Knew it would happen, but here it is.

Rather than try and address multiple threads, I'm just going to plop our current thoughts in this one post. Please excuse the brevity.

1) We think Fury, Arms, Feral cat and Retribution dps is too low and we will be buffing them.

2) We think mage dps is too high, especially Fire, and will be nerfing it.

3) We think Shadow priest dps is too high, but that's largely a result of Shadow Word: Death spam, which is tough on healers. We'll be fixing that.

4) We think Destro warlock dps is too high, but that's largely a result of Searing Pain spam, which is tough on tanks. We'll be fixing that.

5) As we suspected, PvP dps is just too high given that the health pools of Cataclysm haven't kicked in yet. While competitive PvP is over for the moment, we still want the environment to feel better so we will be buffing resilience. This change might be reverted at level 85.

There will probably be more changes after another night of raiding and BGs. Many of the bug fixes we have made today will affect dps as well. Stay tuned.

2) We lowered the base points and coefficients of many mage abilities, but lowered Fire more than the other two.

the more annoying part was that our dps wasn't spectacular (did a half dozen fights last night in H ICC) it was just a lot better than most of the others (ahem, melee). I was doing about 13-14k depending on the fight (about 1-1.5k more than usual) which I would expect with new mechanics, the problem is that a lot who were doing >10k before were doing 9-10k now and were QQing.

I'll be switching to frost. In our raid, I was fire and the other mage was frost and we were neck and neck the whole nite. Also, if you look at wol, the top dps for 7 bosses were frost mages. Since they nerfed fire more than frost, I'll be switching.

Anyway, why the ratedowns? I guess someone didn't read the "yay" as being sarcastic. lol dur.

no idea for the ratedowns /shrug.

I destroyed the frost mages in the raid tonight, I'm still doing about 1-2k less dps than I was last night, but overall it wasn't bad. Too bad they sort of broke impact when they fixed the 100%-uptime pyromaniac bug though.

I decided to just stay fire for 2 weeks, unless it's awful. I have an idea...

Due to guild issues (Lack of one...) I haven't been raiding in a few months, but I did a few 5 mans.

The biggest issue for me (Arcane spec) was the lack of anything lasting more than a few seconds - even bosses... My mage is in no way a 10k+ DPS - so I'm not high end... (GS ~5100) But I was pulling 8k in UP (First boss) which is about 2k higher than my norm...

2k for a respec - that seems a little rich....
