Irn Bru is kinda nice, but not that amazing.
I prefer Cappuccino for my caffeine, or maybe a can of Monster if I'm traveling/it's hot and I'm in desperate need of caffeine.

Yeah, but you're required to participate in Firelands raids, which, at the moment, requires an abnormally inflated gear score (380+ is the new standard on Kazzak, apparently) and a ridiculously complete achievement.

Stupid raid drops. They should make the next legendary a crafted one, or one completed through a long, long quest chain. I'd do all the quests in Northrend again before I'd set foot in Firelands with a PUG raid.

So my mum always goes on about how friends are only friends if I hang out with them IRL on a regular basis. Now that she knows about Skype video chatting, she's decided that I'm not allowed to spend £8 to visit one of my favourite bloggers ever for a cup of tea because we can just talk on Skype if we want to talk. Next thing she'll tell me I should get married over Skype. Smiley: glare

Seriously? I literally only see one of my close friends regularly (because I live with her), since all the others go to different schools. Hell, my two other best friends are currently in Japan (though she normally goes to school in Hawaii) and down in Maryland, which is 5-6 hours away if I drive fast, without adjusting for traffic (which there always is, because the entire state of Delaware is just one big traffic jam ).

We live in a very global world. Unfortunately, seeing people in person is no longer a good criteria for any relationship.

Though didn't your mom grow up in the USSR? I imagine the idea of a global community is going to be difficult for her to grapple with. It's hard enough for anyone who wasn't part of the last generation or two, let alone for people who lived such a significant portion of their life in a heavily isolationist state.

Yeah. It's kind of funny that I'm a third culture kid simply by grace of being born just before the USSR fell apart.
Never mind that I am living the lifestyle kind of excessively, too.

One of my best friends is in NYC at the moment for work and is gonna go to Dubai after to look for a job there. Talk about global community...

Also, FWIW, the GDR wasn't really part of the USSR. Travel restrictions still applied, though. It's always funny to talk to older South Asian folk who went to the UK in 1985 and such and I just sit there thinking "Yeah, you're from a developing country. I'm not. Yet you have always had that privilege..."

What the frack... Seriously, I've been raiding Firelands since it came out, and just recently got Heroic Shannox down, and my ilvl is 376. To reach 380, you'd have to have full 378's and like half 391. Have they not gotten the memo about Firelands being nerfed? You don't need to outgear Firelands to make a successful pug.

Hell, my raid group is currently recruiting a healer, and all I asked for was an ilvl of AROUND 365 and at least 5/6 experience. You need to change servers or something Mazra, that's ridiculous.

People are crazy when it comes to PUG raiding. GearScore started it and boss kill achievements added to it. It's a pain.

Have I told you about the guy recruiting for a FL trash run, requesting ilvl 370 and 7/7 achievement? Because if you haven't killed all the bosses, you don't know how to farm the trash mobs, right?

Right?

It's caster dps yeah, ergo why I said I wanted to go boomkin just so I could do it.

Heh - I am resto but was the only caster in the raid after our Spriest who had a legit DPS off-spec (main spec really, but I got forced resto due to someone leaving). I'm currently about 1/7th of the way through the second phase of collecting stuff.

The quest in Nexus was crazy hard as a druid. Forgret to keep your HoTs up for a moment and you were toast. From what I hear, mages blow through it easily and priests find it bit harder, but druids get extra adds which make it tough!

#11189 Nov 02 2011 at 5:34 PM Rating: Good
You know who really has it rough? Ele shamans. One of my guildies tried it, and it was basically impossible for him, so he went and looked up tips. They all said that unless you have the T12 2 piece don't even bother trying. Ele is his off spec, so... yeah. =x

Mages definitely have it easy with Spellsteal. If I get around to doing the quest on my mage, I figure as frost I'll have a pretty easy time of it. We'll see though.

Maz, that's just ridiculous. If you aren't killing bosses, you don't need to know how to kill the bosses. Seriously, you need to find a new server.

Either the quality and demands of pugs have gotten way worse on Kazzak or you're only picking out the worst ones Mazra.
And seriously, if you want to raid just join a raiding guild that fits your schedule?

Pointless. This kind of crap has spread everywhere.

Sometime in WotLK when this whole Gear Score thing started I moved nearly all my Alliance toons to the RP server my sister had started playing on because I just couldn't handle the crap anymore. The place seemed safe, but it didn't take too long before it all caught up.

I know that there are plenty of people who keep saying how life was so much better before the Dungeon Finder, how you had to sorta build your reputation on the server and all. Truth is, though, that without LFG you probably couldn't even do simple heroics these days, let alone the troll instances.

Random raids are the only way to put an end to this madness, and I only hope that Blizzard manages to limit the negative effects usually coming with random groups. Also, it better not be too long before the feature is being extended to include both T11 and T12 raids so you're less dependant on farming points for gear in order to get yourself ready for the real thing. (Let alone being able to see the stuff you might have missed).

Well, I guess I just have it lucky then. Proudmoore on Horde side isn't like that at all. I mean sure, people ask for a certain ilvl, but it's reasonable. There's still the issue of linking achievements, but that's more something for Firelands than T11 stuff. I rarely, rarely see people request ilvl or achievement for T11 stuff.

I'm picking out the ones I see in the chat, obviously. Like I mentioned earlier, I did manage to get into a FL trash run. The one I was telling Pigtails about was an extreme case I saw, a reference to the ilvl craze going on.

And it was the same back in the later years of WotLK. You just don't remember because we were the ones recruiting for our raids back then, not the other way around. Smiley: tongue

Haven't seen a FL recruitment notice that didn't include a 7/7 achievement and 370+ ilvl requirement, though.

Edit: Holy crap, Questionable Content got a graphics upgrade when? Smiley: jawdrop

QC gets better little by little, you don't really notice how much it changes until you look a year or so in the past and see the difference.
