Disc main spec with Shadow as the secondary tree? I'm intrigued.

Q. I'm excited about the Smite mechanic in Disc. Are you going to do anything about hit so that mechanic can be effective?
A. We had a talent to give you a bunch of spell hit in a beta build, but spell hit on your offensive spells is a hard sell in the new talent model. But yes, we want to do something about spell hit for the Discipline Archangel specialization, possibly move up Twisting Faith to a tier that Discipline can obtain it in Shadow (so your spirit would convert to hit as Discipline/Shadow sub-specialization).

Source.

Discuss.

As the trees currently are?

Please, god, no. I've already got problems picking up all the talents I NEED (contrary to the other classes, priests still have a bunch of the must-have talents in their specs), and one of them is Inspiration. If I'm also forced to put points in Shadow to make the Smite-trick work, there's no way it's going to be possible for me to grab all the other must-haves.

If they can play with disc and shadow a little bit more (or make Inspiration and talents like Grace less mandatory), I'm all for some disc/shadow or holy/shadow subspecs, though.

No way, I agree. This suggests moving worthwhile stuff down to make it attractive. And if they leave Divine Fury in Holy there's 3 points you have to spend there even if you go Disc for 7 more or whatever.

By the time I fill out disc with what I want, I only have 3 points left. Where's that fun part they talked about where you have spare points left over to put where ever you want?

So is smite spec to be called 'Discipline/Archangel' specialization? The fact that they actually had a name for it (which probably means they're talking about it around the office) was sort of intriguing.

I will say that specializing in Disc is awesome for leveling. I can kill almost all yellow enemies with one Holy Fire, Smite and then Penance. If they aren't dead yet, they have less than 100 HP left and I can finish them off with my wand. Archangel is pretty cool. Right now I'm just using it for the 3% mana regen. The fact that you can recast it every 15 seconds or so is pretty awesome.
