I drove almost that much today. Good enough?

My understanding is that it will either be the best thing you ever did, or the worst. People don't seem to have a middling experience. There is someone claiming that it increases your IQ, other than Timothy Leary (who is dead, you know). I can't find a link to a reputable site for that claim though.

Maz would have to travel a long while to get to any ocean, given that Denmark is almost entirely surrounded by the north sea.

the north sea counts as ocean, what with it being salt water and part of the atlantic

its all part of the same giant interconnected body of salt water.

ergo its the ocean.

the ocean has many names but there is only one ocean.

sometimes it is called a sea, sometimes an ocean but they all share the same water.

there is only the 1 ocean.

The ocean and the sea is all called the same thing here, anyway (havet), so, yeah, we're surrounded by the sea/ocean (North Sea and Baltic Sea, divided by the Øresund).

I've mainly fished in saltwater. Herring fishing in the early hours of the day out in the Øresund. Very hectic once you hit a school of fish, but also good fun, and it taught me how to clean a fish in like five seconds flat.

Lake fishing sounds relaxing. I could see myself with a six pack of the local brew, high sun, a slight breeze and a dead still lake.

Edit: We do call the specific Oceans (Pacific Ocean, etc.) for "oceaner" or "verdenshave" (world seas). From what I've found out, whether you use sea or ocean for saltwater only really matters geographically. In daily terminology, both are used interchangeably.

We got headshots done for our website at work. These are, undoubtedly, the worst pictures of me ever taken. And that's not an exaggeration. I look so uncomfortable, because the photographer was so freaking creepy...

Also, as a photographer, there is nothing worse than shots like that because nobody likes the way they look in photos, nobody is willing to cooperate because they're forced to do this **** by their boss and they really don't want to and the result is ****** photos all around.

He was this older Eastern European with so much hair you could barely see his face, and he just had a really weird countenance. And I was less creeped out by the way he treated me (which was still creepy) than by the way he treated my female coworkers.

Going through the pictures, you can tell all the points he said something really awkward, because it's 3-5 pictures of them working even harder to hide their grimace.

Sounds like your boss picked the cheapest option for a photographer, just some guy with little skill but who has the equipment and does mind numbing stuff like this to make a buck.

Those people tend to either do this kind of thing or they do weddings and people only hire them because they're cheap. Often because they just don't spend the necessary time needed to do a good job. I mean, if you know a wedding is a good 40ish hours of work, you don't do them for $400.

I work for a university and he's the "official" photographer. We don't have to use him, but because of the contract he's way cheaper than other options. For our big events, we go ahead and pay someone else. But something like this, it wouldn't have been a justifiable cost for accounting.

We are in the process of getting these done here also, and boy did you sum it up nicely Aethien. Nail, meet hammer.

I am hating the idea of this, because I know no matter how I try to act nonchalant and relaxed, the photo will look like a big uptight doofus trying to look nonchalant and relaxed. And our photographer is one of the guys in the office who has been using a digital camera we've had for a few years. I actually toyed with the idea of getting them done professionally on the weekend, but that would involve spending my hard-earned money for a website that is going to be an embarrassment anyway.

I'll never understand these websites people throw together. I thought the purpose was to attract business, not cause people to run screaming from their computer monitors. Invest a little money. Have the website professionally developed and bring in a photographer to take not just head shots, but spend the day while people work and take photos to populate the website with. I think we're actually going to have stock photos of a conference room . . . Smiley: disappointed

For the photos, go to the nearest park and shoot them under the trees (to avoid direct sunlight, so cloudy weather works too). The reason to go outside is that inside you likely have these monstrosities in the office and the vile light they give makes everyone look sick or dead, if you're lucky enough to work with more regular lightbulbs you're still ****** for photos since those are so orange in colour that they'll kill all skin tones.

The sun on the other hand has the tendency to make people look more alive but bright sun results in squinting eyes, shooting into the sun or very hard shadows that turn your face into a mess of black and white shapes because the camera can't handle the contrast.

Other than that you want people as comfortable and relaxed as possible (another thing where a few hours outside do a world of good). If you have all that it's a matter of not giving a **** what you look like for the person who's being photographed and taking lots and lots of photos so you can pick the best one.

Thumbs down from me for LSD. Never tried it myself, but a guy I went to school with pretty much had his life destroyed by it. He has had mental issues ever since that were certainly not apparent before hand.
