Yes it is.
The part they failed to mention was the fast that, the elite mob in that quest, requires you to use a item in order to even make him attackable. In doing so, the item debuffs him...making him take 300% more dmg from attacks. So ya, 10k+ crits are impressive...what you might have missed was the mage and lock (or at least when I did the quest, I had a mage and lock with me), Doing Pyroblast and Soulfires criting for nearly 30k!
So, ya the #'s look "cool", but any class could do #'s like that or better!
