UI PacksFollow

So I've been gone from WoW for a good long while... and is now returning. I remember there was this great UI pack for Priests (and other classes) that looked very good, was clean and simple, but I can't for the life of me remember the name of it. I can't stand using the stock UI, and I can't for the life of me remember what the UI pack contained, so just reassembling it from scratch isn't going to be a choice.

Anyone got a few UI pack names (and example screenshots even) that they'd feel like sharing?

Oh, and that old stopcast macro thingy that let you cast heals indefinitely until you decided to let it land, does that work still? And if so, what was the macro?

It's in the sticky, but you won't need it, trust me.

As for the UI... Aliena's UI is easy, straightforward and pretty damn decent. Has Skada to boot, so you can show everyone how awesome your absorbs are.

Oooooh, that looks downright wicked for my healer. I've already gotten Caith UI (the one I mentioned I used but couldn't find) or at least most of it working, but I think I'm simply going to back that up and try this one out. Similar style when it comes to just looking good and simple, while providing all pertinent information.

Thanks.

... why won't I need it, by the way? I loved having Gheal just keep casting until it showed that it would land for it's full effect and leaving the tank at 99% health. No overhealing, and maximum Healing per mana. Ah well, I'll try it out.

You won't need it because you're not going to use greater heal, ever, in this expansion. It's hard to explain without going into a hugely detailed story, but Ghostcrawler summarized it for me in one of his posts some time ago; "If someone's not on full health, he's either gonna be dead or healed up to full within the next three seconds".

Even with the speed boost from Serendipity in holy, you NEVER get any good Greater Heals off. Not to mention the fact that if you want to tank heal you're disc, and if you want to raid heal you don't need Greater Heal in the first place.

Then there's the fact that the 5 second rule was nerfed and that you don't rely on it as much anymore, which combines itself with the fact that you literally cannot really go out of mana anymore and that spamming/sniping heals is more important than watching your overhealing. 30-40% overheal is normal for a priest, for as much as people even look at the overheal meters.

Long story short; you need to keep casting and pump at least one heal out every global cooldown. Greater Heal with it's 3 (2.5) second cast timer just doesn't fit in. It's way too slow and it's HPM is terrible regardless.

Fixed.

Also, UI packs are for weaklings. Build your own UI from the ground up.

Now days someone is at 100%, will hit 100% in the next couple of GCDs, or will be dead.

That was it.

But yeah...

Can't be ****** 80+ addons to fiddle with and fix for a dozen different characters? Meh... I'll get a UI pack I enjoy and modify it until I'm happy with it. Saves me an hour or more per character overall.

You only need 2 or 3 setups really.
One for dps, one for healing and possibly one for tanking, although a dps setup worked fine for me there.

Eh, Aithain. I like my setups to be tailored to the class. No addons that class don't need, no addons that cater to speccs I don't use and so on. Is it a character used for PvP? Tailor the UI for that. Is it a character used almost exclusively for PvE? Tailor it for that. And so on and so forth.

I hate information overload, and I hate looking for information I need. And of course, the control schemes for each character and so on.

Anyway, thanks for the help so far. I think I've gotten most of what I need fixed and figured out. Just needs tweaking with groups and so on.
