As prot war is by far the best looking talent tree I've seen so far and I enjoyed leveling my warrior as port and tanking on him.
So when/if I come back I'll probably play that toon as my main.

Here is what I've come up with so far for Prot: 2/8/31
There's actually some interesting choices in there depending on what you do.
It might be worth it to get 3/3 Shield spec if rage is an issue, or maybe Piercing Howl for heroics or impending victory over something like gag order.
All in all it looks interesting.

Have no idea if this would do well, but I came up with this: 4/2/35

Rend up (even thought it's minimal) because now it's gonna be on all targets you thunderclap it onto, and honestly the whole Prot tree is just win, so it's hard to say no to any talent except Safeguard.

Blood Craze, while really cool, and with the new Cataclysm health scaling is probably worth it, just feels ~ PvPish to me.

10% chance of getting back 7.5% hp whenever you take damage just looks way too good to pass up to me.
If you take damage once every 2 seconds you will get, on average, 7.5% hp back every 20 seconds.
that's 0.375% hp back per second.
Assuming 60k hp that averages out to healing yourself for 2250 health per second.
Even if you'd get hit once every 3 seconds and 2/3rds is overhealing it still ends up as 500 healing per second.

I'm also assuming that Blizzard will want to try to avoid the huge hits that destroy tanks if they get hit twice in a row and try to stick to faster but weaker hits.
Combine that with the fact that healer mana will matter again in Cataclysm and a huge amount of self healing is pretty sexy.

That said, if we get into a situation where mana doesn't matter and tanks are continuously topped off then Blood Craze completely loses it's value and your build is better.

I'm really digging that Blood and Thunder talent.

4/5/32 Is what I came up with. Depending on how healing is, I would spec for Blood Craze and and Field Dressing, copying the build Aeth linked.

2/7/32 Is what I would use if I were having major rage issues, but they'd have to be really bad for me to spec like this.

Blood and Thunder makes me feel like a DK spreading diseases, if I'm honest, but I still like it, and it could be a decent AoE threat generator mixed with improved rend. Gives us a reason to click it now :)

lmao.

I click both Rend and Cleave, and a few other abilities. My 1-6, -, and 0 is what I click. 7-9 I use, but I don't push them via Keyboard.
But that is due to me using a Game Pad to play, and they are kind of in an unnatural reach (thus the clicking).

The only things I click while tanking are my Cool downs, and taunt, because I cant find a key I like for it.

I highly doubt I'm going to re-hit 80 before cata hits, I've not logged in in about 4 days, and my baby warrior is still only level 13.

The back mouse button is my taunt key, it's an arrow pointing to me so it feels logical and appropriate plus it's a button I can hit instantly any time.
The front mouse button is charge, or deathgrip on my tanking chars.

My cooldowns are generally 6 through 0 as I don't accidentally push those although I've thought about changing them as they take half a second or so to reach.

I'm seriously loving how the prot tree is coming along. Thunderstruck (when adjusted) and Blood & Thunder are sick. Combine those with the added self-healing and I'm finding very little reason to bother with having another tank (my druid).

Aethien's OP build is pretty much the one I was thinking of going for personally. Though depending on raid healing at 85 going for Imp. Rend + Blitz (ie the Victory Rush build) could be a threat monster. We'll see.

Anyone else feel like prot warriors are getting just too good to be true?

I think it's mostly that other classes/trees aren't at a point where prot is yet.
Prot has several options and choices available making it very interesting.

I certainly don't expect the trees to be even near-done. But it's the trend of what they're doing with prot warriors is what I'm excited about. Giving us more interesting choices than we currently have is excellent and the fact that those choices are (so far) very well balanced with each other is bonus.

But, this is exactly what I'm not seeing in the feral tree at the moment. If anything the changes back and forth so far there have felt more like "How are we going to make this work" rather than "How are going to make this cooler?" Maybe something is coming Soonâ„¢ for ferals but so far there's nothing on the level of cool-factor that Blood & Thunder, or Heroic Leap brings to warriors.

With that said, I do love both my warrior and druid and plan on bringing them up to level cap. I just wish I were more excited about something for mah kitty/bear like I am about my warrior.

In other news... I'm guessing that the self-healing builds will have more prominence later in the tiers and the threat-centric builds will be more popular early on due to threat scaling with Stam. The further we get into a tier, the more Stam we have from our gear, the less threat is an issue. Plus later in most tiers survivability is more the issue than threat anyway.... what'ch'all think?

They had cool ideas for prot warriors, not so much for ferals or hunters.
And I think I read somewhere that Warriors are one of the classes that they're the furthest with as far as talents go.

I'd say that at this point in time, the trees that are farthest along are mage, rogue, shaman and warrior. Paladin would be close except that things have changed so much that we still have to move talents around quite a bit. source

Admittedly.

I guess they just didn't have that "moment of inspiration" for feral as someone obviously had for warriors....

Just more cake for warriors =)

Don't Warriors have a history of being nerfed into the depths of hell, or was that just people over reacting to the 10% damage reduction on Titans Grip? Anyways, If the Warrior talents stay just like they are, I'll be happy, because I think it's by far the most polished tree, and It definitely seems to work from a Prot perspective.

New build! 7/3/31
Blood Craze now a rank 1 talent so I don't see any warrior not picking it up anymore.
And I went with deep wounds in Arms now but I'm not sure about it.
The option of getting Second Wind for specific fights where a boss does a big AoE+stun/immobilize is interesting.
Incite might be really good, with a +5/10/15% chance to crit with Heroic Strike and a 33/66/100% chance to have the next heroic strike cost 0 rage for the next 6 seconds if you crit with a heroic strike.
Although I'm not sure how much it will be used. If we end up using it a lot however, there's the option of getting 30% chance to crit for heroic strikes.

All in all an improvement I think, although it does feel like there's a bit more floating talent points.

The last beta build had me surprised at how good the warrior talents were. At first glance they almost seem overpowered, but that can always be tuned with numbers I guess.. Just hope they keep the new mechanics and tune them instead of outright remove things..
