you made this same mistake, I was still frustrated at the loss of time, when, after traveling to Bhaflau Thickets. I managed to complete this trial in less than three hours total, dual-boxing his Samurai with my White Mage, the time was split apart by Salvage.

Trial 828: Very easy, killed Lesser Colibri in Wajaom Woodlands, again using his Samurai. Took two Lightsdays and about ten minutes of a third. Killed Fomor as they popped, Fomor's Bats yielding a very quick kill.

Trial 829: Ro'Maeve, everybody else has summarized why this works so well, a different friend brought his Samurai out, we killed ~70 the first hour, then went to Dynamis, came back out at the next Lightsday and joined up with a Japanese alliance that was formed, knocked out my 30 in about 15 minutes and hung around for another 15 minutes to help the Japanese.

Trial 834: Someone previously planned on going to Uleguerand Range, if you haven't done this yet, and to everyone else who plans on completing this version of the Teiwaz, this is the -right choice-. Tigers, Rabbits, Banish II, victory. Took us a little less than 3 hours to polish this off with a splash of Limbus to break it up.

Trial 838: Absurdly easy compared to the rest of this tedious crap, and kind of fun, in a relieving kind of way. Set my HP in Windurst Waters [S] /blm and Recall-Meriph. My Samurai buddy killed the Yagudo High Priests with a little help from Haste and Dia II. The ones inside Castle Oztroja [S] are substantially higher level, and I only fought them on Scholar, definitely not worth going inside, unless you are a skilled soloer, way too much threat of linking and aggro. Stay outside and blast the one that stands just North of the entrance to their stronghold, by the time you get back from trading the one you get off of it, it will have long since repopped. Appears to be 100% drop rate.

Congratulations to everyone who has already completed their Teiwaz, I hope this helps those that still have yet to complete theirs.

Enjoy your Cure Potency +15% and the present-day Pixies until people kill them off!

Also, big thanks to Rodie on Ragnarok for all the help he lent me these last couple days, I'm indebted to him for a while I think!

FYI, the pixie off the yagudo high priest is NOT 100% drop, but it's close enough to not matter much. When I went on my holy pixie revival crusade to try and bring them into the present on Phoenix server, I killed about two dozen of the birds and all but two of them dropped a bottled pixie.

Thanks for the confirmation about Carby and light damage! I've just completed the arcana stage and am on the 150 beasts. The info about Ulegerand range is handy too, I had wondered about that zone and glad to see it's not just me. Hopefully now it won't be too much longer and I can put out some even sillier cures. Nice that this is usable on so many of my jobs too!

For anyone who plans on doing 834 on Ulegerand Range; I highly recommend bringing one of the IS -bane chakrams. Saves a lot of time and trouble for pulling mobs near Magic Aggro range.

I have used the advice in this thread on finding spiders for the second branch trial, but there is just a lack of weather in Waja or Bhaf. Lately I've been /telling random people in Kuftal too to ask if weather up, but they say no. I am getting SO frustrated over this trial, any other tips? :(

The way to check is to use the weather checker NPCs. There is one in Whitegate for the areas around. If it says the weather will be windy (rather than 'with a chance of') for today, tomorrow or the next day then head to those areas. If it just says there is a chance of, then don't bother and do something else. Also the weather varies a fair bit by season.

The Whitegate weather checker is on the top level south of the signet guy. The weather checker for the Boyada tree is in Mhaura and the one for Kuftal is in Rabao. You can check the current game day, the following day and the one after that. Don't bother heading outside unless it says its going to be mainly windy or gales or you will be standing around for ages. A chance of wind isn't enough to merit standing there for an hour but of course if its windy whilst you're in whitegate, nip out and kill a few.

Almost everybody has suggested going to The Boyahda Tree for spiders. Do that.
