I'm guessing you meant "without"?

I don't have enough marketable skills to risk that.

So wait, are you quitting with another job lined up, or heading into unemployment?

Because I'd suggest sticking it out while you do the job hunting stuff.

Kind of depends on how wanted his skills are. If you can give your 2 weeks notice and you're sure you can get a new job within 2 or 3 weeks it's nice to be able to start as soon as possible.

Yeah, but is it worth wagering on?

Any employer who would take issue with a 2 week wait for you to start is an employer you almost certainly don't want to be working for in the first place.

Plus, having an established income lets you be discerning. When you have money coming in, you can actually wait for the job offer you want, rather than feel pressured into accepting something less beneficial.

I definitely agree.

If the worst he can say about the current job is that it's boring and doesn't pay enough, I say stay until he has something new.

I've never done this. In addition to the reasons digg set out, I'd be concerned about having a gap on my resume.

Of course, if you're awesome then resumes don't matter.

Me? I can't think of a reason to move anywhere else in the world short of it being a mutual family decision, which translates to "wife decides, I whine about for a few days and begrudgingly go along with it anyway."

I'd move north a few more hours. Somewhere with more ocean on-flow. Too far from the coast here, don't like the warmer weather. The trick would be getting a job doing what I do, and making enough with it to live as comfortably as here (minus the weather of course).

I'm all for vacation or visiting, but as far as up and moving on a relatively permanent basis I can't think of a single reason or place to do so. The way I see it, the only thing anywhere else can offer over my home now is beautiful scenery, and I can get that from a picture. Maybe within the city to one of the ritzier areas, or one of those bigass Manhattan multi-level condos. Beyond that nothing comes to mind.

I @#%^ing hate it when that happens. I was dozing off almost 2 hours ago and I can't keep my eyes closed now that I'm in bed.

I've finally verified that I am unable to take naps. If I take a one-hour nap, I wake up feeling like I've got a case of bad hangovers. If I wake up at all. More often than not, I ignore the alarm and wake up four hours later. Four-hour naps are the worst. I get the same side effects as the one-hour nap, but unlike the one-hour nap, the four-hour nap completely **** up my sleep cycle. I can't wake up after a four-hour nap and then simply go to sleep again a few hours later. If I do, I wake up in the middle of the night, which means I'm even more tired when I get home from work. The only other alternative is that the four-hour nap replaces my regular sleep, but then I'm completely wasted by the time I have to go to work.

If I'm feeling tired after a day at work, I tend to live off of sugar and caffeine until about 45 minutes before bed time. Then I crash, completely. I'm not kidding. If I miss that 45-minute mark, I drop where I stand. There's been times where I've barely made it from the PC to the bed (which is right next to the PC) because I went over the 45-minute mark.

Ugh, I wish I was a Type A personality sometimes. 8-4 jobs weren't made for Type B people.

If I had to go to one for the first time again I'd pick Cinderella, but they are so completely different I couldn't compare them.

Yeah, it's nice in the winter though. You stay in the nice warm car while someone else runs around in all the wind and rain and stuff. I'll pay an extra penny a gallon for that. Smiley: lol

So going from Seattle to California or vice versa? Because people don't usually come here. Well unless they're beer people or something, or hippies.

My dad and I drove here from LA. We filled up in Redding, CA, and made the 420-mile drive to Portland with a 1/4 of a tank still left. For the first time in 6 years, our Camry is finally getting 33 mpg on the highway, the EPA's estimate.

The attendant who filled my tank was nice, but he topped my tank off to the nearest dollar, and I wanted to punch him in the face for doing that. I told my dad that next time, I'm taking a five-minute drive across the state border to fill my own **** tank.
