And I know 3 people with Asbergers (well, 4 now I guess) :P. In one of whom you can barely see any signs of it, even if you know he has it. You'd fall into this category, I suppose--I can't say I really see any signs of Asbergers in you, so it must be a minor case.
You won't notice it (and neither will I) in a situation where I feel comfortable and can understand what is going on.
Get me in a social situation where I don't understand what is going on and my mind goes into full on PANIC! mode. If it's a situation that touches on my fears/phobias I'm almost unable to function. In so far that I'll be physically sick from the nerves/fears.

Really goes to show partly why designing autistic-friendly regulations/policies/whatever is so hard. It's really a case-by-case sort of thing. Luckily, mild-Asbergers isn't going to be any kind of significant disadvantage for you. Other than people asking you if you're like Rain Man, that is.
As long as I have a psychologist to help me overcome the hurdles I create/face, there's not much of a problem. Without my psychologist and other help I'm likely to get myself into a lot of trouble though and even my relatively light form of Aspergers is going to create major issues in day to day life. You just won't notice it as much here because if I don't get it I can read a post three times if I need to instead of stare at whoever is saying it with a puzzled face.
Well that and I feel comfortable here.

Spoken French is quite easy for me, I can make everything sound French. (Then again, Dutch people have been proven to be really good at imitating the sound of a language through research)
And as far as French goes, EVERYTHING is an exception to the rule. EVERYTHING! Smiley: grin

I was under the impression that there was medication for Asperger's? An ex of mine who lives in the UK has Asperger's and he told me they put him on specific medication for it, that was different than the antidepressants he'd been on before. He might just be a special case though. I don't know how bad his case is, but I know that his quality of life has improved quite a bit since he was diagnosed.
I don't think there's medication for Aspergers, unless there's medication for your specific phobia (which in my case, is being embarrassed in public, yay for double teaming up with what I always have had and will have issues with*).
You can't really prescribe medication against difficulty in dealing with social situations, especially since I and pretty much all other Aspergers/Autistics with me simply do not understand those social situations. Many social situations simply do not make sense to me, they're not what I consider to be logical.

No offense intended, meng. But the description of the condition is so vague that anyone can have it. I mean, I have trouble sometimes counting but I don't think its dyscalculia, you know? I'm manipulative, cunning, self-serving, have a grandiose sense of self, a severe lack of remorse for like 90% of my actions, and pretty poor impulse control but I don't believe myself to be a sociopath.

Like I said, it's not that I don't believe in the condition, just that the symptoms are so generically described that essentially everyone has it.
It's not a condition until it structurally hinders you in your ability to function in society.
But you're right, everyone is autistic to some degree, it's a grayscale and not at all black and white. Autism isn't so much a disorder as much as it is a different way that your brain works. Sadly for me, our society is made for people on one end of the scale which leaves me and everyone else from the middle of the scale or further to the side of autism with a serious disadvantage.

*: I'm being really open and honest here, moreso than I would normally do even through the anonymity of the internet, thank me being tipsy or something. Not that it is at all easy to type right now though, I just didn't delete it (yay being tipsy?). And if you abuse this information I will hunt you down and murder you in your sleep with a rusty axe, not kidding either. Smiley: smile

Don't worry. Somehow you've managed to make all your quirks endearing. I mean, I can't even hate you for periodically posting pictures of spiders, and that's a crime worthy of torture.

I can;t help it, I just find spiders fascinating. Almost as fascinating as dinosaurs.

And that's saying a lot.
dinosaurs are the most awesome creatures ever. Partially because they've all been dead for an eternity and thus cannot possibly be a threat to me.

Dinosaurs are pretty awesome. This is true. Hence why they are involved in every sci-fi/fantasy show/book/comic/game ever created. XD

The other day, there was a package of tampons on the kitchen table. I asked one of my roommates whose they were (their periods are synced up now, so I get to deal with two irritated women at the same time Smiley: disappointed).

Her response, "You can't tell?"

My response: Smiley: glare.

I very happily know no details about their vaginas. It's like she expected me to figure out whose they were by their personalities or something...

Let me get this straight... your female roommate actually expected you (a gay man) to be able to tell whose tampons they were? I wouldn't even expect a straight guy to know that, let alone someone who has no investment in actually knowing that kind of stuff lol.

Yeah, salmon is super nummy. J made a really tasty salmon and cream cheese dip the other night with steak and some special type of manicotti. <3 having a man who can do gourmet cooking.

Also, got things cleared up with E, so that makes me feel loads better.

While you tacked on some other stuff that this guy did, I'm just curious as to if this aspect alone qualifies you to have aspergers, although it definitely puts you on the autism spectrum. Because I make myself physically sick when I'm forced into a situation when I don't know everyone involved. I wouldn't say I had any kind of mental disorder, I had always just chalked it up to me absolutely hating being social in a face to face environment, to the point where I'd rather talk to my sister over skype even though she's downstairs. Although, she's not a stranger, so that might just be me hating the hell out of my sister.

It's not like anyone who's stressed by social situations has autism. But I don't know if asbergers specifically only involves physical social interaction.

According to my psychologist and the research team in the hospital where he works there are enough signs to classify me as Asperger. Go me for being almost officially mentally handicapped! Or something...

I hate to play the olde man curmudgeon card, but why is absolutely every character trait considered a mental disorder nowadays? It's like we're trying to remove responsibility for absolutely everything in our lives.
