New Rogue questions: and yes, I've read the FAQFollow

There's a lot in the Rogue FAQ so it's possible I missed the answers to these:

Mind you, I'm only level 10 so the answers may become apparent later but I'm too impatient and too excited about my rogue.

1. Can you pickpocket any mob or does it have to be humanoid?

2. What is stunlock? I've seen folks talk about it but don't see it on the talent trees.

3. Lockpicking. What is the purpose of opening locked doors? Just to level you skill or are there things to loot behind said doors?

Thank you in advance for your help.

lol... um lets see... u can only pickpocket humanaiods... stunlock is not a skill lol its when u hav ur oppenent constently stunned so that they cant attck at all it takes skill to be able to do this for ex: u start off with cheap shot which gives u 2 combo points u use sinister strike a couple times then u use kidney shot and go from there and if u dont kill them u can use gouge then get behind them for the finishing blow... lock picking is the bomb lol its used to open up doors when u and other people dont hav the key its also used to open up locked chest u find in like dugeons and other places and u can open u locked boxes that drop for mobs and u can also pickpocked humanoids to get lockd boxes so u can open them get ur skill up and get money and poison supplies... it is also used for opening other people locked boxes. the higher skill u are the higher box lvl u can open and people tip u pretty well for the higher lvl boxes

hope this helps

1. Any mobs that have pockets, not restricted to humanoid only. Surprisingly some mobs obviously don't have, but you can still do so...

2. Too many arguement on this, put in simple, you make the target stunned using your abilities. It is not a talent, but a way you utilize your skill to archieve that.

3. Open chest, access to areas that people must have key to go in. If you don't know how to LP, you are not a rogue.

Okay, thanks for the information. Like I said, just started and the only stun move I have atm is gouge but I've been doing stealth/gouge/backstab/ss and if the mob's still alive then evisc. A good combo for the level or is there a better attack plan for a level 10?

heh, i'd Stealth>BS>Gouge>tick>tick>BS> Evisc that's just me tho >_>

Just do whatever you can to kill fast, the fun only starts from level 26 and level 30, where you get Cheap Shot and Kidney Shot.

1. Any mob with pockets (not restricted to humanoids). You can pickpocket some Demons and even those Oozes that slide around.
2.Stunlock - keeping an enemy stunned while using your abilities to diminish its life (cheap shot and kidney shot). cs-ss-ss-ks-evis. If the eviscerate doesnt kill them, use gouge (hopefully you dont have deadly poison on at the time) and run around them and backstab their brains out.
3. Lockpicking...MUST HAVE IF YOU ARE A ROGUE. Let me rephrase...MUST HAVE IF YOU ARE A ROGUE!. You can open chests in instances, lockboxes that people collect (the tips are easy money) and you can pickpocket the junkboxes which will supply you with poison materials, flash powder, blinding power (money and sometimes gems).

I notice a lot of people are saying cheapshot, then sinister strike until five combo points in order to kidney shot. I just wanted to throw into the ring that with a couple specific talents (Initiative and Seal Fate) you'll often find that one cheapshot and a backstab will be enough to put you to five points. Its faster, and more efficient. Stunlock, in essence, is allowing the least amount of movement and damage from an opponent as you possibly can. So, by that, those two talents are very stunlock friendly.

I think people were avoiding going into specific builds that would be useful, as such discussions would be wasted on someone who is only level 10 and hasn't even gotten a single "stun" technique yet.

actually now, at level 13 I have both sap and gouge so please, feel free to talk stunlock builds...I'm all ears.

Sap really isn't used for stunlocking. Sap is used for CC (Crowd Control). Say 2 mobs are right next to each other and are humanoids; you can use Sap to incapacitate one of them to kill the other.

Shmii explains.

Kidney shot is stun.
Cheap Shot is also stun. Enemy can not act for duration of stun.
Gouge is incapacitate, enemy wakes if you hit.
Sap also incapacitate.

You can not perform stunlock with Sap and Gouge.

There are intricate ways of locking down an opponent at high level using stuns, incapacitates and disorients, but typically when people say stunlock they mean using cheap shot and kidney shot in succession, while not allowing opponent any room inbetween.

Gouge in a number of situations is good for stunlocking. All you need is improved gouge and maybe Camouflage.
When your last stun is going to end, you can gouge the mob/enemy. The improved gouge lasts 5,5 seconds, whereas after 5 seconds of taking/receiving no hostile actions you leave combat mode, so you can stealth again. Stand behind the mob and stealth-cheapshot as fast as you can. GJ, you have your stunlock on again.
