My posting has dropped off as work has gotten busier :(

In a woman? I want someone who can define herself by herself, rather then defining herself completely by the relationship she's in. Which I guess reflects that I'm not 18 anymore.

lol, my graph suggests that I've gone up by about 1k in a few months. >.<

But, hey, in 4 posts I'll pass Kachi and move up a posting rank! :D I passed Anobix today or yesterday. But it doesn't really count when they post 1% of the amount they used to...

I like to think of it as conversing with lots and lots of different people whose replies I don't particularly care about.

I could.

Dumb people have all sorts of stupid fun, you just have to avoid too much intense conversation. Sure after a couple of dates it'd probably get real old, but that wouldn't keep me for giving someone a shot and enjoying the ride while it lasted. Plus I think too much at work, so thinking at other times isn't necessarily tops on my list anyway. Smiley: rolleyes

That said I don't think I could marry someone I thought was dumb. Because lets face it, intelligence is hereditary, and I don't want dumb kids.

Well yeah, going on a couple dates is one thing. I'm not going to start a relationship with someone that's dumb though.

This, totally.

Although from a physical point of view:

Eyes
Smile
Figure

From a mental POV:

Personality
Common Sense (different to intelligence)

Almost agreeing with Maz on that one. But besides a nice smile and pretty eyes the teeth got to be in good condition. Doesn't have to be a ultrashiny pepsodent-smile though. And I'd put tummy on the third place, and the rest after that.

It's the music video to the song "I Like Big Butts" from Sir Mix-a-Lot. Very fun song. :-)

I don't know how I feel about dating people who are as intelligent as me.
I do know that dating someone whose IQ is half mine is a bad idea, but other factors were actually worse in that relationship.

It's not that easy anyway, I'm somewhere above the 99th percentile. When I did date someone who was as intelligent as me, it was awful because he had awesome debating skills and we were both far too competitive and my ego hurt.
I'm getting into something similar again now, and it feels good, really good. This time, there are actually enough differences in fields of expertise that we learn from each other instead of against each other. So far, anyway. I really hope that's meant to last.

Actually, my computing teacher said something along the lines of "why are you dating a baker? That is so below you!" about RJ. Great for my ego, but there's no real difficulty. He's far above average intelligence-wise, and while he won't understand most of the things I'm passionate about and politics discussions always end in yelling because he's far too conservative, it's wonderful and the reasons I'm leaving him have nothing to do with it - I just don't see myself maintaining a long distance relationship for the next 8+ years if it isn't poly.

Also, Axe/Lynx deodorant is awful. And pheromones... eh, it's not even proven that humans react to pheromones like animals do.

I don't need someone as smart as me, I just need someone who I don't think is dumb. I don't think I'm in the 99th percentile but I found engineering pretty easy, so I'm probably not stupid. Also, they probably should have a good vocabulary, because I get irritated by people who continually don't understand the words I use.

As for Khaliva's comment, I think having areas of expertise that are different it really helpful. It's nice if you can look up to your partner in something, and that makes it easier. I don't think a relationship where someone felt that they were better in most categories would be very healthy. It's also an attitude thing though, I would find that kind of thing a lot easier than when I was younger.

Only like .14% of the population have genius level IQs, and that constitutes everything 144 or above or something. And that's the minimum threshold--the highest IQ on record is a korean physicist with an IQ of 210. Just over 2% of the population are considered gifted, with IQs from 130-144. And since many geniuses are just so ridiculously intelligent, even those who are gifted will feel less so in comparison.

But then you watch Sarah Palin on TV and go "Oh... right."

So it's not really hard to believe that many of us Zammers fall into this category. Those interested in theorycraft of a video game are probably generally the upper end of the spectrum--at least above average (115). If you found engineering easy, you're probably one of them Xsarus. I'd wager you are actually in the gifted range.

I think I'd have difficulty dating someone average. I want someone I can learn from, and I'm generally pretty active in investigating fields I'm interested in. If you aren't intelligent enough to make a specialization count, then it's kinda a moot point. But if you are intelligent and specialize in something I've only had a passive interest in (meaning, never studied it with dedication), then you'll have quite a bit to teach me. :D Or at least know enough more in that field that I'll never feel better than you at what you do (which just doesn't seem to be healthy to me).
