flash healing and PoMFollow

#1 Dec 26 2010 at 10:18 PM Rating: Decent
ok ive been reading and reading and reading almost everything i can about disc healing when time allows, i have a question
i am a lvl 65 disc , there is only 4 buttons i use in almost any random i run.
1 flash heal
2 PoM
3 shield
4 dispel

i see ppl saying i should use smite/heal
or greater healing
but i find flash heal faster and mana friendly at all times.
my flash heal is healing around 5-6k most times
greater heal is only about 1.5 more but alot longer to cast.
does this all make sense or is it me being a noob.

I at 66 and found healing very forgiving. But I beleive after 80+ healing will take more mana to use. Even thou I have no healer at that level. But had heard lot of guild mate saying they have to use more of there healing spells and hell the dps less often as not to run out of mana.

If you have the mana for it then sure use FH. Most of the use Smite/Heal/GH stuff is for us at the cap. It is a whole new ball game once you hit 83 or so and ratings really start to steepen.

Yeah, when you get to Cataclysm content you'll find that small amount of efficiency will go a long, long way.

Also, don't forget about Penance. Penance is your friend.

well ill consider it as me being a noob then,
thanks for answering my question

and as for Penance i use it when i have 2 like when a DK TANK thinks he is good and pulls a mob and runs into 2 more mobs on the way back to the pull spot.
and as for mana iam running with 10k atm with 199 combat mana regen.
i can see why everyone says healers can get lazy running through WOTLK
hopeing to be near mid 70's by next week reaching and clawing my way out of the boreing and into the more interesting and fun part of this game.

I can burn through my 80k mana pretty quick if things aren't going smoothly. Flash heal really will become an emergency heal for you, as intended.

I replaced FH with heal on my mouse keybindings, and moved FH to a combination I must intentionally select. Usually I will use smite rather than heal. Not only does it do damage, but as a smart heal, it automatically chooses the person in range that needs a heal the most. Also I can pop ArchAngel with it. I use the smite glyph because adding Holy Fire ups my fun factor.

Basically, as disc, you will use all your spells, and bubble spam a bit less. PoH is great in 5 mans. Penance is awesome. When the tank is getting dangerously low, you are going to throw everything at him, with an emphasis on quick mitigation. Shield and PoM are instants, renew slows damage, Pain Suppression or PW:Barrier, FH, GH, and PoH, Divine Hymn. You are going to use them all where appropriate, and that's very fun.
