So I hit 49 the other day, and a good number of my guild is going to hang at 49 and BG for a while to get some gear.

I am new to the game and this is my first toon, so I am wondering what the best pieces to get are? I have seen some items in Warsong and Arathi that look good, but the item database is so huge overall, that I dont know if I should get them or go out and try instance drops or AH hunting.

Just some suggestions really, maybe what you got, or wished you got. Thanks in advance. If this topic is covered elsewhere, please post a link. I'm at work and dont have the capacity to search around atm. Thanks again.

Im not sure wether you are asking for which gear is good for lvl 49 or which pvp gear there is worth getting.

Anyhow the dreamweave set (tailor crafted) is pretty good, but it lacks stamina. The Zumrah vexing cane from ZF is a really nice staff if u can get it (bad droprate).

Regarding pvp gear worth getting, i would certainly mention the WSG bracers, AB boots and belt.

And for pvp, throw on some stam enchants and you should be fine, very nice bracket for locks :)

Happy hunting

If you're a dagger+offhand lock, get the caster blade from SM. It's the best blade you can get with +spell damage at 49, because the next highest dagger requires level 55 (or somewhere around there). I know I kept it until level 59, when I bought a combustion dagger (I had it for about 20 or so levels). It's called Hypnotic Blade.

Thanks for the responses. I picked up the WSG Bracers and the AB boots. Havent gotten to belt yet, need more marks. Yeah, I found the dreamweave set and it is great.

Does anyone know if I take the AB boots and enchant them to increase speed if that speed increase stacks with the existing one on the boots? Or does it just effectively disappear.

Also what is a locks opinion on the Insignia that dispells poly, fear etc...I can get it in a few days but I am not sure how effective it is with a 5 minute (or maybe 3 minute) cooldown.

BG wise, I seem to be able to hold my own 1v1 and even 1v2. I dont consider skill when I am getting ganked by 5 ppl in the middle of a 1v1...gotta love it. I am afflic and I have found I seem to do best midfield in WSG escorting the flag carrier back to the base. Our spells and abilities really allow us to take at least 4 ppl off the runner.

I picked up the Staff from WSG too, along with the bracers, and the Belt/Boots from AB. I don't know if you have a better staff or what else is out there, but I hadn't run across anything better. Then again, my stance on gear is why go out of my way to get some, I'm just gonna outlevel/replace it soon anyway. Only reason I got some of the 48 stuff from BGs was my gf and I were taking a break from levelling for while with the BGs, so figured I'd get a few upgrades while I was at it.

Regarding the speed enchant, no they do not stack. So you would be better off with a stam enchant like +12 stam (only 12 arcane dust).

About the insignia, im not sure either, 5k honor seems to be alot and even tho i can afford it atm i still hesitate.
I will be getting it some time i reckon, maybe it might as well be now... but those classes that uses fear most (other Locks and priest) usually get their dots up after a fear. I hit my wonderfull spellstone after fear and it seems to often ***** them over in their casting sequence, and they seem to be confused. I quite often turn the tables around just as soon as the fear wears off.

Btw, even tho midfield is great for locks, its also awsome help in getting the flag, instant aoe fear in the flagroom just before FC jump down from balcony always works as a charm for me and my roommate (druid). And the cooldown is short, so its almost always up again when fc runs into problems again.

you will want the ab trinket asap. 400+ absorbed damage(physical) every 2 min is 20% health for us and pretty much can turn the tide vs most of the people.

for the wsg trinket, it's great for instances ie spell penetration. so get it as well for kicks. past that if you're a dedicated bg guy I'd say pick up jewlcrafting, get the trinkets/bop gear from there then drop and get engineering.

good luck and good hunting.
