I have whm as my main, and it is crazy trying to pull together all the information on all of the job choices.

Which Jobs in FFXI can effectively use /WHM

RDM/WHM, especially pre /SCH.

SCH/WHM, particularly at lower levels, but once you're >40, /RDM really starts to shine.

BLU/WHM focusing on healing.

BLM/WHM when leveling before advanced jobs or when you're in a party. Not necessarily optimal, but not horrible either.

SMN/WHM, again before /SCH.

MNK/WHM, Chi blast spamming

Other uses for /WHM:

Teleporting yourself on a job when you're just traveling around. Usually, BLM/WHM for this.

Leveling NPC Fellow and you're not worried about the mobs you're fighting.

WAR/WHM for when you REALLY want to play PLD without unlocking the job (BUTTERSHEEP!!!)

Any time -na's and erase override any other benefit from subjob.

Also BRD/WHM and occasionally COR/WHM for some endgame events.

I always felt that WHM was one sub everyone should really have, kinda like /NIN. Love it or hate it, there _will_ be times when you really wish you had it.

DRG

This is a specialized case though; if you won't need -na spells, Raise/RR, or teleports you're probably better off using a sub with cheaper HB triggers.

Please don't advertise this.

(es, it's a decent sub but totally embarrassing)

I'm as big an anti-COR/WHM advocate as there is when exp/merits are concerned. But Filian is completely correct that it can be quite useful in some endgame situations. It is good to clarify that though, as the COR/WHM "BRD/WHM wannabe" in an exp party does indeed make me sad.

(Also, do any MNKs really /WHM and Chi Blast for anything? Especially in 2010? Seems like an extremely esoteric use.)

I had a friend go MNK for Tanihwa from MMM's. After 5 minutes of hitting for 1's and 0's; he just disengaged and started boosting. For some reason, he always carries his Chi Blast gear; and ended up doing pretty decent damage with that.

He went /WHM for the next run >_>

I usually go either /BLU(load up on MND+ spells) or /NIN(Shadows). I've never really looked into it, but if you're kite-blasting, /WHM might be good if it gives decent MND.

Earlier on, you can go as Blu/Whm for more effective cures. Since Blu Healing spells are Greatly effected by Healing skill.

Also, any Job that wants Reraise can use /Whm or /Sch, but /Whm is better for survival then /Sch is, as far as defenses (blink, Aquaveil, Stoneskin) I know Rdm is better with Phalanx, but Rdm does not have RR.
