I mean, the blunt point of the matter is that marriage benefits directly create a situation in which gay couples are unconstitutionally discriminated with, and more and more Republican-controlled courts are coming to that conclusion. Because it's just a matter of logic.

Those judges may think that being gay is gross and wrong, but at the end of the day something's gotta give. You can either remove those benefits, and force a social argument for marriage (which is much less likely to get passed up the courts), or you can accept that it's a matter of nondiscrimination.

Obviously, I'm happier about cases where we have legislatures voluntarily enacting change. But I'll settle for court orders.

I care more about getting protection bills through in places like TN, where kids are killing themselves at an alarming rate. Oh, a national nondiscrimination bill making it illegal to, say, get fired for being gay would be nice, too. Most of our states still don't have one of those.

the Netherlands has won 93 medals combined in all Winter Olympics events - and speed skating accounted for 89 of those medals.

That's awesome.

Yeah, we don't have mountains or snow (winter months tend to be very dry) so that's basically all we've got. Dutch people also aren't the most graceful either so we're stuck with just 1 gold medal in figure skating.

And Yay I'm out of the house too, and desperately trying to catch up on work. Well not too desperately, but you know. Darn bus wasn't running past my house yesterday, and that put a kink in any commuting plans. Smiley: glare

The Dutch are killing it this Olympics, equalling Vancouver's medal count in 4 days.

So many rate-downs. Smiley: lol

I had the gall to make an argument that F2P wasn't fundamentally evil and bad in the FFXIV forum, and they're all foaming at the mouth because I won't drink the haterade.

The best part is that they all seem to be relying on a "<insert game> failed, and it was F2P, and F2P means B2W which sucks, and F2P doesn't deliver content, and you pay more, BLAH BLAH BLAH!" line of reasoning.

Sometimes I miss the days where I didn't have to worry about experience boosts and quick travel costs. But I'll never go back to paying for an MMO again. I like having the freedom to come and go as I please without having that monthly bill for a game I'm not playing.

Gratz Xsarus! Canadian Denny Morrison is the first non Dutch man to win a speed skating medal these Olympics (silver on the 1000m, gold and bronze Dutch again).

I mean, I have a sub for TOR. On the other hand, I'm almost at the point with the free cartel coins that I've unlocked pretty much everything I want. Medical Probe restrictions are annoying, but I don't expect I'd really have much more to care about.

What I feel is most likely is that the industry will start adding different levels of subs, so you can do the subscription thing (for more bang for the buck, if you're using everything in your package), or you can just do the a la carte thing.

Like, maybe they have a $10 raider's package (gives access to raiding, but no additional bonuses), $7.50 dungeon and battleground package, $5 dungeon, PVP, and leveling packages, or the F2P a la carte model. Or $15 for everything.

And each would have a cosmetics package attached to it.

The Germans probably aren't too happy with it since they came 4th and 5th. Fantastic race by Morrison though. And for Groothuis who was the favourite in 2010 but had to go home because he was sick.

I like the way the probes make me play single player stuff. That extra bit of danger is kind of fun, and it makes me think more about what I'm doing so I don't go getting myself killed. It's annoying as all heck for the group stuff though, as most people seem to be much less cautious than me. Or you get grouped with a sub who charges carelessly ahead, then complains when people run back because they don't want to waste a probe. Smiley: lol

I almost exclusively do story content when I'm playing, so the sub just makes my life easier. I REALLY should cancel, though, because I haven't been logging in and that's wasted money (at least $30 worth wasted, just in time since my last log in).

Plus, I have a stock of cartel coins...

What I really should do is take some time to pool some credits, make my new characters for the forseeable future, and buy the character unlocks I want with said credits. And then when the F2P switch happens, I'll just see if there are any outstanding unlocks to use my coins on.

The F2P is really pretty nice once you've gotten all those unlocks. Just be sure to grab those expensive ones that are almost certainly going to be more than the credit cap. Account wide stuff like the purple armor unlock, and species unlocks, etc. If you like space missions grab those, they're a bit more variable in price. Grab a couple of the mentioned medical probes, as those only appear very rarely on the GTN. Spend down your credits buying whatever is cheap on the GTN that week, so you can just print money later when you need to.

Remember you won't be able to transfer credits directly between characters after the transition.

I really should log back in at some point, I bet I have a good amount of CC built up myself from that security key. Smiley: lol

Watch Canadian or British streams instead, they're better than NBC's failure anyway.
