Also, for the money I spent on stuff for that one dinner I could have gone to a nearby 2 star restaurant and had a lovely dinner including wine and taxi there and back home again. The dinner I'm cooking is more fun though, at least for my immediate family because they get fancy food for free. Smiley: lol

I know that feeling, between Christmas dinner, Christmas/St nick presents, my sister's boyfriend's birthday and moving to a new place (with all the paint and stuff) my bank account is begging for mercy.

I did all my shopping this weekend, so everything was in my statement as a pending transaction. So I got to see the total sum.

Thank god I got paid on Friday, because that was rough. And I still have a huge bill for new brakes/tires to pay.

So, all-in-all, I won't be doing anything that costs money, at all, between now and when I get paid next on the 3rd.

You get paid often, it's monthly here. I got paid yesterday and most of the money is gone to rent, insurance and shopping already, only 30 days to go till the next paycheck. Smiley: glare

Twice a month. Monthly is just cruel... That's just way more budgeting than one person should be asked to do.

Why? Everything I have to pay aside from groceries is monthly as well. Phone, internet, insurance, rent etc. and all of those bills arrive a few days after I get paid.

You still need to budget out for all your non-essential purchases, plus food, for the whole month.

Emergencies that hit your account hard are much harder to deal with when you have to wait a lot longer to replenish your funds.

You also have more funds though, and it's not hard to know how much you can spend per week, it just takes a little more restraint.

Yeah, but your higher taxes also reduce the number (or at least scope of) other expenses.

Medical issues, for instance, are going to be a big hit for most Americans. My parents are insured, and they still have to pay $500 for an emergency room visit, even if no treatment is given.

My insurance costs me less than $10 a month (after government assistance) and I pay up to 300 euros a year in deductible now I think, because that went up again but it covers most basic things.

I have pretty awesome insurance, because I'm technically a state employee, and mine isn't even that nice. Smiley: lol

Morning even?

I had a couple beers but the family Christmas thing was better than expected, there was even some food that was pretty good. Now I'm listening to French hippies sing about whales.

It was really good! Took a bit longer to cook than it was supposed to, but it was amazing. Funny, the package said to cook a half pound for each person, we got a 6.5 lb roast for 4 people and barely had any left lol. It was bone in though, so that probably had something to do with it.
