this is about food, ham to be exact, as i am making one for thanksgiving. i dont want a sweet ham, so nothing with fruit...

i bought the ham today and 2 bottles of red wine. my plan is to use them to cook the ham. with clove, black pepper and honey as a glaze / sauce to roast the fucker in while i drink some of said wine.

then i plan on using the ham leavings, some more red wine and roux to make a gravy

any ideas to make this ham work better?

So WoW and MoP are on sale now. You can get WoW up through Cata for $4.99, so I sent myself a recruit a friend invite and bought a second account. I'm doing this partly for the free mount, and partly for the "free levels." I suppose in the end the levels aren't really that free since I could spend the time leveling the characters I actually want to level. I wish you could "give" levels to a character that was higher than the granter though, that'd be awesome. Okay, I did this mostly for the mount.

so i'm looking at somehow merging this and that to make my ham.

i have an idea in my head of how it going to work but have yet to flesh out the details.

Glaze it with beer. That's what I'm planning for the duck I'm cooking for Christmas, porter glazed duck breast.

Today is going to be a loooooong day.

Agreed to get a drink with a coworker after work, then I'm heading into the city to see a friend (by train), then I have the train ride back and my home commute, and THEN I'm getting drinks with another group of friends, sometime after 9.

/shudder

Though if the weather is as ****** as they're saying it'll be, I'll have to cut out the city trip. The roads will be icy as hell by the time I have to drive home, and my wheels definitely can't handle that.

Don't own a bike, and public transport isn't really a thing outside of cities in the US. Smiley: lol

Ironically, there IS a bus stop right near the bar we'll be going to. But it's also further from my house than the bar is, and there's no closer stop. Smiley: lol

Public transport is pretty miserable here as well when you get outside of cities although we probably have different criteria of miserable. And you guys don't really have the infrastructure to cycle home safely when drunk, I wouldn't dare share the road with cars if I'm drunk cycling.

And try the Rodenbach, it's a sour and pretty damn nice.

Why? That's about 400 beers on bottle or so, not that extraordinary. Certainly a lot but there's tons of really common stuff in there too and with the amount of taps they have this is about what I'd expect. Dogfish Head ******** Brew is really cool though and there's certainly no shortage of really good beer there.

If you want to try something unusual and cool, try Aecht Schenkerla Rauchbier Urbock, it's super smokey and like drinking a barbeque. I suggest splitting it with a friend though, 8oz will be plenty as it's not very easy to drink unless you're used to it. Still, it's a beer that uses only the base ingredients for beer but they managed to get a really meaty smoke flavour in there.

Edit: Also, lots of the stronger beers (especially Belgians) have a best before date of something like 5 or 10 years and people pay a premium for vintage ones so there's very little risk in stocking up a case of those beers.
