Poetry as a healing toolFollow

#1 Jul 19 2011 at 5:38 AM Rating: Good
Back in my dim distant days playing as a mage, I seem to recall I had an addon installed that would automatically say a rhyme in party chat when I cast a spell such as polymorph to inform other party members what I was doing and for a little bit of RP.

Having just come back to the game and doing quite a bit of healing, it seems to me that a humorous way of informing dps or the tank that they are making healing harder than it should be without resorting to “I am out of mana what part of that don't you understand?” would be a addon similar to that mage one.

For example, the tank is rushing forward like a lunatic and I have barely sipped that sweet, sweet nectar let alone got my mana to half way before he pulls another group:

I cast shield on him and in party chat automatically say: “Blessing's of Elune be on <tank name> as he is a loon who can not wait and rushes forward to his fate – which is to die horribly as the healer is OOM.”

Poetry is not my strong point but you get the idea and the DPS warning would be along the lines of:

I cast heal on an errant dpser stood like a statue blasting out fireballs whilst his health ticks away: “Blessings of the Holy Light on this mage, because if he doesn’t move out of the fire / green goop / area with nasty things in it right now he'll feel my rage – and die horribly 'cos I wont heal him.”

Any such addons out there?

p.s please don't take this post too seriously

You could make macros that you click on that do this, but I don't think any addon would be smart enough to know what someone else is doing well enough for these messages not to be spammed.

I have a macro that informs the tank that I am low on mana and that if he's daft enough to pull he'll probably die. I hit this after or near the end of a fight. If he intentionally runs forward and pulls I let him die along with anyone else who decided to ignore me.

to create the macro you'd type

/macro

in chat, window pops up, create new macro, pick an icon (preferably something that doesn't look like one of your skills, name it whatever, and then in the text

/party ATTENTION: I am low on mana! If you should pull you will most likely {skull} die {skull}!!

Then you pull the icon out onto your action bars and click it whenever necessary.

Thanks for the good advice,

I have set up a macro as you detailed and have used it once already. It was ignored, but at least I let the party know :)

Those would be epically funny. I want to group with you once you have those set up.
