It was, yes. Insomnia. I have it here and there. Worst about it is the day after, at work. Like, right now.

DotP is fun, but if you're into deckbuilding it's frustratingly limited. You start with a prebuilt deck and unlock additional ones as you play...but they're isolated. You can grind individual cards to add to these decks, but you can't remove any of the base cards, nor can you draft a custom deck from scratch.

If you don't care as much about the deckbuilding it's a great way to get some Magic in a hurry, since it takes care of all the housekeeping bits of the game for you.

Hmmm, that's kinda dumb. Do they include really powerful cards in those decks or something?

And this thread was 3rd in the forum (excluding stickies). Wth?

I couldn't tolerate a card based game where I have little control over the cards. Might as well be a racing game where you can only drive a Pinto.

I just wanted to add that, around 2 months ago, I was diagnosticated by 2 different doctors with this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restless_legs_syndrome
But mine is really minor, doesn't happen all the time, only once in a while when I'm trying to sleep. Like once every month or so. So, I don't take any drugs for it.
Wich causes me to be unable to sleep at least one day every month.
Eh, I'm used to it, I guess.

One of my friends has insomnia, but she needs to take a pill for it every night and guarantee an 8 hour block of sleep. Or else she'll be literally useless the next day (like she can't drive because she's dizzy).

It sucks. I only have those nights every few months. I'd hate having them more.

I haven't seen the 2012 card lists, but 2011 didn't have anything super powerful. They're well balanced decks that can be made a little better with the addition of the unlock cards, but I don't think there's a single Planeswalker in there anywhere or anything like that.

If I count these, I get a decent amount of sleep everyday. Smiley: wink

The little one is starting to go down for like 3 hours at a time now at night though. It's a godsend, since it means me and the Mrs. are doing less sleeping in shifts now.

You know, I can see both sides to this.

On the one hand, creating a game that includes all the cards and gives the freedom to create a deck gives the players the same kind of power and control they want from a game like MTG.

On the other hand, they need to be careful not to completely destroy what's left of their playerbase for the card game. People have invested a lot of money into their decks, and that is money wasted if the game switches to being primarily online.

There's also no way to manage the availability of cards without just selling digital booster packs.

They should make it so a physical card can be load into a virtual card. Like with a code or something.
That way, you can buy the physical one and still play both it in RL and online, or buy the virtual one and play it online.
I would buy the virtual one if it was done that way.

There's still the problem that the dedicated players have invested tons of money into their existing collection.

They will still have their collection and will still be able to phisically play it. Furthermore, they will have the virtual corresponding cards so they wont need to buy them again.
Am I not understanding what you are saying?

The problem comes if the game moves into making online its priority.

It wouldnt be priority. The game would still exist in both ways. They could still hold both types of tournament and such.
When they release new cards, they would do so both physically and virtually.
What they would achieve that way is actually make the game broader. For example, for someone to actually play the game nowadays, they either have to know someone that still plays the game or go somewhere that holds tournaments. If they had it virtually, like they kinda try to do but not really, I, who live in Brazil, could play against you, who live in wherever. And you could use your physical deck, only needing to load it into your profile.

That's why they'd be more likely to switch to a purely virtual model, in all likelihood. The advantages over the physical game are immense from a business perspective. But they suck from the perspective of veteran players and game shops.

Okay, summary of my day:

My friend got held up at customs for an hour and interrogated and ****, so he was really shaken up when I met him. He's amazing. Kind of really awkward, but that's sort of endearing, and he has the prettiest hands I've ever seen on anyone ever and is just generally so pretty and smells good and *gush*. I don't know what is going to happen with/between us, but I think it went reasonably well. I'm just sad that he's going to be really far away so soon!

My other friend looks like he's 16, and since I do, too, we totally behaved like a 16 year old couple, except we sort of switched to high brow comp sci talk every now and again.

I ordered a shalwar kameez (a pretty dark red and orange one) that is going to get custom made for me, I managed to haggle down the cloth from £18 to £15 and the tailoring from £33 to £28, so at least more than 10% overall. If my (English) friend hadn't interfered and implied that he'd cover the rest of the cost, I might have been able to go down another 10-15%. I was aiming for £25 in total, but he didn't really help there.
I also bought a midwakh pipe and dokha tobacco, somehow managed to haggle that down from £30 to £15, I've done better in the past but I really was out of practice and 50% down is good. I think they didn't expect a white girl to know how to get the price down, haha.

Mhm.

I'm pretty much falling for this guy hard.

And let all the pent-up energy out on the one I met in the afternoon because I couldn't on him, heh.
