Many companies aren't even bothering to separate sick and vacation anymore. You get one bucket of PTO. If you're sick a lot, you don't get vacation, and if you vacation a lot, you can't be sick. Since that is perfectly legal, I'd guess Dig's situation is also. Sucks Dig. Smiley: frown

I'm way ahead of you. I shouted GET OFF MY LAWN! for the first time a couple of years ago already. At least it was WoW related, so I'm an old lady, but I'm hip, I'm with it.

Maz is teaching?

You mean aside from banning car manufacturers to sell directly to customers? Cause Tesla was just banned from selling cars in New Jersey because they don't have dealers.

I don't actually mind PTO. Well assuming they don't cut the numbers of hours you get in the process. I'd rather have 200 hours of PTO than 150 of vacation and 50 of sick time. Better flexibility and such, especially if I have to take time off because the little ones are sick or something.

I know, we were a little scared at first too, but it seems to be working out well for him.

I can't imagine kids these days being that motivated. I mean with all the hanging out on the lawn and hippidy hop music.

I don't find it scary at all. Good for you Maz! Please teach them not to stand in the bad. It's a life lesson as well as an MMO one.

Is that what the US army has you prepare for?

It was nearly eleven-thirty, and I had just put the cat out. But it hadn't been easy. He'd burned more fiercely than I had anticipated.

The poor thing had caught fire earlier in the evening when, in an effort to test his reflexes, I had thrown his favorite toy mouse into the fireplace, and instinctively he raced after it.

"WHOOOOOOOOM!" you might say.

At first, I let him burn awhile just to teach him a lesson, and to peel off a couple of layers of the mud, mange and matted hair which seemed lately, sadly, to have robbed him of a step or two. But I must admit I was also quite fascinated by the many spectacular colors he began to glow with. Colors, no doubt, owed in part to the countless hours he spent killing time in the toxic dump next door. It was quite a show. In fact, I saw several pyrotechnic effects I dare say have not been witnessed since the Grucci home exploded during the Bicentennial.

Then, as the feline conflagration began to burn itself out and I could see the clear, stark outline of his hairless body, he began to emit a dense cloud of smoke, along with some other gaseous substance which I can only describe as "cat steam." Acting quickly, I covered him in several cheap sweaters that no longer fit and pounded him gently, although not without anger, for just over an hour, or until the smoke died down and he stopped his by then bothersome screeching.

At that point, energized, apparently, by a sudden burst of pain and fear, he leapt several feet into the air, went stiff and spread-eagled and began to spin violently, giving off an ominous low-frequency hum and circling the ceiling fan in an elliptical orbit. He circled for the better part of an hour. Finally, exhausted, or, I thought, maybe dead, he went suddenly limp, his orbit decayed and he smashed into an eighteenth-century breakfront, landing heavily on the floor. For three days he lay motionless. When he finally awoke, I opened a can of Bits O' Kidney and fed him by hand.

I can tell you this: although he looked quite unusual, and he smelled god-awful, I was glad I could be there for him when he needed me.

O.K. digg, so I get it now. Still, seven days of vacation is a lot to lose. See below.

You guys need some proper laws regarding vacation and sick leave.

ERISA is the best we got. digg should browse it a bit. If I knew anything about it other than it pertains to benefits, I'd offer to help.

Don't even go there. I guarantee you I have to scroll way further than you for those age tests websites like Steam have nowadays (see, I'm old - I used "nowadays" in a sentence!). Maz's other favorite pastime is taunting me for being old.

Lovely, isn't it? It's why I usually watch Scrubs or something on my phone when I can't sleep, I've seen it often enough that at least my brain gets some rest.

I should have just given up and done something. Instead I stubbornly persisted in trying to sleep...

Now I'm really torn. On the one hand, my sister offered to let me come up there and work on my resume with her. On the other hand, I know I won't really get sleep there, and I really need some rest.

But then I start wondering if I'm actually going to get rest if I stay at home...

Oh, also, I came in half an hour earlier to get more time to work before my boss got in (she normally gets in at 9, me 8). But SURPRISE she was here.

I love dogs but they're a bit too much work for me, cats are much more independent and easy going.

Ugh, the panic attack bosses. A big reasons I switched jobs at one point. Mine was more of the type who would stop by for an hour in the morning, tell you why everything you did yesterday was wrong, yell and complain a lot, then disappear for the rest of the day.

We all spend an hour after he left decompressing before we could get anything done. Smiley: lol

Hang in there though, sounds like you have an awful nice mark on your resume, and things will look up from here. Smiley: smile

A lot of decompressing happens here. It's particularly weird for your supervisor and you to be decompressing together.

I should note that my boss is a super micromanager. So.

And yeah, I've been here over a year, so I can leave without it looking bad. And the internal reshuffling of duties that "coincided" with my shift from part time to full time reads as a promotion. Which it definitely was, in ways.

I mean, I basically leapfrogged the entry-level stage with my current job. Which is great... if my mental health wasn't deteriorating. It sucks even more because the work itself isn't too much for me.
