The online version of the gear spreadsheet at femaledwarf.com shows that for my SV hunter, who's right on the cusp of raiding, mastery is 2/3 as valuable as crit, 1/3 as haste, and 1/4 as hit, which matches what idiggory was thinking.

Even between breakpoints, haste speeds up both autoshots and cobra shot, which is SV's regen ability - and with aspect switching and the 4.0.6 buff to autoshot, SV can use close to its normal rotation even on the move these days.

So my cat DPS toon who just hit 85 is stacking mastery, my SV hunter is gemming for agility and reforging to hit, and my healadin is matching socket bonuses. Keeps me thinking flexibly, at least.

Nice.

I really do wish they'd add some talents that lead to stat synergy though. I miss the days where you couldn't just aim for 1 or 2 stats and get max dps...

They wouldn't let a warrior(rogues as well) roll on their bow, so why roll against us for our weapons!

Stuff bolded for emphasis.

Pretty sure that rogues only want throwing weapons these days, although I must admit to not having played my rogue yet in Cata. Too busy getting my 2 druids, hunter, shammy, mage and priest to 85 :)

If they aren't going to FoK then non-thrown typically have better stats.

Hunters don't care about Mastery because it's not agility, hunters, especially SV, don't really care much about anything if it's not agility (or hit below hit cap).

And as idigorry said somewhere in this thread it buffs a lower % of our total damage than crit for the same amount of rating.
Mastery does beat out Haste when your cobra shots are 1.66 sec cast because beyond that all haste does is speed up auto shots until you reach 1.5 sec cobras.

Sounds like some epically boring gear farming.

Tia's Grace and what other trinket? I want to say the Quicksilver trinket, with its agility, socket and +crit, but I'm guessing there's another one?

There are a couple that have either agility as stat or a +xx agility buff that stacks and pretty much has a 100% uptime.

Unheeded Warning is down to about 7k last I looked on the AH which isn't bad if you have the $$. Other than that, Fluid Death from Valor points is about the best to pair with Tia's. It annoys me a bit that a blue trinket is so good :)

Hasn't that ALWAYS been the case with Hunters, though? I'm pretty sure I remember that a blue ilvl 200 trinket was their BiS for a lot of Wrath (which made GS a pain in the *** for them).

A blue necklkace was second BiS only to a Kael Thas necklace until sunwell during BC, for Survival anyway.
Then again, BM had the wolfslayer sniper rifle that dropped from the big bad wolf and beat everything until Archimonde/Illidan

With the changes to iLvl and all same iLvl items having the same Stam & Agi on them, in Cata it is pretty much only the trinkets that have this issue now. Even the worst epic item (hit/mastery) will be at least equal to the best blue item (mastery/haste or mastery/crit) due to the extra Agi on it.

Cata gearing makes me sad. It's just so... uninteresting.

Its mildly interesting on my priest. Feral is boring. DK is boring. Rogue is boring.

Only reason priest is interesting is do to managing Spirit pieces vs straight crit/mastery ones. So I have options as to where to grab the Spirit, for DPS/bear there is typically only 1 option for most gear slots per tier.

I'm pretty happy with druid healer gearing.

There's the whole spirit vs mastery thing, haste break points, and a variety of talent choices to compliment. So much more interesting then in WotLK. Especially t8, when:

-You didn't need mana with the awakening idol and spark of hope, so spirit, intellect & mp5 were pretty worthless.
-You had enough haste to get the RJ GCD down to 1 second so it was pretty useless.
-HoTs couldn't crit.

It's great when the stats you want are spellpower, and spirit; but only because it gave like .18 spellpower or something...
