So looks like a new glyph in 4.2 will let us cast lightning bolt while moving. Could be pretty sweet! I envision the Earthbind Totem becoming even more useful with the ability to walk backwards while casting.

Sounds good, spirit walkers grace is a nice idea, but often you're not moving for long enough periods to make the best use of it (at least in pve). That means fights with a lot of stop-start movement in them (e.g. Atremedes air phase) leaves shaman without a whole lot to do. If you could keep casting lightning bolt while running that means you can keep up more of a normal rotation.

Strafing would work too... I am not at the raiding point yet, so I have no experience with that. I find myself moving away from the mob rather than to the right or left.

Strafe is faster. You should strafe.

So you actually get farther away from the mob moving sideways than you will moving backwards because the movement backwards is that much slower? I will have to try that. Thanks!

Yup. Getting into the habit of using your mouse to turn, and rebinding your turn keys to the strafe ones, works wonders. Hell, even just using your mouse to turn, and changing your direction would be faster than backing up. It slows your movement by at least 50%.

New lightning glyph is a prime glyph.

As Rawr is inop for elem sham (how i mourn thee) anyone wanna suggest what glyph we should sacrifice for the new one?

I'm currently running with Flame Shock, Lava Burst, and Lightning Bolt (knowing Flametongue was/might still be competitive) and, even with/without tier set bonuses in mind ... off the cuff, which sounds like the best swap?

Or is the new glyph one of those fight specific/"swap as needed" glyphs?

More thoughts the merrier.

Edit: Even though glyph applies to LB only, the idea of Chain on the run ... *giggity*

Azaza I would take out the glyph of lightning bolt. If you can consistently move while casting the spell you will probably get more mileage out of it and therefore your damage will increase. That is just speculation, but I think that might work.

If you are able to cast more LB (because you can do so while moving) that will also improve the gain from the Glyph of LB, more damage on a spell that you can cast more often. I'm thinking Flame Shock would be a candidate for taking out, but it depends how much of a trade-off you get with having to miss and ES in favour of reapplying FS, which I guess will also be gear dependent.

At the moment I don't know how much increase each glyph provides and how much benefit you will get from the new glyph. It sounds awesome and there are a lot of fights involving movement (for a fight like Halfus or Atremedes with frequent periods of movement I think it will be a great boost) but for fights with minimal movement where you are only interrupting a small percentage of your casts it might not out value our current glyphs.

I'm going to wait and see what the number crunchers over at Elitist Jerks suggest :)
