Something in this sentence does not add up. I take it the Canadian bacon is something quite unlike rest-of-the-world bacon?

No, Canadian bacon isn't a thing that Canadians actually eat, at least not as bacon. Bacon is just bacon, see pictures below. That's always puzzled me.

anyway, homemade Bacon, cured from a pork belly and sliced into stripes, is amazing, cheap and super easy to make.

Yes and I'm expecting less than nothing of it. For one Chris Sawyer is definitely not involved despite claims by Atari that he is, Atari is broke as **** as they went bust and tried but failed to sell the RCT franchise last year (so they can't have been working on a game since before September-ish), the way they've claimed to continue forwards after their bankruptcy is with mobile and downloadable games and RTC4M shows that they're really just in for a quick money grab with a paid app and in game purchases for things like loopings in your rollercoaster.

Their bankruptcy and following mission statement also makes it obvious that Atari isn't a serious games developer anymore so they cannot possibly make a full, high quality PC game in a year. The announcement of a PC RCT4 in the wake/shadow of the RCT4M announcement just strengthens the belief that they're not even trying to do so.

I don't understand how buying the meat and slicing it into those strips is easier and/or cheaper than buying the strips. Especially if you also have to cure the meat first.

Maybe pork is just cheaper in Canadia, or bacon strips are more expensive.

I guess bacon isn't particularly cheap, per se, but you don't use it like you use other meats. When I'm only using 2 or 3 strips, I care a lot less about its price per poundage than when I'm using a chicken breast.

1)'s way cheaper, bacon is about $5 a lb here for the cheaper stuff, but it's easy to go up to $10 a lb if you want really nice thick cut bacon. Pork belly is generally under $2 a lb. Given that your bacon will be so much better than what you can buy in the store it's a good savings.

2) it's not easier than picking up a slab of bacon from the store, but I'm not saying that, I'm saying it's super easy
- buy pork belly
- put pork belly in ziplock bag with salt and flavourings
- leave for a week in the fridge flipping occasionally
- fry and enjoy.

Super easy, very high quality for way less. Curing stuff is very simple.

Well, ROS is fun so far, although I've played very little and haven't actually tried a crusader yet.

I think I'll get my DH to 70 first.

The Crusader is a lot of fun. Reignited my desire to play D3, so that's great.

By the way, is there any way to turn the difficulty down once you've turned it up? Because woah.

yeah, just press escape and hit lower difficulty on the right hand side.

I've been playing T1, but it's getting a bit rough. I did just replace my 60 legendary bow though, so we'll see.

So I started a Siren in Borderlands 2 for a change of pace. Turns out I've gotten a lot better at the game, I was struggling through the first bit before Sanctuary on Zero and I'm blowing through it with ease the second time around.

get this book.

http://www.amazon.com/Charcuterie-Salting-Smoking-Revised-Updated-ebook/dp/B00CF2MBB2/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1395839637&sr=1-1&keywords=charcuterie

The only "hard" thing about making bacon is finding pink salt/curing salt, but as with everything these days, you can just order it if no shops near you carry it.

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=pink+salt&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Apink+salt

It's mostly table salt, with a teaspoon of the pink salt above, and then other spices. I usually put a bunch of new york steak spice, some liquid smoke (unless I plan on actually smoking it) and some maple syrup.

After that it really is as simple as what I outlined above.

The pink salt prevents botulism. It's called pink salt because the nitrates keep the meat pink (see ham/bacon/etc)

Question: If you take a two year old running as fast as she can in one direction, and add in a 5 year old going as fast as she can in the opposite direction, what kind of force is exerted when their heads bonk into each other? Smiley: rolleyes

Well, either way it got me an extra day off of work I guess. Everyone seems to be fine other than a couple of nasty bumps on the head, though you can never really tell with a 2 year old.

On the plus side I finally discovered Rift, and I think it's interesting enough to keep me from wanting to come back to WoW, at least for the time being. I like the variety in character builds they let you have, and the rifts haven't gotten old yet. Though I can see that coming. I logged in early in the morning the other day, only to find my new zone completely completely overrun with undead thingies. First time I had ever been there, I went through the portal, and was like umm... wtf, this doesn't look right. I was level 18 with 20-30 level 20 mobs standing a few feet from me. It took a few seconds for it to sink in that, hey, they took over the camp, and unless I clear them out, I'm not doing any questing today. Smiley: lol

Anyway, I got them cleared after a bit, but got run over a couple of times by rampaging packs elsewhere in the zone. When there's no one (or at least not enough people) online at odd hours those things seem to take over quickly. I'll be ready for them next time though. Smiley: sly

This.

While it sounds straight forward enough, that's one less thing taking up space in the fridge for a week.
