I am only 4 levels away from hitting Northrend for the last time this expansion.

Isn't that an excellent feeling? With my last alt through the Outland it was so fun to think I was putting sorting through boar **** and fighting yucky worms behind me forever. Or at least until Cataclysm, when I'll be leveling a shaman. Azeroth was more fun, because it really was forever. So long, Caliph Scorpidsting! Don't let the door hit you in the ***, A-Me! (Pamela, I wish you nothing but the best and hope you can now rest peacefully with your doll.)

Sadly, the alts I want to get to 80 before the expansion are 70, 72, and 74. The 74 will make it but the other two I'm not sure about. Borean Tundra breaks my spirit.

It's indeed a nice feeling Teacake. Alas, I will also miss Pamela if she's removed from the game. I hope not, it's my favourite quest and I always make a point of doing that questline, sooner or later. Usually at level 76+. Pontifex, of course, has the final quest in that quest chain in his to-do list.

Since the 70-80 level grind is still obscenely long in terms of the EXP required, I don't think I'll hit 80 for at least a further month, at the very least though. I'm oh-so-grateful about the whole Smyte Specc for the first 40 levels. Shadow specc is fun from 40 onwards, but I just find the 10-40 grind inmensely boring as shadow as I found myself running out of mana and drinking after ever pull.

I've got three other alts, but I don't think they'll get any love before Cata. Hunter at 60 is tempting, rogue at 20 looks hard to stomach, warrior at 5 is hopeless.

Gogo Pontifex, hoping he'll be in Northrend by next monday.

I hadn't checked in on this thread for a while so I started back at the beginning and read to the end. It's a lovely and, for me anyway, a somewhat inspiring narrative.

Congratulations to you.

Well, it turns out Pontifex didn't make it in the end. I cancelled my account some weeks ago and subscription's run out.

Happy summer everyone.

Well, I reactivated my account and have picked things where I left them. Blue EXP + Heirlooms = I took Pontifex from level 67 to level 71 in just 4 and a half hours. I plan not to rush him at all, but I´d like him to hit 80 before Cata comes out, when I will probably faction and server change all my toons (Blizz will take those 200 bucks thank you very much).

Incidentally, less than 4 days to level 71, either I'm ace at it by now or I was crap before, but it takes no time to level these days.

Since I'm at it, I'll probably make him a Tauren priest, because Taurens are, you know, cool.

Already reserved the names on my target realm where I'll join a few old friends.

Anyhow, shadow leveling is fast, but I do miss having some more buttons to press.

Did you all have a good summer (that's where I left this thread)? Mine was awesome.

I am glad to hear that it is all working out for you.

I didn't have the best of summers, but ca't really complain either.

Welcome back. With Heirlooms and Tome of Cold Weather Flight the levels do go by pretty quick. Add to that the LFG system or some guild runs for a big boost.

It's a great time to be coming back, with the patch about to hit, pre-Cataclysm events, and the expansion just around the corner.

Decisions, decisions. I started moving my above 60 toons to another server where I am joining some old friends, and of course faction changing 6/7 to horde (number 7 was still horde). I do this, of course, because unlike YOU greedy people I realize Blizzard employees have families to feed too. And they probably eat diamonds.

So I'm not going to move my BE paladin until 4.0.3 comes out to change him from a Draenei to a Tauren, but most others, which I'm not playing anyhow these days, are on their way.

Pontifex though, is still level 71 (just 50k shy of 72), so I'm debating wether to transfer him and make him an undead priest and level him horde or hold him alliance and transfer him once he's 80. Hmmmm. I probably will stick to alliance as I hadn't leveled any alliance toons since 2.4 came out and of course I have never seen Wotlk leveling content from that side.

Absolutely unrelated note, I'm getting a new desktop for Cata. Want to be able to play at maxx settings ALL-THE-TIME.

Anyhow, status report : Pontifex is fun. I've solo'd quests that called for groups of 3 just kitting (more like running like Sir Robin, that is, bravely), and haven't healed anything for ages. I'll have to get around to that at some stage I guess. I REALLY want a disc priest after all.

But I'm not aiming for three thousand priests. That's just for Teacake. And they are BEs anyhow.

Slow going, but fun. I'm trying to level Pontifex in small sessions, and so far I'm having a good time. Level 74 now, and finally I get my AoE dps spell. Good times.

I'm trying to resist the urge to buy him a few mounts just for kicks. So far it's working, but with him finally repaying the gold investment with herbs and specially glyphs which sell quite handsomely in my server these days, it's becoming increasingly hard XD. So I'll probably get him a brown bear at some stage soon-ish.

80 before Cata, that's my target. Gogo Pontifex.

You can definitely hit 80 before cataclysm. Have fun, and good luck. If you choose to que up in the LFG tool while questing, the instances can give you a big XP boost.

I think I wasted days of leveling time getting CE and CC exalted at 71, along with the Mag'har exalted for a Talbuk, but it's so worth it. The Cenarion War Hippogryph is still a relatively rare mount that looks quite wicked, and the White War Talbuk looks downright sick both in and out of Shadowform.

Invest in it if you want it. This game isn't about forcing yourself to work, or at least isn't supposed to. It was once upon a time about having fun while playing.

In before the US wakes up!!!!! (silly monday morning comment)

Nice easy progress on Pontifex. 75 already, and half way-ish to 76. Run out of blue exp on friday, a first since I returned to pontifex a few weeks back when he was 67, so I stopped playing right then. Next I log him I should be able to push him to 76 with blue exp.

I finally got him a brown bear just for the hell of it. Not that a Draenei male looks any good on it, but I wanted a change for the elekk I've been riding since level 20. I'll probably server and faction change him to horde this week too. I've enjoyed leveling something aliance after so long a time too, a much welcome break in terms of leveling path allround, but I want to try to work on faction rep through the ToC dailies so I can get a few mounts pre-cata on the priest.

Long weekend coming up, 80 should be on the cards.

Almost 78 now. Sholazar Basin has been AMAZING for Pontifex, what with him being an inscriptor and there being so many herbs it's almost like I've taken flight when my mini-map explodes with herbs everywhere. Must be the fact that no-one farms these days I guess, but I'm getting over 100 herbs an hour (not nodes, 100 "herb-items").

I replaced my heirloom staff with the ring-of-valour one and I'm about to replace that one for the Kalua'k rep one handed mace and my Faces of Doom. Feels good to get new items after such a long run.

I don't really know what I'll do once I hit 80, which should be tomorrow or sunday. First and foremost, I have no idea about how to heal as disc. And then there's the fact that Cata is only a month ago. Hmmm. Decisions, decisions.

I might just level my hunter a bit. I left him at 60 the day before Wotlk came out (not making this up), I'm sure he has a bit of rested exp on him ...

Ding 80.

/played 5d9h40m.

I did a quick HC and it was fun. Pontifex is now decked in 6 200+ pieces of gear (Both HH rings help a lot).

Thanks again for the tips, specially at lower levels.

Priests are definitely one of the more satisfying classes to play at cap, from my experience. It took me 19-20 priests before I managed to finally hit 80, most of them didn't even reach level 50. Feels good to have one at 80.

Gratz. My priest is still my favorite, even after 225d played on him.
