Today's +1 offerings were not nearly as conducive to spamming as yesterday's. :(

I don't know what that means in terms of current raid progression, but grats to your guild.

Sinestra is the big bad dargon lady. You have to finish BoT on heroic before you can even attempt to fight her. She's so hard, that only 907 other guilds in the world have killed her. 260 in NA.

Here's a quick question--is 25 man raiding dead now that 10 man gives the same loot, but is balanced around NOT having every buff?

I wouldn't call it dead. It's not as popular anymore, but there's still some guilds that do 25 man raids. It's a situation where there are pros and cons to both. It's easier to get a 10 man group together because it requires less people. However, because there are more people, you are more likely to get every buff available and if a few people die or otherwise ***** up, it won't cause a wipe. So 25 mans are a bit more forgiving. That's always been true though.

And I suppose the Brez cap is significant, too...

The more hard core raiding guilds are mostly 25 man still.

25 man raiding also carries a lot more prestige. For instance, you probably wont ever see Paragon, Ensidia, or Premonition switching to 10 man. Simply because almost every fight is a damn sight harder with 25 people involved, with the exception of (I'm told) Sinestra.
#7565 Jun 27 2011 at 5:46 AM Rating: Good
That's the opposite of what I've heard Rio. Most of the people in my guild seem to think that 25 mans are easier for the reasons I mentioned above. If someone screws up in 25 man, it's a lot less likely to wipe the group than if someone screws up in 10 man.

I dunno, I can't decide what if that's what I actually meant to type or not, because I've been up most of the night sick, and not really concentrating on what I'm doing.

I participated on some of the attempts the guild I am did on her. TBH, it isnt so hard. Its harder to get to her than to kill her, you know? Few people have her because few people cleaned heroic BoT.

25sX10s....well, to be really honest, it's pretty well balanced. I cleaned normal on 10s and am doing heroics on 25s.
In 10s, you have less room to *****. If you lose 1 person, it's probably a wipe. In 25s, you have more room to lose people, but not that much. You can lose 2~3 people out of 25, wich is almost the same as 1 out of 10. Add to that the fact that on 10s is harder to have the right people for the right mechanic. For instance, on Nef10, you wont have 3 tanks, but will have a frost DK kiting the adds. Or a good frost mage. If you dont have neither, you are pretty much screwed. On 25s, you just slap another tank.

In the other hand, in 25s, there are a bunch of fights where the mechanics are a bit harder. Elemental Monstrosity is one, for example. 3rd and 2nd phase on 25s is way, way, waaaaaaay harder than on 10s. There are other examples like that, like Atramedes, Chimaeron, etc.

So, all in all, they are quite balanced, meaning there are fights that are harder on 10s and fights that are harder on 25s. Just not balanced the way it should be, because, ideally, all the fights are the same for either mode.

depending on the fight, 25 can be harder or easier. It certainly is easier to tune a 25 man to be very hard without being impossible just because the raid has way more flexibility and tools. I think this means that generally in order to be doable, the 10 man version is at least slightly easier, but it's not a hard and fast rule.

My google-fu skills are failing me. The thread in general about the heroic Atramedes kill reminded me of a comic that was (I think) linked on MMO-champ, and now I can't find it. It was about the Chimaeron fight, and the raid being surprised that their normal way of killing a boss (tanks die, DPS kills boss before they wipe) was a valid strategy.

It's why I'm saving my honor. Smiley: grin

Also I'm debating a server-transfer for my 2 level capped characters. $50 is a hard pill to swallow, and I hate to cut ties with my old guild (not that 3 other active players really constitutes a "guild"). But as of right now I'm spending most of my time on the new server, and its really killed the motivation to spend any time with the old characters.

$50 though, ugh. Smiley: frown

Transfer one. Transfer the other in the next month. That's what I'm doing right now, at least.

Thinking about buying Magic. Only 10 bucks, seems like a reasonable fare.
I've been playing Darkspore a lot. Pretty fun game and it only cost me around 30 bucks. Although I don't think I will have the desire to finish it or play it on multiplayer, I did some co-op with a friend and had much fun. I recommend it for anyone that can spend the money.
Tried the demo of Dungeon Siege 3 before buying it. Absolutely hate the way you move in the game. And it's not much a hack'n slash, but more a seek and destroy. Anyways, I'm not buying it. A friend of mine did and is trying to get rid of it now.

Hey Maz, do use Spotify? It should be releasing in the USA soonâ„¢ and I'm want to know if it is as cool as it sounds.

Can't use Spotify, Pandora, Netflix or any of those free-/pay-2-play things here. Licensing and all.

Spotify, though, should be really awesome. There are ways to... bypass the restriction and my friends love it. Haven't bothered with it, personally. I multitask while I play and use YouTube for most of my stuff.

I'd like to try Pandora, though. You type in a genre, track title, album title, artist title or whatever and it generates a playlist based on that information. Heard both good and bad about it, but would be cool to try out. I love finding new music all the time. I don't think I'd have ever discovered Florence + The Machine, CocoRosie, Jessie J, DJ Ephixa or pretty much anything I'm listening to right now, had it not been for the "try this" function of YouTube and my net radio Windows gadget.

This weekend I used turntable.fm
Unfortunatelly, it's blocked to only US now, due to copyright and stuff.
Too bad, it was a cool concept where you could upload the music you wanted to play or use any that was in their library (wich was pretty huge, actually), open up a room and have chat with some friends while each one would chose the next music and all.

I have to write a performance test for a code that some software factory did for the company I work at.
I dont even know where to start. Guess I will have to google for examples on that.
